CULTURE OF COARSENESS AND DEPRAVITY

Guest Post by Gayle

Dear President Trump:

I’m what you would consider a supporter. Most of the policies you campaigned on were concerns of mine and I appreciated your views. Since the election you have accomplished some major goals such as getting us out of the climate agreement and TPP, but some other important deals are still elusive. You have battled with powerful elements who want to see you fail (or die) and your tenacity serves you well.

This morning I am grieved by you. Your tweet about Mika Brzezinski was a new low for your often-ridiculous Twitter pronouncements. I have never been a fan of Ms. Brzezinski or her dear friend Joe, nor could I begin to care what you think of them, now or in the past.

What I do care about is the tone you set for social discourse in this nation. You are helping to speed along the devolution into a culture of coarseness and depravity, already well under way before you took office. MAGA cannot be reconciled with the type of infantile conversation you promote on Twitter; they cannot coexist.

For my whole long life, I have been sometimes horrified about the terrible things said about every president whether I liked him or not. The mocking and accusations that your office has always attracted will also come to you. What every other President did was to rise above the fray, refusing to even acknowledge what was said, thus giving the statement no worthiness to even be heard. That has always been the strongest way to respond to mean or stupid comments. I suspect as your extremely well-mannered and poised children were growing up, you taught them to ignore teasing and bullying as a strategy to diminish the power of the taunts.

I would like to remind you that millions of young people are observing how you handle conflict with your critics. You pride yourself for being a “fighter” who won’t back down; in your mind, this means slinging back a bigger and more insulting wad of mud than was flung your way and then swaggering off to prepare for the next incoming. This is not the kind of role model we need in this culture. I am sorry to say you have helped to create the current climate of meanness and crudeness that currently hangs over the country, and I am asking you to stop. Your lack of dignity is damaging the office you hold and the nation at large.

Since you love to tweet so much, why don’t you try using Twitter for a different purpose: use it for only positive comments, for issues and people who deserve some credit for something they have done. I think it would put everyone in a better mood and who knows, your ratings might even go up.

Gayle, well said, I totally concur with your open letter. Mr. Trump needs to stay out of the mud and stop with the negative rhetoric. Just move forward with the peoples business and let the media and the rest of his opposition continue to self implode. It’s happening, let it continue happening without creating new controversies to defend.

Some of Trump’s tweets have been epically hilarious: Happy Cinco be Mayo (with the taco bowl). This one was just weird. Yeah, I wish he’d dial it back a bit. Oh well.

Since people listen when Trump speaks (tweets) and few care about Pence, Bannon or even the Senators who (mildly) support him, he must tweet himself. If you don’t like the message, imagine how few of us like those tweeted about!
Another factor is how often NOTHING gets said. A couple of dozen Chicago residents DIE every weekend on the average, and the only mention is an occasional “Oh, how sad”. Billions are WASTED on the latest SJW / socialist nonsense, and it barely gets a story on Page Eight. Trump shines light on stupidity, which is always a service.
And in the endless Russian nonsense, all made up lies, the effort to drown any mention of the GOOD things Trump accomplishes is obvious. TPP, Paris accords, Gorsuch, and any worthwhile or positive thing Trump has accomplished is downplayed and ignored as much as possible. Let Trump do his thing, since basically the entire MSM is doing theirs!

I agree to a point, James. Where I will differ is that Trump could accomplish the same thing with a little bit of style. He should have class and style with his tweets. I think that people of all political views (thinking people, not activists, antifa and free shit army) would respond much better if he got his (some very good) points across with more eloquence. Same message, different delivery.

If you don’t like the tweets……don’t read the fucking tweets! Leave him be, maybe this is his release – besides, this bullshit about acting presidential is from the deep state acting ‘presidential’ while they horsefuck you night and day – acting stoic and solemn with an occasional moment in the fall pardoning some bird – is that what you want or is that what you’re used to? Maybe in this day and age, Trump IS being presidential……otherwise, who really cares about a tweet or better, why?

The Dems are the ones who lowered the political discourse to this level, on the assumption that the Right wouldn’t ‘go there’. Well surprise, surprise. Trump beats them at their own game. It was the Lefties who changed the rules, not the Right.

So here is the deal: turn the Alinsky tactics back on them….or lose. There is no other choice.

