Question of the Day, Dec 23

What’s the worst invention ever? I ask this because I was walking through the mall the other day and I saw them selling candy shaped like Lego’s.

Central banking!……..the greatest weapon of mass destruction in all human history. Central banking is the reason why that lego shaped candy sells…..they create “money” that has no value and sheople use that money to buy shit that that has no value. If they had to give up a gold doubloon to buy that lego shaped candy, they’d think twice about it.

I miss lawn darts, they added a certain element of risk filled excitement to outdoor family games that just isn’t there in anything else.

You obviously never played 12 Gauge Hide And Seek. Very big in the Appalachians of the 1950s.
Added an element much more compelling than simply crying “Come out, come out, wherever you are.”

Artificial Intelligence, bar none.

They’ve already sewn the seeds of the destruction of mankind.

Television.

For hundreds of thousands of years human beings would gather in front of a source of warm light each night and exchange stories about the world they lived in, the history they shared, the things they believed, the dreams they experienced and the future they hoped for- all of it to the mesmerizing and entrancing flicker of ever changing images within that source of comfort and safety- the hearth.

At almost the exact same moment that our technological advance made fires obsolete in terms of daily life, the television took it’s place. The beguiling voice in it’s cold glow filled with new dreams, history, beliefs and reality devised by those hostile to everything that went before.

It is far more destructive than all the weapons of the previous 100,000 years combined.

Stole my thunder hardscrabble. Spot on; IMO, not even up for debate.
“Survivor”. Highlighting the very worst in human interaction and behavior.
But I’ve no doubt worse is yet to come.

While we’re beating up on technology, I will add the smart phone. Go out to the store, go out the mall, or even go out to the fucking park, and everyone is there with their eyes on their dumb instagram, facebook, pinterest or twitter account. I guess people’s lives have become so vapid that they need the constant dopamine drip of a feed update.

HS beat me to it as well. Absolutely, in my mind, has to be the television.
It has completely numbed the minds of society.

Nuclear Power Plants. Fukushima has been slowly destroying the Pacific resulting in the death of the bio chain due to the accumulated radiation that continues to seep out into the ocean. 450 Plants worldwide with 60 in construction each producing 50 tons of nuclear waste a year. Do the math. If AI doesn’t destroy the human race first, Nuclear power probably will by destroying the environment we depend on for our survival.
