THE UNBEARABLE SLOWNESS OF FOURTH TURNINGS

“The next Fourth Turning is due to begin shortly after the new millennium, midway through the Oh-Oh decade. Around the year 2005, a sudden spark will catalyze a Crisis mood. Remnants of the old social order will disintegrate. Political and economic trust will implode. Real hardship will beset the land, with severe distress that could involve questions of class, race, nation and empire. The very survival of the nation will feel at stake. Sometime before the year 2025, America will pass through a great gate in history, commensurate with the American Revolution, Civil War, and twin emergencies of the Great Depression and World War II.” – Strauss & Howe The Fourth Turning

This Fourth Turning was ignited suddenly in September 2008 as the housing bubble, created by the Federal Reserve and their criminal puppeteer owners on Wall Street, collapsed, revealing the greatest control fraud in world history. A crisis mood was catalyzed as the stock market dropped 50%, unemployment surged to highs not seen since 1981, foreclosures exploded, and captured politicians bailed out the criminal bankers with the tax dollars of the victims.

The mood of the country darkened immediately as average Americans flooded their congressmen’s websites and phone lines with a demand not to bailout the felonious Wall Street banks with $700 billion of TARP. But they ignored their supposed constituents and revealed who they are truly beholden to.

Trust in the political and financial system disintegrated and has further deteriorated as the ruling elite continue to loot and pillage as if the 2008/2009 global financial meltdown never happened. From the perspective of the archaic social order there is no longer a crisis. The recovery narrative, flogged ceaselessly by the crooked establishment and their propaganda fake news corporate media mouthpieces, has convinced millions of willfully ignorant Americans progress is occurring.

Could they be right? Is the Crisis over? Has this Fourth Turning been managed to a successful conclusion by central bankers issuing tens of trillions in debt, politicians spending tens of trillions supplied by taxpayers, bankers rigging financial markets, and consumers leveraging up to maintain their lifestyles? Has the exiting corrupt social order successfully retained their power, control and influence over the masses by manipulating the levers of society and fending off their demise? Have they already won?

This Fourth Turning just passed its ninth anniversary. The Civil War Fourth Turning lasted only five years, but that was because it was accelerated, with an enormous amount of bloodshed crammed into a short time frame. The American Revolution Crisis lasted twenty one years. The Great Depression/World War II Crisis lasted seventeen years. All three prior American Fourth Turnings ended with an all-out decisive war, with clear victors and vanquished.

Based on historical precedent, this Fourth Turning shouldn’t reach its resolution until the mid-2020’s, with a major global conflict on the near term horizon. Those who understand that something wicked this way comes are frustrated by the apparent slowness of the progression. They shouldn’t be too anxious for an acceleration.

Since Strauss & Howe didn’t formulate their generational theory until 1997, this is the first Fourth Turning in which some people understand the dynamics driving the Crisis. Does knowledge about a cycle change the underlying forces propelling history? Has the establishment oligarchy co-opted the crisis mood of the country to avoid its own demise? Or, is this Fourth Turning just proceeding according to the standard morphology along its two decade long test of survival?

I honestly don’t know. This is my first and only Fourth Turning. What I do know is the Crisis began in the time frame predicted by Strauss & Howe. The catalyst was the 2008 financial meltdown created by Wall Street and the Federal Reserve, just as they had done in 1929 to catalyze the previous Fourth Turning. Strauss and Howe documented the four stages of a Fourth Turning.

  • A Crisis era begins with a catalyst – a startling event (or sequence of events) that produces a sudden shift in mood.
  • Once catalyzed, a society achieves a regeneracy – a new counterentropy that reunifies and reenergizes civic life.
  • The regenerated society propels toward a climax – a crucial moment that confirms the death of the old order and birth of the new.
  • The climax culminates in a resolution – a triumphant or tragic conclusion that separates the winners from losers, resolves the big public questions, and establishes the new order.

The 2008 global financial meltdown most certainly produced a sudden shift in mood. Average working class Americans saw their retirement savings obliterated for the second time in the space of eight years. Millions lost their jobs and got thrown out of their homes by the Wall Street bankers who perpetrated the greatest financial fraud in world history. The American citizens, who overwhelmingly disapproved of TARP, were disregarded as captured corrupt congressmen handed $700 billion of taxpayer funds to the Wall Street criminals.

The darker shift in mood produced the Tea Party movement and the Occupy Wall Street movement. Both movements were co-opted by the establishment and effectively extinguished as change agents. Over the next seven years a massive debt produced bubble has been blown in stock, bond and real estate markets to benefit only those in the upper echelon of wealth. Wall Street is winning in a blowout over Main Street.

As 2015 morphed into the historic year of vitriol, hate, fake news, Russians, pussy grabbing, and an all-out establishment effort to discredit and defeat Donald Trump – 2016 saw battle lines drawn and combatants armed. The oligarchs used every propaganda trick in their bag. They used their vast limitless wealth to insure the election of their hand-picked candidate – Hillary Clinton. Black Lives Matter terrorists slaughtered policemen in cold blood. Social justice warriors were triggered on campuses across the land, retreating to safe spaces with crayons and coloring books.