The left has created and nurtured the culture of coarseness in this country for over 30 years. Now they get triggered whenever there is pushback. Do I think Trump should dial it back a tad? Maybe. We knew what we were getting when we elected him. If we had wanted another empty suit there were 18 to chose from. If we had wanted an intellectual grey champion the repubs torpedoed that hope when they sanderstiened Ron Paul In 2008 and 2012. So all these crying repubs better do a gut check and get a backbone. The war is being brought to our door and the world wide left along with the cultural marxists don’t play by the queens rules. As for the effect on the children, puleeze Bill clinton did more damage than any President before or since. Good parents can use these fights as teachable moments.Even though I strongly disagree with you Gayle that was nice writing and you should do it more often.

Awww Poor Mika.

Why is it prurient and so uncalled for to call out the Morning Joe Hostess. It was’t that long ago that she pronounced that it is the Mainstream media’s job is to control what people think. Let the Deplorables eat the cake whilst she twists in the wind.

Who elected that dumb cunt Marie?
Is she above reproach just because she is a woman?

Quite Hilarious to piss and moan about how wrong it is to go after her. Yet when the brush gets to the tacks and Mika gets attacked there is a bum’s rush to fall back on the Lil’ Miss Innocent routine. Yep the privilege men are accused of having is fact an illusion. In it’s place there is in fact only one protected class.

Women.

It is about time that someone called out her on her bullshit. As for the President and the Office. Trump will be Trump. And no need to worry about disrepute. That horse won the Stakes and left town a long time ago.

As for the face lift remark it might be a bit harsh but if she doesn’t quit with the nips and tucks she will soon end up with a beard.

Trump hurting her feelies might serve Mika Scarbag in end by doing her a favour….

Yeah Bill Clintons indiscretions were undignified. The left defended that scumbag vehemently. Same with Hillary. Remember the Deplorables comment? How about Obama with his passive-aggressive middle finger salute. The left-wing never denounced any of that, ever. Twitters aflame with righteous indignation fever. Even low energy Jeb! pitched a fit. Obama ” if they bring a knife, you bring a gun”, “get in their face”.

Paul Ryan commented today how this tweet does not help civility. A radio host commented that , yes, Republican’s have been working on this civility thing for going on 30 years now; and what has it gotten them?

So as coarse as it is, it may be the best way to fight back, as no other politician has done since maybe president Reagan.

trump hasn’t accomplished shit. just because he pulled out of a few international agreements doesn’t mean that our country will not engage in them. trump cannot even understand the bills that he is signing, much less read the actual text. he cannot be taken seriously. all I really gave a fuck about when he became president was cutting wasteful spending and lowering taxes. but since that clearly is not going to happen in his presidency, as far as I’m concerned, he is an emperor with no clothes. nobody is taking him seriously. he cannot even dismantle Obamacare with a party that controls both houses. his tweet is just another reflection of where his head is at. there is a price to pay for everything that we do. every action that we take is built upon actions done in prior days. his incessant tweets are habitual flaws of character that cannot be undone with a simple decision. he has become comfortable in his repugnant ways. only pain and misery will motivate him to change now.

and anybody that defends his tweets .. fuck you. it’s one thing to call people up and talk smack to their face. but to blast them on twitter on a public forum where millions if not billions will read your remarks .. this is despicable behavior.

some folks are by nature direct and crass, some people do it intentionally. What I have noticed is that when tweets like this come out they are for more of a reason than the knee-jerk reactions from the one dimensional thinkers that only read the tweet and get their feelings hurt believing that their standards for the president are the ones that should be lived up to…
in regards to deeper reasons… folks should check on if any EOs were signed, meetings were scheduled or calls made that had dealings being discussed. This smoke-screen has happened more than once and has been great to get the “dumb as dirt” MSM chasing tails and crying foul while other things happen. Its been shown that the MSM, in general, isnt comprised of the brightest minds and will react to any bone thrown. Did anyone notice Podesta was called in for questioning the other day? How many have been following the lines of questioning with L.Lynch?
In regards to someones supposed “standards” of an office… your pipe dreams of regalty are exactly why govt has gotten so much power over “we the people”.

I watched this last election almost exclusively through the lens of TBP. I’ve seen comments since that El Beaner Boy also did not tRump along top get along. Seems to me Stucky did care for him too much at first. Not sure if Admin did either. I could go on but I digress. Stucky at least warmed up to him later and last I read regrets it now. I feel much the same way. Not that it really mattered seeing as I can’t vote for my leader.

