In a way I’m glad my Grandfather and Father ( both Veterans ) I didn’t live to see what our once great Republic has become. At times it sickens me but it would have broke their hearts. We deserve God’s wrath.

Actually Fokkers are Dutch.
You know, like Dutchman: he can be a real Fokker at times.

This particular story about the Fokker aircraft has been told over the years. Think I first heard it in 1956. Very doubtful that it can be any way attributed to Doug Bader, the “legless air ace”. The man the German’s let sit in a Messerschmidt with a soldier standing by with a pistol pointed at Bader for fear he would steal it and fly home. The man was a gentleman and would not have told this tall-tale at any girls school.

I highly recommended the History Channel biography of the great Bader. Truly we are midgets in the shoulders of giants.

That’s fucking funny. The Germans didn’t fly Fokkers in WW2, just WW1.
Zara…..there were cases in which the Germans did “acquire” Fokker a/c when the Dutch weren’t using them and put them to use flying people and supplies to France, Italy and even to the Afrika Corps. They were very good at using captured forces materiel…..especially from the Checks/Slovaks and Poles. The French heavy tanks were better than most of the panzers early…..
The Panzers were medium tanks with the exception of the Panzer 1 which was a light tank.
Of course the Germans used captured shit. Everyone did. Not long ago a Soviet T 34 tank was found at the bottom of a marsh that was painted in German markings. The Japs captured B 17’s from Clark airbase in the Philippines and I remember a photo seeing several of them flying past Mt. Fuji bearing meatballs on their wings.

Agreed. That was just plain funny and should just be valued for the laughs, without further commentary.

SSS – I have been fighting this until I am purple in the face. I have advised all and sundry that greats such as yourself have left because of Yo and his cronies and the bullshit. Stuck came back, but is off and on lamenting that decision because of this type crap. I have definitely considered walking, but feel an obligation to try to hang tough.
TBP has an important message. We need you, SSS. Truly. But I understand your position. Hopefully, Yo has gotten the message. We have heard that all before, of course. If he has not, and remains, he will be the death of the place, I am afraid.