Antifa fascists rioted, beat Trump supporters and attempted to shutdown free speech at every opportunity. Violent clashes, provoked by leftists, roiled the country and hardened the resolve of normal people in flyover America. The fake news corporate media produced fake polls showing an overwhelming victory for Clinton. The ruling elite underestimated the anger among the silent majority. Trump won an unlikely victory.

The basket of deplorables and millions of other disillusioned regular people chose the Grey Champion of this Fourth Turning on November 8, 2016. It was possibly the biggest upset in presidential history. The long awaited regeneracy had arrived. Just as the election of FDR marked the regeneracy of the last Fourth Turning, the election of Donald Trump marks the regeneracy moment of this Crisis.

His election has energized the country in positive and negative ways. He has unified factions for and against his agenda. His election has revealed an ingrained establishment (aka swamp creatures) inhabited by politicians of both parties who are intent on sabotaging his presidency. The first ten months of his presidency has been a tumultuous clash between an entrenched establishment and a tweeting, insulting, volatile, unpredictable, rude outsider real estate mogul from NYC.

The mood of the country has clearly darkened as 2017 has progressed. There is no middle ground or compromise. The tension between the two Americas rises with each mass shooting, Russian collusion revelation, exposure of media bias, proof of Hollywood degradation, judicial overreach, Soros funded staged protests, Donna Brazile tell all book and censorship actions by Twitter, Facebook, and other left wing slanted media outlets.

Only 24% of Americans think the country is headed in the right direction, and they are right. With a $20 trillion national debt, $200 trillion of unfunded welfare liabilities, pension plans underfunded by hundreds of billions, rampant governmental corruption, blatant Wall Street criminality, undeclared wars being waged across the globe, and a feeble minded corporate propaganda media spewing fake news, the nation has already hit the iceberg and the ship is going down.

The level of divisiveness and anger in this country grows exponentially, with the flames being fanned by the corporate media intent on creating a civil war. Battle lines are being drawn between Republicans and Democrats; the establishment GOP and the Steve Bannon alt-right disciples; far left Sanders Democrats and Clinton partisans; BLM terrorists and police; Soros funded Antifa scum and free speech conservatives; SJW’s and normal people; elites and deplorables; whites and blacks; liberals and conservatives; Wall Street and Main Street; Hollywood deviants and people with morals; Muslims and infidels; those who are awake and those who are ignorant; gun owners and gun confiscators; surveillance state and citizens being surveilled; young and old; haves and have nots; workers and parasites; government union workers and taxpayers; left wing academia and those with common sense; arrogant hubristic oligarchs and humble hard working Americans.

If you can’t comprehend the sense of foreboding engulfing the nation and the globe, you aren’t paying attention. Despite a global recovery narrative and record high stock markets supercharged by irresponsible debasing schemes implemented by captured central bankers, the world is hurtling relentlessly toward conflict, war and bloodshed. Every previous American Fourth Turning saw an upwards ratchet in violence, death and technological killing devices. This Fourth Turning will see a continuation of this trend. Fourth Turning wars are always decisive, with clear winners and losers.

The Revolutionary War erupted two years after the Boston Tea Party catalyst and lasted for eight years. The Civil War swept the country into conflict shortly after Lincoln’s election. The Second World War didn’t encroach on the lives of Americans until 12 years after the 1929 Great Crash. Each Crisis will have its own dynamics, pace, and timing, based upon specific events, leadership decisions, and generational reactions to the incidents and episodes driving the crisis. We are in year nine of this Fourth Turning and a looming bloody conflict is just over the horizon, but the vast majority of the American populace is unprepared and unaware for such a trial by fire.

The 2008 volcanic eruption has continued to flow along the channels of distress impacting nations across the globe. Yeoman efforts by the Deep State to keep the molten flow within controlled channels are failing, with the eruption about to burst free and cause global havoc on a grand scale, as predicted by Strauss & Howe.

“Imagine some national (and probably global) volcanic eruption, initially flowing along channels of distress that were created during the Unraveling era and further widened by the catalyst. Trying to foresee where the eruption will go once it bursts free of the channels is like trying to predict the exact fault line of an earthquake. All you know in advance is something about the molten ingredients of the climax, which could include the following:

  • Economic distress, with public debt in default, entitlement trust funds in bankruptcy, mounting poverty and unemployment, trade wars, collapsing financial markets, and hyperinflation (or deflation)
  • Social distress, with violence fueled by class, race, nativism, or religion and abetted by armed gangs, underground militias, and mercenaries hired by walled communities
  • Political distress, with institutional collapse, open tax revolts, one-party hegemony, major constitutional change, secessionism, authoritarianism, and altered national borders
  • Military distress, with war against terrorists or foreign regimes equipped with weapons of mass destruction”

The Fourth Turning – Strauss & Howe

The American Revolution military conflict was with an external enemy. The Civil War was an internal conflict between Americans. World War II was again an external conflict. Will the coming conflict be domestic, foreign or both? Every Fourth Turning has internal and external struggles and skirmishes. Loyalists battled patriots during the American Revolution. Both sides attempted to seek European support during the Civil War.

