QUOTE OF THE DAY

“If man had his way, the plan of redemption would be an endless and bloody conflict. In reality, salvation was bought not by Jesus’ fist, but by His nail-pierced hands; not by muscle but by love; not by vengeance but by forgiveness; not by force but by sacrifice. Jesus Christ our Lord surrendered in order that He might win; He destroyed His enemies by dying for them and conquered death by allowing death to conquer Him.”

A short, concise, yet beautiful and doctrinally sound summation of Christianity. Thank you for sharing that.

A beautiful reminder that Jesus came to enter into death with us. On our behalf. And once in it’s grasp He broke it’s hold on Him by the resurrection. Making the “way” for those who trust in Him through the wall of death, that Adam’s being prohibited from eating of the tree of life brought upon all creation.

The more I learn and the older I get the more certainly I believe that our salvation lies not in what we can defeat, but in what we can endure.

When you set as your goals happiness or comfort you are most likely to miss the value that come from being tested, broken and failing- our ability to emerge stronger, wiser and more confident as human beings.

Good Friday has always been the one day of the year that touched me on a deeper level than the celebrations of Christmas or Easter because it wasn’t the sadness of a broken man in defeat on that path to Golgotha and his subsequent death on the cross, suffering through agony and betrayal, but his redemption of our failures through his acceptance of what life on Earth means for all men.

What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger and in with our inevitable death we have everlasting life.
