I like the Sagans.
Saw Jeff Daniels interviewed recently. He indicated taking the d&d role was calculated to show his range (as an actor). And that it did contribute to his career with downstream roles. He lives in MI, moved back to his roots decades ago eschews Hollywood, the lifestyle, refused to raise his kids there.
Popular movies ain’t metric-litmus, nor diagnostic. Dumb flicks & dumb flickers line up same way busted clocks do. A “pattern.”
What metric-litmus the Wiz of Oz, or Mr. Smith goes to Washington? Did the stooges play geniuses? Laurel &\or Hardy, Gracie Allen, Gilligan Bob Denver, Jeannie’s Hagman, Samantha’s Darren, etc on & on forever. Fools for laughs for sale. Foolish to be fearful of straightman depictions of foolishness.

What I find fascinating as an old man approaching expectancy is that the American population, via the intentional dumbing down of native stock and massive immigration, seems to have reached a critical mass of perpetual adolescence. We’ve become the National Enquirer Nation. If I could paraphrase Andy Warhol my guess is by the year 2050 everyone in America will have been offended; everyone in America will have been forced to apologize to someone else.

Sad and accurate observation… here we are. I was waiting for a revolution that never came.
The USSR Proletariat revolted against their ZOG Oligarch Tyrants 20 years ago but the American people still sit around like dumb sheep either unaware of what’s to come (being led to their own slaughter by the ZOG) or to worthless to fight back. I sure hope Trump is really on our side (666 on his staff and making the CIA Chief the Secretary of State are Bad).