A resolute opposition despised FDR and even sought to organize a military coup to seize power of the government. This Fourth Turning is progressing along a dual path of internal and external clashes destined to define the events which will propel the world towards a climax and resolution of this fourth crisis period in U.S. history.

The apparent slowness of this Fourth Turning is not unusual and the rise in the stock market in the midst of the crisis does not alleviate the dire circumstances of the crisis. From its low in 1932 the stock market rose by over 400% by 1937, in the midst of the Great Depression, before another 45% plunge. The current Fed financed stock market rally has driven stocks up about 400% from the 2009 lows. Stock markets do not define when a crisis has ended for the majority of Americans because so few people own a significant amount of stock.

The average American suffered economic hardship throughout the 1930s, just as average Americans have continued to suffer economic hardship since 2008. As Americans dealt with privation and poverty in the late 1930s the coming global conflict was brewing. Animosities, prejudices and resentments, exacerbated by economic turmoil, stirred militaristic ambitions of hubristic rulers in Europe and Asia. The parallels with the current international dynamic are eerie. The exact timing of the chaotic dangerous portion of this Fourth Turning is uncertain, but it can’t be escaped.

“Don’t think you can escape the Fourth Turning the way you might today distance yourself from news, national politics, or even taxes you don’t feel like paying. History warns that a Crisis will reshape the basic social and economic environment that you now take for granted. The Fourth Turning necessitates the death and rebirth of the social order. It is the ultimate rite of passage for an entire people, requiring a luminal state of sheer chaos whose nature and duration no one can predict in advance.” – Strauss & Howe – The Fourth Turning

In Part 2 of this article I will examine the devolving global environment and the implications on markets and the course of this Fourth Turning.

Hey admin,
I would like to see a tabulation of the death toll for each 4th turning. I bet it goes up by an order of magnitude with each turning, forecasting a coming death toll in the billions. Jim, can you make that analysis happen?

That question was answered years ago on the “company” run website deagel.com. They show the population of the United States in 2025 at only 54 million. Check it out:

http://www.deagel.com/country/United-States-of-America_c0001.aspx

America the beautiful, a few years from now, will be a toothless old hag. Whatever happens will be off the scale devastating. I’ve been a prepper for years mainly because it’s just a smart way to live. But this coming event, whatever it is, will take me out. Most of the missing 270 millions Americans will die and the rest will flee from a diseased, poisoned, irradiated, smashed, EMP or CME darkened, ruined continent.

Our government believes with all its (black) heart that this is a fait accompli. Remember, Deagel is an alphabet soup, military run site. And here’s a secret revealed by a few insiders, one of whom I knew, is that the elites have an unwritten rule that they must reveal their plans quietly ahead of time. I believe ’em. They’re salivating at the prospects of this Fourth Turning. Depopulation is real goal. If you can’t wrap your mind around it keep in mind this one absolute fact: They think of us as just a commodity. “We The People” are no different than corn, cattle or cotton. Sometimes you have to slash and burn a field to get a better yield.

Best be on the winning team.

I am really beginning to see some real evidence of how very robust systems become fragile very quickly when an entire group of people can be distracted from the ultimate dictator of what can and cannot be imitated and revised: Natural Law eventually wins.

Even if you have no interest, perhaps listen to at least a minute to each point of view to grasp what the issues really are and which are fictional clingers-on.

“Gradually it was disclosed to me that the line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either — but right through every human heart — and through all human hearts. This line shifts. Inside us, it oscillates with the years. And even within hearts overwhelmed by evil, one small bridgehead of good is retained. And even in the best of all hearts, there remains … an unuprooted small corner of evil.

Since then I have come to understand the truth of all the religions of the world: They struggle with the evil inside a human being (inside every human being). It is impossible to expel evil from the world in its entirety, but it is possible to constrict it within each person.”

The Kingdom of God is a form of government, not a religion.

We are in a period of grace, being given opportunity to cease our individual rebellion. It will not last as long as most seem to expect.

“Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the hearts of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.”

I used to think this was only talking about evil people. Now I realize it is not.

Au Contraire! The ‘Kingdom of God’ is NOT a form of government. It was a phrase used to convey inclusiveness of the human family within the Mind of the Creative Force we call God.

Man has a propensity to describe reality in view of his own personal beliefs. It’s a form of Personification. We think in terms of government because that is what we know. It is what we believe in and, therefore, a part of our experience which we extrapolate onto God.

I believe that God is different and more than we can ever know. I believe it is God’s desire to reveal Himself to us. I guess you have to have a starting point, so, calling ‘The Kingdom of God” a form of government is acceptable to me and less turmoil for immature perceptions.

Four things needed for a Kingdom:

1. A king
2. Law
3. Territory

I didn’t call it a Kingdom, He did.

The point is religions are man made. Until we give up on trying to improve on perfection, things are not going to change.

Jesus and the writers of the Old Testament spoke in terms that was understandable to the common man. It’s not that what was said, was untrue, but a more elementary concept in a growing, expansive understanding of the Truth.

