unfortunately,i’d say we are slaves to many things in modern western societies–consumerism,have it now,debt,untrustworthy institutions and leaders,just about untrustworthy everything–
the only things that the us has going for it is the rest of the world is just about as screwed up as us and we are so big that we can absorb more before falling–