Trump’s election was and still is, just a middle finger at conformity to the predominant narrative. That is why his twitter feed is so epic and great. A daily fuck you for the folks who really need it. To be frank I’m more than happy if that is all he achieves in his 4 years in office. Still I must respect those that didn’t support him from beginning and held to that thru thick and thin.

However worshipped is a pretty strong characterization of how the Donald is seen by many. Yeah there are a few that believe that he can save the world but most folks are realistic as to the chance of that happening.

He isn’t the problem or the solution. It is the bankers in New York and London that are pulling the strings. They need to go. But they ain’t going anywhere.

It doesn’t seem possible for the unwashed to get to watch the Main attraction. Instead at least from my view in Flyover country the vast majority are stuck watching the intermission features on an endless and very predictable loop. Trump is just the mustard for the Hotdog before it jumps into the bun.

To me, it’s just a whole bunch of people cheering on a guy looking for a job.

Folks attributing the market to Trump should recall the market goes up when the thieves have free rein. Calvin, Ronnie, Bill and Trump being hands-off kind of guys gave the thieves plenty of wiggle room. It’s likely no inflation fighter like Carter will ever be elected again. The only option in that scenario would be to retire the currency, issue new denominations and it’s off to the races once more.

Yes, we are probably past that point. Pollyanna breaks out sometimes.

I’ve got no problem with Trump defending himself. He’s a master of the stinging quip and often uses it to his advantage. The tweet in question was childish and petulant, however, directed toward a two-bit TV “journalist” who poses no threat to his success and who deserves none of his nor the country’s attention. He lowered himself to her standards, sadly.

I used to get so frustrated at Ron Paul because he was ever the gentleman as his enemies chewed him up. Trump is at the other end of the spectrum, and I wish he would move a little toward the center.

“The tweet in question was childish and petulant, however, directed toward a two-bit TV “journalist” who poses no threat to his success and who deserves none of his nor the country’s attention.”

I definitely see what you mean. In a better world, we wouldn’t have to wrestle in the mud. I used to have plenty of Pollyanna moments, too. But the left has beat them out of me.

Food for thought: Sometimes, when you hit back, it’s not only to punish the person who sucker-punched you, but also to show others what you’ll do when attacked. Due to Trump’s crude counter-punch, how many lefties might now think twice before making a snide comment about Trump’s appearance? Or calling him a traitor? Or attacking his kid?

In some ways, the left has perfected this. They hit hard, no matter how obscure their opponents are. Christian bakeries. A small pizza shop. Parents who don’t want naked dudes in their daughter’s locker room. Average Americans just expressing an opinion. The left has no mercy. They have no standards. They never say, “We’re above this.” They make an example of everyone.

Such tactics have done a wonderful job of teaching us conservatives to shut up, don’t make waves, don’t object to anything, no matter how outrageous. It’s about time we turned this around.

But fuck with me at your peril. Be impolite to me, disrespect me, try to cheat me or not give me what I pay for, and suffer the consequences. In those circumstance, I am an aggressive, and potentially violent, bastard and make no mistake about it.

And I think Trump is likely the same. I bet if you treat him with respect he would be loyal, kind, personable, charitable in return. Screw with him, and I suspect you get the horns. And being president or not will not change him. That is who he is.

I have zero problem with that. None whatsoever.

“I expect more than …”
Like getting the SCOTUS to back him up on the bulk of his travel ban on certain Muslim countries (I bet that really stuck in Ruth’s and Soto’s craws)?
Like pushing for immigration reform from the House?
Like having the ICE director say “I don’t see why any illegal alien should feel comfortable”?
He seems to me to pick fights that he wants – let’s get the media to focus on my mean tweet about Mika while I shut down some terrorists and do these important things quietly, without a lot of show. That way, fewer “activists” will be able to see what I did and less likely to fight it through the courts all the time…..
I don’t know if the Donald has a longshoreman’s command of the language ,but I bet he could be a LOT more “colorful” if he felt like it. Mika got a nudge instead of a spanking, by my lights.

