In a properly run nation they wouldn’t be exalted and placed in perpetual victimhood status. In that same properly run nation they would, if discovered, be painlessly liquidated. Only when people think we live in Post Scarcity is this behavior tolerated. Under normal (scarcity) conditions, any hint of such foolishness is nipped in the bud (or bitch-slapped out of them.) Those who still insist on such behavior are helpfully compelled to keep in on the Down Low.

You’ve hit the nail on the head with “post scarcity”. For most of human history, we’ve had to live with scarcity and there were many periods in our history where there wasn’t enough for everyone and someone was going to go without. Also, as hunters and gatherers, if you couldn’t keep up you were left behind as it was hard to move the crippled and elderly without the wheel or an animal to help.
Once scarcity returns, these people will be the very very very first to go. I imagine a time very soon where something like this is unthinkable.
