When I see one, I think “Hobgoblin.”
It makes me laugh.
When was the last time you saw someone use the word, “hobgoblin?”
That word has fallen out of common usage since Henry L Mencken’s day. In the South we still say ‘boogerman’ just as our Grandpas did. It means the same thing. Terms such as islamophopbia and homophobia were coined by leftists to suggest that people who disliked queers or who didn’t fall for the “religion of peace” shuck were chickenshits, scared of their own shadow.
I remember seeing that tactic being used by some mewling little yankee transplant on the yard at high school, in South Carolina in the ’60s. He thought he was being brilliant, saying to one of the typical hard handed toughs who populated the high school, “What are you so afraid of?”.
He got the piss knocked out of him. He didn’t know any better than to insinuate that the guy he was arguing with was a chickenshit. I wonder if he ever learned. I wasn’t around that school long enough to find out.

A phobia implies an irrational fear.
There is nothing irrational about a fear of Islam as history has demonstrated for 1400 or so years, that means there is nothing phobic about it.