God is Consciousness, a Spiritualness. What is the ‘territory’ of consciousness? God wishes you to be a co-companion with Him. He has given you free will, which means you have the ability to choose. What king grants that right? It is in fact the opposite.

There are laws, yes. Like the Law of Attraction, like begets like or the Law of Karma, you experience what you create, especially what you create in the lives of others, but these laws are a manifestation of God’s Love not edicts laid down to be ruthlessly followed by a vengeful god. A manifestation of water is wetness. Wetness is inseparable from water in the same way God’s ‘laws’ are inseparable from God’s Love. In truth God and Love are synonyms like automobile and car are synonyms for the same physical expression. The Great Creative Force is God, is Love. It is Love that brought all that is, into being.

Naw. The Kingdom of God is allegorical.

If the kingdom of God is allegorical, then why did ALL the disciples believe it was literal?

Don’t tell me they were dumb. They spent 3 years with Jesus.

There are hundreds of verses about the kingdom. Some are allegorical. Some are literal. Many can go either way.

If you want to put all your eggs in one basket, fine. But, be aware of the other baskets.

Had 2 or 3 witnesses come forward as prescribed with the man in tow willing to testify, she would have been stoned. It is not sinless men who can judge or there would be no justice. Get off the feel good Christianity kick. She was guilty and he had the power to condemn her. Would have too if it was done according to the Law.

She was being used for political purposes. Their attempt to incriminate Jesus blew up in a heir face because they had no real interest in justice.

A lot of reading there! What Jesus said was this: “Let he who has not lain with this woman cast
the first stone.” This has more impact. People take sinfulness with a ‘grain of salt’. Think of your own sins. How badly does it really bother you, even if you do recognize them. I thought so.

The verse using the word ‘sinfulness’ evades the personal responsibility one must bear for ones actions. Jesus reminded them of their culpability.

The problem with the literal reading of the bible is that it truncates thoughtful reasoning. I’m not suggesting that the bible is all allegory for some of it is literal. I’m saying just use your brain and personal experiences as a standard of reference in judging truth and not rely on thoughtless belief especially other’s beliefs. That goes doubly for my writing, too.

Great writing again, thanks.
So I’m visiting with one of my high school age granddaughters a couple weeks ago, asking her about school. She responds that one of her favorite classes was “Trends”, or something like that. “So what do you learn in Trends?” I ask…”Well, current events, and what is happening in the world”. On further inquiry, of course in school they had never discussed The Fourth Turning, nor had my granddaughter ever heard of The Fourth Turnings. I gave my brief 15 minute rundown of the book, and how important I thought it was. Later in the evening she was on line researching The Fourth Turning. I asked if she would like the book, and yes, she would. So I sent the book when I got home, and am anxious to discuss it next time I see her.
The above article, in my view, will make for a great starting point for a Fourth Turning Discussion with her.

Blue, I fully understand your frustration. So many people in this country are completely blinded by the continual propaganda they have been fed for so many decades.

One thing that has truly made me less frustrated with the way things are, is to practice living in the moment. If we think about it, the moment is all we are given. The past is gone and the future hasn’t arrived. We are only fully alive in the Now. This very present moment is all we have. So what are we doing with that moment?

It seems the more I contemplate the “dark” future of mayhem, chaos, and destruction; the more I find myself distracted from the very important duties and privileges of everyday life that are wrapped up in intimate moment by moment living.

We really have no way of predicting our individual futures. We may get hit by a bus tomorrow, or mugged and murdered in a blind alley a year from now. By worrying about how we might check out of this life and when, robs us of the moment by moment hopes we should be focusing on.

Having said that, that doesn’t mean we should not be aware of the dangers and pitfalls of the society in which we live. Warning others and taking action where we can to reverse the madness should be our responsibility, but allowing the whole mess to color our productivity, joy, and hopeful personal interactions should be shunned as much as possible. I’m not implying your comment insinuated you weren’t focusing on the moment, just realizing just how important it is to do so to maintain sanity.

What a great comment. I am also trying to stay and enjoy the present moments. Easier said than done though. However, I might slightly disagree with you on one point, sometimes thinking about but not obsessing about death or misfortune can cause you to enjoy the present moment more. See the Stoic idea of negative visualization.

I’m a pessimist. The United States is an old and no longer cohesive nation. The Anglo Saxon nation of the 18th, 19th and first half of the 20th century is gone. Manifest Destiny to seize and settle the continent was achieved and great national endeavors like the Panama Canal, the Interstate Highway System and the Moon Landings are over. We are too indebted to undertake any great new initiative and half the nation sees only racism and male privilege even where there is private success and the other half, with good reason, views the success of the FANGS with suspicion. About the only thing both sides might agree on is the confiscation of this private wealth as there is no legitimate reason to allow personal fortunes of such stupendous size.

* I note even the feudal Saudi Arabia has decided it has had enough of billionaire princes and their retainers looting the wealth of that nation and a little over a century ago Teddy Roosevelt broke up the private fortunes of the Gilded Age. How long before someone, maybe Trump himself, says Bezos, Buffett, Gates, Ellison we don’t mind you being rich but fortunes of $50 billion plus have no place in a democratic society.

