Question of the Day, July 19

Well, the republican convention is well under way, and the free shit convention takes place next week right here in Philadelphia. Do these conventions really have any outcome on the election?

I think it does because they are a place to beg, and receive money for a future vote.

Completely useless. A remnant from the past. A reason to get drunk, and lay a whore. For some, gay whore’s.

Conventions matter a little bit, and a little bit is what swings the swing states, so they could matter a lot. For vp, Hillary will go with Tim Kaine (to appeal to people who like to be bored to tears) or that closeted Mexican mayor from Texas – Julian Castro. I’d give her credit for guts, having two closeted gays on the same ticket. I expect Bill Clinton to help Hillary a fair amount because he’s much more likable than his evil lesbian cunt of a pretend-wife. The best response by Trump would be something like, “I like Bill, but just because he’s stuck with her doesn’t mean the whole country should be”.

Yes, conventions have an effect. Aside from getting the funding kicked into high gear, they set the tone and the enthusiasm level that the purveyors of the ground game will have from now until November.

For a convention to have a positive effect, it needs to solidify party unity, while it also rolls out the welcome mat for others to be part of “the next great thing for our country.” The results of this GOP show remain to be seen. The empty seats at the convention will get plenty of visibility from the political establishment’s propaganda machine; AKA the MSM.

Anyone who understands how vital it is to keep crooked hillary out of the White House so she is prevented from appointing multiple Supreme Court Justices should be outraged with the neocon never trump crybaby filth that vacated those seats. They’ve made it clear they would rather hillary be allowed to further BHO’s destruction of America agenda than to do anything that will Make America Great Again.

I hope the Trump campaign finds a way to get those empty seats filled and makes it clear that the bush rove neocons are no longer relevant.

Maybe. Trump hijacked the machinery of the Republicans and is using it against them. The best thing about Trump is that the Democrats hate him. The second best thing about Trump is that the Republicans hate him.

Huh Rah, it’s like a party and pep-talk before the big game. Seriously, I saw the behind the scenes delegate selections for the state convention and how the RINOs tried to negate the Primary results. Likewise for the National Convention and will be for the Electoral College. I hate the present crooked electronic voting system where Democrats in some states might have 110% turnout without any consequences but that is nothing compared to the potential for crooked behind the scenes delegate selections and voting.

Of course it does.

From Forbes mag —- “Media analysts predict viewership for Trump’s acceptance speech could surpass the record 38 million who watched Barack Obama address the Democratic convention in 2008.”

So, 38+ MILLION people watching an event — any event — has no effect on the outcome of that event? That’s what I’m supposed to believe? Highly illogical, Captain.

Furthermore, if conventions have no effect, then please explain …. Obama. He gave one fucking speech at someone else’s convention and that propelled him to the national stage — “what a great orator”, they said — and eventually the presidency. So, please, don’t tell me conventions have no effect.

Other than making the campaigns official I don’t think they have all that much influence on the general public compared to what the campaigns themselves do.

But they do give some people a reason to celebrate and others a reason to demonstrate, attack people and riot.

Any outcome? do you mean “any influence on the outcome”?

saw john connally’s speech at the 76 convention on cspan, great speech addressed many of the issues that still exist. therefore i concluded it is all rhetoric in the end, just like platforms are quickly forgotten. then it is a great time for all the party and worker bees to have some fun as a reward. i have been to a number of conventions in my state VA, yet usually i leave with the knowledge the system will rule. i always enjoyed the company of the tea party folks, yet the rhino’s are not people i care to associate with. they appear to be as close minded and short on knowledge as those who protest outside.

It’s all a show to convince the “little people” that we’re in control…..we’re not. As Carlin once said, “It’s a big club, and we ain’t in it”.

Nope! It’s a dog and pony show for the slobbering masses. Makes ’em feel like they are part of the team and important. I’m sure TPTB look at it as a spank bank for the absurd level of control they can exert over so many with so little effort. Build it and the sheople will come.