Oh for fucks sake…do you remember what it was like to live in a society that featured grownups? All of this is pathetic and tired and DUMB. Should we expect more from a journalist than an under the breathe “he’s a dictator”? Of course we should. Should we expect the PRESIDENT OF THE FUCKING UNITED STATES to express his displeasure in more sophisticated, nuanced ways with said journalist than attacking her appearance? How is this even a question? Why are we allowing our national discourse to sink to this level?
Look, I’m the liberalist liberal who ever liberaled, and I hate the snide, snarky bullshit about Trump. I mean, I hate that guy with the heat of 10,000 suns, but I don’t need to laugh at his tennis shorts or his hair or his weird Ivanka thing or that fact that it looks like blinking causes his wife physical pain.

Guys, let’s demand more from our elected representatives and our culture than this toxic bullshit. I mean, it would be great if when the dick at work is a dick I could let loose with juvenile insults. Yeah. No. That doesn’t work, because being an adult means you replace “Fuck you” with “okay, great” phony smile. Honestly, all of you know that deep down, if you reacted like DT to criticism and insults in your normal, day-to-day life, you would have no job, no friends, no nothing. And it isn’t unreasonable to expect more from, again, the FUCKING PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, than is expected of you. Seriously

I do expect more from the President.

I expect more of him putting the fear of being humiliated into these vile creatures.

I expect more of him reminding the men of this country what it means to stand up for themselves and reminding the women of how hot it is to have men around that stand up for themselves.

Yeah, that’s cool and everything, but how about him articulating some some of reasonable argument/viewpoint instead of resorting to the shit 15 year old boys say? I got no problem with DT defending himself, but merely being uglier than your detractors is not a sign of maturity, self-control, or intelligence. It’s pathetic
Sad!

So you are cool with her response 21 minutes later at 3:19 am which implied that he has a small tallywhacker?

Change “him” to “her” and DT to MB in your comment and you would be making the same point as I see it.

Not even a little. I’ve loathed Mika since before she was fellating DT in 2015 (remember that?)
Here’s the thing though – two actually:
1. MB is a talking head who I don’t watch, whose influence in the world is basically nil, and my response was to Gayle’s open letter to DT, who is leader of our nation. His behavior is more important, because he is more important
2. “But someone else also did this loathsome thing” has not nor ever will be a valid defense for anything.

Doesn’t work anymore. It’s clear to everyone, even those accusing him of being course, that he’s actually sharp as hell and the “15 year old boy” shit he says is brutal in its efficiency and to the pointness.

Part of the reason it works so well is because there are lot of things that people have been too afraid to say that SHOULD have been resolved by the time the targets were 15 years old but were instead prevented from hearing because everyone was being too polite. Well they got used to not hearing it and now someone is saying out loud what needs to be said.

He’s not being uglier and you know it.

Hmmm… testing… testing. Nope. Doesn’t work.

Your idea of pathetic is pathetic.

Here’s what you know but are afraid to admit… you have to call it pathetic to assuage your own self doubts about your own short comings. It’s not me you need to convince, and that flourish of heat you feel rising in your cheeks is your confirmation.

“Doesn’t work anymore.” Really? Says who?

“It’s clear to everyone, even those accusing him of being course, that he’s actually sharp as hell and the “15 year old boy” shit he says is brutal in its efficiency and to the pointness.”

Not clear to everyone, not even close.
And the 15 year old boy shit embarrasses him more than anyone else

“Part of the reason it works so well is because there are lot of things that people have been too afraid to say that SHOULD have been resolved by the time the targets were 15 years old but were instead prevented from hearing because everyone was being too polite. I’m not sure what this means. I mean, I guess we could all run around with unleashed ids doing and saying whatever nastiness we wish, but that sounds like a kind of terrible place to live, and proves Gayle’s point rather beautifully.

“He’s not being uglier and you know it.”
Nope, he’s uglier

Man, I don’t even know what to say. Except that it’s clear you and fearless leader have similar responses to disagreements? Is it no longer possible to have differing opinions without resorting to ad hominem attacks? Razzle, you disagree with me. Great! Gimme something good, not weird paragraphs about my self-doubt.

My expectations were high as they are for any president who represents the country I live in and contribute to via taxes and honorable time served in the armed forces. They deserved to be criticized and to be held accountable for their policy and ethical decisions. Play in the big leagues and the hits get pretty hard. Lots of eyes on them and 300 + million people judging, that is the deal. I don’t give President Trump a free pass because he has no experience (politically) or because his base is angry. I support several of his policy agendas and oppose others, but to expect a degree of professionalism is not over the top imho.

