IMO, personal marijuana should be legalized, there is nothing dangerous enough about it to merit outlawing it, but I fully oppose legalizing an industry in it.

There is a difference between personal production and use of the plant and commercial production and promotion the same as there is with tobacco and alcohol (both of which I think we would be better off without an industry in it).

I’ve always felt that way, some things should be allowed but not commercialized.

I’m sure there is some correlation between the growing distrust of government.

People seeing it for what it is . Illegalization is a back door tax to support the Criminal justice system top to bottom.

There is something to be said for both sides of this issue. OTOH, legalizing marijuana would take away a lot of pocket money from the hoodrat community. I don’t think many of the marijuana shops in Colorado are being run by negroes.

OTOH, marijuana is a gateway drug. The police officer can use the odor of marijuana to find the 9mm under the car seat and a sizable percentage of all felony arrests start out with the search of a suspects car.

Legalizing for this specific trade would be the ‘gateway’ to eliminate killings, reduce police corruption on many levels, and reduce killings by the criminal element.

The War on Drugs – another government disaster. The Law Enforcement agencies do not want this war to end; too much power and authority and money in their pockets.

I think it should be legalized, especially if Hillbitch wins. We are going to need something to ease the pain.

Joking aside, I’ve known a lot of people who became potheads and never moved onto harder drugs. However, overuse of marijuana seriously impairs thinking and functioning ability, but with a vast majority of our population unemployed and brain-numbed by public schooling, perhaps they would be better off stoned on the couch counting the lines on their palms rather than on the streets.

Isn’t that what Soma was intended for in the Brave New World?

Maggie,
That was an interesting comment. Last week an 80+
woman was clipped for a M. plant in her garden.
Isn’t illegal pot just a vehicle for the prison system?
This is a tired argument…however, ETOH will cause a
person more regrets than some puff off a pipe. In real life.

It should not become legal because it clogs the neural synapses causing lower IQ, libido, initiative, the ability to taste and hear (victims use excessive salt, sugar and volume) and it cracks chromosomes (victims suffer more mutations and those that occur in the sperm and eggs can be passed on to future generations; pot users produce more deformed children). Pot users should bear the cost of this and have to pay higher health insurance premiums. But dope will be legalized like every other vice because this is a perverse generation. The First Amendment’s Freedom of Speech is denied to Preachers and Christians by the IRS etc yet a stripper cannot be forbidden to bare it all. The Cultural Communist deserve Harpy and the Leftist Hell she will give them.

It should be legalized because it is a natural right, something protected by both the 9th and 10th amendments. There is nothing so inherently dangerous about it that it endangers public safety and falls under protecting the common good.

Using any argument based on other illegitimate federal actions (i.e. healthcare, welfare, etc.) is invalid from the start. The government doesn’t have any specific authority to have those in place to start with as they are aimed at specific benefit rather than common good.

However, regulating commerce is within the legal authority of the governments (State and Federal) and there is a right to regulate or ban an industry in it. Banning or regulating an industry is not banning individual rights (already ruled so in many areas from firearms to farms).

Assuming that we still follow the constitution….. OK, you can stop laughing now….. the laws banning the use of marijuana are unconstitutional.

Please see and understand the 18th and 21st amendments as an example.

How many of you alcohol drinkers at any level of consumption rush right out to try pot or crack?

The answer is the same for the number of pot smokers who rush out to try LSD or harder drugs.

MJ in not a gateway drug. That is just more misinformation to control the way you think………to make you think the way your owners want you to think.

MJ was saved for this particular time in history to give the states/municipalities a means of revenue as the sting continues and people lose homes, banks don’t pay property tax on foreclosed houses. State income taxes and property tax (for those who keep their homes) will rise as the collapse deepens, tax on pot will be a supplement.

At this point, what difference does it make! Just like every other issue out there, half will agree, half won’t. All that is needed is the half that don’t just shut the fuck up and mind their own business.

Funny how as the “reefer madness” generations are dying out the support for MJ rises.

Food for thought, Hillary is opposed to legalization of Marijuana, even though states have legalized it successfully, it is still a Federal offense. Don’t be surprised if she doesn’t pull Federal rank and start messing with the states and work to get the state laws repealed. Just sayin’.