The “Unbearable Slowness” of this Fourth Turning can also be an opportunity to prepare. A cabin on a lake in western Ontario (with only fly-in access) would be ideal, but obviously not realistic for most of us. Regardless, everyone should be thinking about a Plan B. Just have somewhere safe to go to if everything suddenly goes tits-up. Seriously. Having a small cache of essentials stored at the location is cheap insurance. If you fear that your family will think that you’re a paranoid nut, then don’t tell them about it for now. But prepare nonetheless.

Let’s also add to this litany of events covered in this fine article the Las Vegas massacre. Most everyone who’s not been living under a rock for the past several months knows that this is the most bizarre and perplexing event to have ever occurred in this nation’s history. After a month and a half no reasonable motive for the supposed shooter has been proffered. Some YouTubers have posted videos from concert goers cell phones revealing, they claim, that there was clearly a second automatic weapon firing off from a lower level floor of the Mandalay Bay structure. Lawyers who are representing victims’ families, or those who were only injured or traumatized in the incident are not getting any cooperation from the state or federal agencies involved in investigating this massacre. Lawyers, who visited the site of the concert discovered anomalies regarding the venue map’s exit points didn’t match what was found there the next day or so; fences blocked many of the exits. The chaos and slow response from the Las Vegas police and county sheriffs was not only embarrassing, but a fiasco by today’s emergency response standards. Changing timelines, videos coming from business owners capturing a couple of guys dragging a dead person’s body into the business’s parking lot and left for roughly 45 minutes before police arrive are disturbing, to say the least. Then, there’s the security guard, Campos, who has clearly been carefully manged by MGM who owns the company that broadcasts the Ellen DeGeneres Show where he was interviewed with “softball” questions from her; causing suspicion that MGM is making sure incriminating remarks don’t get out to the press. It’s being predicted by some lawyers that n0 details on the investigation’s findings will be released until next April! Just one more example of just how weird things are getting as we approach the next unexpected event to come along and throw us for a loop.

Las Vegas was a criminal act, a perplexing one, but a murderous criminal act. I doubt the ‘conspiracy’ theories of there being multiple shooters but, a month and half later, every bullet recovered from every victim should have been matched with every gun in Paddock’s hotel room. If any recovered bullet did not match a gun from Paddock’s room then we have a problem.

While the confusion over the timeline was regrettable the public understands a police chief trying to be forthcoming can make a mistake. What they don’t understand and resent is an FBI swooping in and shutting down ALL information about the shooting and turning a heretofore publicly available police chief into a Stepford wife spewing words clearly not his own.

At another level, if this is the ‘quality’ of the work we get from law enforcement over a horrible mass casualty event, what are people to think of the more mundane government announcements on unemployment and inflation rates? As I noted earlier the public can understand mistakes. The Air Force admitted to a major one in the matter of the Texas church gunman. What the public cannot accept but what it is being continuously subjected to is being kept in the dark or lied to and that seems to be the default setting of the FBI!

One of the helicopters picked up the prince and his entourage from one of the hotels. There were also Saudi soldiers on the airport tarmac, where gunshots were reportedly fired. I dunno, I’ve been a 4th Turning believer for years and years, but my confidence is a bit shaken. I’ve sort of felt like the whole country was falling apart for practically my whole life. 2008 hardly seems like the turning point. It seemed huge at the time, but now it seems merely like one of an ever-increasing series of outrages and disasters. It’s not like swells at sea where you can time it and figure 3 smalls, then a large, then three more smalls, or something. Somehow, it always seems like the next disaster is worse than the last. If a baby gets tossed in a dumpster this week, next week a baby will be fed to pit bulls. The week after, a baby gets jammed into a blender for crying too much. And the week after that, the whole apartment is torched for the same reason.
I’ve been expecting the S to H The F for so long, I’m starting to lose faith in my assumptions.

It is definitely a forest for the trees issue. We’ve become inured to outrageous behavior and villainy so that nothing seems to be enough to warrant calling it what it is: societal collapse. I know it’s not historical, but was Soddom and Gommorah humming along just fine before it was smote? The wreckage was simply the relief valve blowing off.

The book is called the DECLINE and fall of the Roman Empire for a reason. The larger and more complex something is the more inertia it has both keeping it going (like a flywheel) as well as in coming apart.

We have an interesting view because we’ve been expecting this, but as with any other natural event it has its own time.

A watched pot never boils.

Being a newbie here, I am not familiar with how the people here interact with each other and their thought processes. Given time I will have a handle on it..
I can usually tell when folks are serious or simply joking or maybe being sarcastic over at ANP. Because I have been there awhile.
ANP is all news pipeline and I highly recommend it.

They’re just fuckin’ with ya, Harv and Gilbert. Hit back hard when necessary. El Coyote is a long-time troll here who has become loved for his wit and intelligence. He’s an L.A. beaner (with some Texas background, which gives him a bit of street-cred with the Rednecks here).

My advice to Gilbert: Don’t up-and-move to anywhere you haven’t visited multiple times. And have an exit plan in the case that it doesn’t work out. Never go “all-in” with a relocation. That can be difficult if you don’t have significant financial resources. Whatever you decide to do, just be cautious. I sincerely wish you the best in your quest for a better location to live.