I was skipping through the channels last night and of course every talking head was giving their 2 cents. The best quote I heard and I can’t remember by who was :

Never fight below your weight class.

My hope that the president can find some solace in that advice – Mika B. is below your weight class and not even worth the thought much less the time to bother with.

Gayle, I agree with our sentiment. I think what you are striving for is something we all want at the end of the day…….a polite, civil society. Not long ago the QOTD here asked why don’t right wingers fight back in the same manner as the leftists attack, or something along those lines. I responded that because when the right finally breaks bad there will be no taking it back. It’s going to get ugly. It’s why I’m so sick of this shit, because it’s going to have to get much worse before it gets better.

The battle is literally for control of the world via NWO. Read that Philosophy of Metrics article T4C posted above. tRump is a puppet and so is everyone else to one degree or another. I would add that most TBP’ers at least have the ability to think and reason for themselves. Because of this, most of us can see both sides or at least have the potential to. All of the turmoil we see around us is engineered and controlled scientifically. The sheep don’t see it at all and I’m not certain all of our elected leaders see it either.

You’re a kind and decent person Gayle. The deep state and the left see that as being weak. I loathe all this bullshit but sooner or later the right is going to have to fight fire with fire. My only hope is that they recognize and attack the true enemy without mercy. My fear is that we citizens merely end up fighting amongst ourselves which might make us feel good in the short term but the real enemy will still be in power. Check out that POM article.

Thanks IC

I have read the POM article twice. I have grasped for a long time that we have been played for possibly centuries, probably by forces we don’t understand (except they are obviously devilish). The boiling social stew is real and Trump’s rise is a product of this environment. (The most interesting thing in that piece is the efforts by TPTB to foment an Islamic reformation.)

I also watched the video about women being the destroyers of nations (sigh). Actually I agree with much of it, but I think it is ingenuously titled.

I don’t mind a bit if Trump is cruel to enemies like Mika, I just wish he could pull it off without sounding like an ass. You’re right, I am too idealistic. I am also old enough to remember the kinder times that many of us on TBP frequently reflect on. As the culture deteriorates in every measurable way, a coarsening of language is inevitable (sometimes this crosses my mind as I read comments on TBP). The problem is, the light is falling and I don’t want it to.

I also see this as selective and political.
Remember LBJ holding up a basset hound by the ears? Showing off his [appendectomy?] scar? Where were all the liberals calling for more civility, more dignity, more gravitas?
Remember Bill Clinton doing things to Monica? How every liberal commentator criticized his bestial, power-abusive, exploitative treatment of an intern nearly his daughter’s age?
Me neither.
How about Obama bowing down to foreigners, scraping before every black special interest group, praising Islamic customs? How many liberals were criticizing his lack of dignity, pandering, degradation of American values? Bueller?
This is liberals bitching about relatively restrained criticism. Trump could surely come up with perfectly accurate ways to describe Mika, Jim Acosta and all these rest that wouldn’t violate their sense of decorum – but he would be playing by their rules. And that won’t win back the country from people like Pedophile Podesta, Peabrain Pelosi and Screw-loose Schumer. THEY are playing to win, with every dirty trick they can think of, and determined to prevent any repeal of the hate, pain and suffering they have inflicted on this country.
It’s a shame the President has no chance of winning a libel suit – he surely could file a few dozen just with clips from CNN programs.

In a perfect world a president would be a statesman. But this issue may be Trumps one redeeming feature since he has let us down on getting out of all the wars.

Imagine hillary had won and the headline news was ‘she made a referance to a mans appearance’ , imagine we were being told this was an attack on all men. Imagine there was an unflattering nude statue of hillary and the Republicans made a mantra of referencing her hair and wrinkles and huge ass.

Imagine also a woman could give consent but a man could not if they are drunk. Imagine it is 4x as many women killing themself as men. Imagine men are confident they can divorce women and keep the kids and assetts. Imagine women are ever more careful to try and prove they are not rapists and misandrists. Imagine a total double standard exists where men can do no wrong and are always said to need empowering, while women were told they are privileged and opressors.

Would you want president Hillary to go ahead and reply the male journalist has small hands, or would you prefer she follows the PC path and just politely nods along with the hypocrisy, double standard and insanity?