One more thing: IMHO, the best-kept secret of great places to live in the U.S. is Wisconsin.

Yes, but depending on which source you consult, there’s a 10% chance it will explode any time soon, geologically speaking. Also, either it will be an instant roasting, and it won’t matter, or we’ll have sufficient warning to evacuate and the eruptions are projected to span a series of weeks, not 1 single apocalyptic blast. SO I think I’m willing to roll the dice on that one.

For those interested, I found an audio download of Antifragile which I am listening to off and on right now with approved headphones that are guaranteed to not scare away deer while I listen and think about the indications around me defining my environment: Are we Robust or are we Fragile, and if fragile, how might we become more anti-fragile?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80f2eneJ6EU

I’m serious about feeling more people would benefit from bending their minds around the theory’s presentation of how the concept of fragile versus antifragile systems can be considered in a spiraling sort of way; economic leads to political leads to history leads to science leads to psychobabble leads to religion and the next thing you grasp is that this guy has managed to make you cross that bridge between segmented realms (what if math really is related to art and poetry? What is a song if not math and poetry together?) where great thinkers go to quit considering other points of view.

I’m off to check the Fragility of the ecosystem here regarding the hunt for the prince of november.

One year after Trump’s rhetorical war on elites produced a shocking electoral victory, the president still talks and tweets like a populist, promising lower taxes, better health care and terrific infrastructure for hardworking families. But it is now possible to evaluate Trump’s policy priorities based on more than his words. And a review of his executive orders, personnel picks, budget choices and regulatory actions, as well as the legislation he has backed from the White House, show that he has mostly governed as a corporatist, siding with big businesses, wealthy individuals and the Republican establishment on almost every domestic issue. His agenda has neatly fit the playbook of the K Street lobbyists and conservative ideologues he attacked and mocked last year on the campaign trail, pushing to slash funding for nursing homes and student loans, gut rules protecting workers from toxic chemicals, and cut taxes for the rich.

Trump touts his tax reforms as the biggest middle-class tax cut ever, but independent analysts say nearly half the benefits in the House Republican bill would go to the top 1 percent of taxpayers, while tens of millions of middle-class families would actually see their taxes go up. He campaigned on a pledge to protect Medicaid from cuts, but as president he’s pushed health care bills and budget plans that would have cut Medicaid by well over $1 trillion. His long-promised trillion-dollar infrastructure bill has yet to materialize. Trump also promised a war on financial elites, accusing Wall Street in general and Goldman Sachs in particular of bleeding the country dry, but he has stocked his administration with Wall Street veterans—and installed Goldman alumni as his Treasury secretary, top economic adviser, deputy national security adviser and chief strategist. His top Wall Street regulator is a former attorney for Goldman and the husband of a Goldman wealth manager.

I remember the wife of a federal employee claiming her husbands retirement could never be touched because he earned it ! I said is the funds 100% in his name she said no it’s what the government owes him when he retires he earned it . Again I pressed where is the money now ? She did not know ! I said you do realize the only way government pensions can be paid is by taxing and confiscating wealth from the rest of America who have been cheated out of their retirement or printing money to fulfill the promise with inflated worthless paper . Her response was he earned it !
This exchange was at a tea party rally in Annopolis a few blocks away from Maryland’s den of thieves and a few miles from DC .
Not once did I ever dispute he should recieve what was promised she just couldn’t get that he should not get his by stealing everyone else’s !

The funny thing about the agonizing slowness that we are seem to be noticing is that there are two responses we can choose. We can choose to wish things would hurry up and be resolved one way or the other, sorta like just ripping off a bandage instead of slowly peeling it off your skin. This is path seems to be my inclination, but it puts me in a position of essentially rooting for the destruction of society as we know it. The other path is one of gratitude where we realize there is only so much time available for us before whatever climatic event occurs and instead of wishing for it to arrive sooner, we take the time we have to make preparations, spend time with loved ones, enjoy the life that we have while we have it. Although we find ourselves living in a world gone mad maybe we should try to spend more energy being in the now instead of looking forward to some unavoidable bleak future.

It always amazed me when commenters would wish for this crisis to hurry up and get here. I guess I understand that if a 4th Turning can not be avoided it may as well hurry up and get here, I guess…..
I really fear though, what we may face globally and amongst ourselves. I’m trying very hard not to get caught up in the manufactured media reporting and try to identify what is real hate and manufactured hate.

It’s been posited that the life span of empires is some 200 to 250 years, beginning with self sacrifice and conquest and ending with disintegration, decadence and selfishness. This occurring over some ten generations.

This 4th turning could very well be coinciding with the end of the America empire, a cycle within a cycle. It’s said the stages that empires go through are quite predictable, but what is not predictable is how the collapse manifests itself.

2025? lol aint nuthin gonna change by then. We’ll be at $40 trillion in national debt, healthcare will cost $2000 a month with $17k deductible, tuition will cost $70k a year, everyone in the bottom 99% will be busted ass broke as more and more money gets printed and given to the rich, and no one will do a damn thing about it. WTF kind of fourth turning is that?

Most of us will be “renting” a self driving car for $500 a month just to commute to and from work. Instead of paying for a car for $500x12x5 months and being able to drive wherever we want, we will pay the same amount of money just to have our bare minimum transportation needs met. A new car will cost $40k minimum so most people will be priced out of ownership. And yet they will say that inflation is only 1% so even more money needs to be printed. This isnt a goddam fourth turning, it is just a perpetual rape of the sheeple who will keep voting for more and more of it.

When I wrote my essay about “The Changing of the Guard”, it was with the fourth turning in mind.

There are several possibilities of what the actual trigger will be and I think that the globalists maneuvering the US into a war with Iran are possibly one of them.

I also tried my best to get some information of a part of the ‘proven’ natural gas resources of the US. I used the 2016 published figures in my essay, but I’m not sure if I believe them.

In my business with the oil and gas industry, I deal primarily with what is called downstream – the refineries and chemical plants. I have very little contact or connections with upstream – drilling and exploration.

BUT

I am active in several engineering groups here including two local ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) and the Houston chapter of the VI (Vibration Institute). In fact, I am on the board of the local VI chapter.

Some of these members do have direct work with upstream and they have been telling me for the past few years that the reported US natural gas reserves are being vastly understated. Some say by as much as 500%.

If true, that changes the dynamic of the amount that controlling the natural gas resources of Russia, the US, Iran, and Qatar to something like 80+%.

That’s more than just the controlling interest. That is to control both the allocation of these resources worldwide and perhaps even more importantly, to who they are NOT allocated to.

With the globalists already controlling the narrative against coal, and most oil-based products, that would leave natural gas and renewable energy as the only sources to produce electricity. Renewables are not yet cost effective and likely will not be for quite some time. Nuclear climbs, but not enough to change the dynamic.

That leaves natural gas the primary source to produce our electricity. Control that and you control it all.

If anyone here at TBP has any access to information about the actual ‘proven’ natural gas resources in the US please share them with me. I would very much like to pursue this.

Holy shite Steve…….Finally someone here that understands what is going on. I have been trying to tell these guys for several years that natural gas is the next biggy. The USA!USA!USA! will be a major exporter of LNG as we are silly with the stuff.
LNG powering fuel cells will be the way electricity is produced in the future. Private homes will use NG to produce power from fuel cells.

Also, please share info on vibration, that is lost knowledge that was in use 2000 years ago including medicine.

The three 4th turnings in U.S. history have led to more government in our lives. I worry that the next 4th turning could usher in that dreaded One World Government, since i believe, as do others, the whole world will be included in the next 4th turning. With all the world’s banks connected and dependent on each other it’s to be expected.
For once, I would like to see a reversal and end up with less government in our lives. Maybe the fourth time is a charm, like a lucky 4-leaf clover. Let’s hope, anyway.

“Has the exiting corrupt social order successfully retained their power, control and influence over the masses by manipulating the levers of society and fending off their demise? ”

A good question, it appears to me, that this battle is raging, right now. With each passing day Trump secures his position, digs in deeper, makes ‘deals’, positions personnel and becomes harder to dislodge.
Look at ISIS, fuckin done, obliterated, very little talk of this, if any.
Look at the Kingdom, clearly paradigm shifting events taking place right now.
I am certain Trump’s Asia trip was a big deal in ways we are not fully aware of yet.
The legacy of the Bush, Clinton, and Obama crime families combined with various Establishment satellites, is on the ropes. The smell of desperation is in the air.
Trump has proven more effective and resilient than expected, the gloves must come off, his power is becoming consolidated.
In our Global setting, Americas fourth, Fourth Turning will most certainly be domestic and global, as that is the nature of the key participants power, likely fought with fourth generation warfare, occurring on so many fronts there will be no front.

It was pretty conclusive for the Russian, Austro-Hungarian and Turkish Empires. The Versailles Treaty changed the world forever (and not in a good way). In 1914, women wore corsets, boots, hats with ostrich feathers and nary an ankle was ever shown. In 1924, women wore thin knee length cotton dresses and no undergarments except panties. SSS would have been shocked at the public display of nipplage.

Zara, I believe the 20’s have been compared to the 60’s as far as youth rebellion and descent into deviancy are concerned. The women wore stockings, and underclothes as well. It was just more comfortable and freeing than the older corsets and petticoats. Hemlines never really rose above they knee. They went up and down from several inches above the ankle to just below the knee. The swim suits were a bit scandalous.

“However another myth of the 1920’s is of women abandoning corsets completely. Long-line elasticated smooth corsets replaced the old laced affairs of the previous decade and doubly served to enhance the tubular look which women wished to achieve. These newer synthetic corsets also sported zips down the side. The one-piece camisole replaced the old cotton chemise and were now made in silks, cut low to wear under evening dresses.”

RE: The Bush, Clinton, and Obama crime families… etc…
These controlling forces appear to be a passing fashion from my point of view. They will be used as long as the masses respond to the brand. When the brand fades, they will be discarded by the power base and thrown under the bus to be replaced by a new brand. Should be fun to watch, but no more noteworthy in the end than my Gloria Vanderbilt jeans.

As for me, I am a Lurker in the 1st degree. I have never commented on this or any site and quite likely will not again. Why do I lurk? I suppose I am in search of any evidence to support my sanity, or at least the hope that I am not alone in my insanity. My family continues to crack with the society. I find less in common with most everyone around me every day. I hide this truth from my son, who I am currently putting through college with the fiat scrap that is still under my control. I figure I might as well spend it on something of my choosing. Besides, maybe it will work out for him, and prove my discontent meaningless in the end. I would like that.

The worst of it is not the thought that we are probably much like farmed cattle. There will always be power in this life. The worst is the futility of the everyday mill. Perhaps that is where the hope for catastrophe comes from. Change is interesting.

When I make any comment with even a shadow of these thoughts to friends and family, I get a blank confusion in response. No fear or rage, more like I told a joke that nobody got… and they move on. Oh Well.

In closing, I hope there are a million like me. Lurking out there. Hello to all of you. Maybe someday we will meet. I ultimately wrote this to let everyone know that I also will send my donation via snail mail. I don’t like supporting the banks with card fees and pay cash for most everything.

My book is in storage. It was highlighted, underlined, bookmarked and probably wouldn’t bring much on a used book website even if I would sell it. I won’t see it again until we move in the spring.

I read it twice and tried again while I was in chemo. Your brain is mush when you are in chemo and your eyes temporarily change so it’s hard to read anything like that. I gave up and read mostly fiction. I don’t know if your brain ever comes back all the way after that. I tried to convince my husband to read it to no avail. He is quite intelligent but it’s just not his cup of tea. Matter of fact, no one I know is interested in reading it. It’s just not for everyone.
My nephew, who is left leaning, encouraged me to read it. I think it fell out of his favor after it became known that Bannon was a 4th Turning junkie.

So imagine my delight when came across TBP several years ago. I’m not usually willing to remark in forums. If I am on one, then that’s the only one I will comment on. I usually didn’t read past the first few comments, I was just happy to know other people were talking about this book.

Some random thoughts I made note of after reading this the first time then skimming it again:

The “Battle lines being drawn” list of sides was interesting, particularly “SJW’s and normal people…Hollywood deviants and people with morals…academia and people with common sense. All of those people look down on us as being uneducated, philistine, or possibly even stupid beyond all hope.

I think a 4th Turning is like an undiagnosed disease, like cancer. It will completely take them by surprise when it becomes obvious that we are in a crisis unlike any we have ever experience before. Even we, who are aware, will not be prepared for it. I am aware that my cancer could return. Being aware that it could happen will still not prepare me to deal with it a second time. I know women who this has happened to and you just can’t prepare yourself for it. The only thing we have going for us is that we maybe can spring into action quicker than others who will walk around in denial or go into panic mode.

I think this is the last 4th Turning. Now I am NOT saying the end of the world is nigh.

What I am saying is that unless we blow ourselves to kingdom come first, and I don’t really think that will happen, there will not be another one. While I do believe there will be an end to this world as we know it, I don’t think that will happen in the next few years. There may be a WW III, there may be a CW2 in the next few years, but even if those two things didn’t happen, have you been keeping track of how fast technology is changing? There has to be a few techo-nerds on here. I am sure they could speak to this.

Moores Law anyone? AI? Driverless Cars? Chimeras? These people want immortality, to be as gods. That is a really old cycle, ya know.
At this website, The Emerging Future, there are charts about the speed of tech changes and they look like the proverbial “hockey stick”!

“Know your machines and computer systems. Computers and machines have become intuitive, autonomous, and self-sustaining. Really great work! I got here from ZH . I have to start reading this blog more often. I think the “catalyst” may be cascading municipal and state defaults. The cities are thoroughly corrupt but they can’t print currency like Uncle Scam can. Maybe Dallas stops paying retirees, then some other city and all municipal bonds become junk, police and fire don’t get paid, etc. As has been stated many times on prepper web sites, when the SHTF and the gibsmedat spigot runs dry, urban areas won’t be the best place to be.

You know, if state and local governments were smart, the police would be the last people they stop paying, at least until they can go into hiding. Let’s hope they don’t figure that one out.

Super essay. great timing. I read 4T about 13 years ago. I have a couple dog eared copies lying around and I’ve given copies to several people over the years. 10 years ago, when I would talk about prepping and what the future likely held some people would just roll their eyes. “dramatize much”? They don’t do that anymore. These days folks I work with admit they’re scared. They know something’s gonna’ blow. And I keep it low key. I tell them I worry that something could happen or some situation may arise where food and energy production and distribution get” interrupted for a time”. They can guess what comes next. Once at work a woman came into my lab, where I had a milkshake sitting next to a sink, and she poured it out and threw the container in the trash. (we’re not allowed to have food in the lab. Safety don’t ya know) I’d left it there for a second to unlock my office door. I told a sympathetic coworker who saw it, “someday she is going to dream about that milkshake, and wake up with her pillow soaked in drool after she’s been without real food for a few weeks”. He agreed.
