How to Determine If You Should Talk About Politics in Public

Guest Post by Scott Adams

When candidate Trump first set about the job of redefining politics (and reality) back in 2015, people had lots of predictions about how things would turn out. One year isn’t long enough to know everything we need to know about his presidency, but it’s long enough to to check some of our predictions. As a public service, I put together a list of predictions that various people made about Trump that you can use to evaluate your own predictive powers. Count the number of items on the list that you once predicted would be true. I’ll tell you how to evaluate your score at the end.

Did you once believe…

It is my sincere desire to provide readers of this site with the best unbiased information available, and a forum where it can be discussed openly, as our Founders intended. But it is not easy nor inexpensive to do so, especially when those who wish to prevent us from making the truth known, attack us without mercy on all fronts on a daily basis. So each time you visit the site, I would ask that you consider the value that you receive and have received from The Burning Platform and the community of which you are a vital part. I can't do it all alone, and I need your help and support to keep it alive. Trump will never win the GOP nomination.

Trump will never win the presidency.

Stocks will drop if Trump is elected.

President Trump will deport ten million illegal immigrants.

Trump will be gone (impeached, jailed, or quit) by end of 2017.

Trump’s immigration ban on several Muslim countries will be found unconstitutional.

Trump colluded with Russia, and that’s a crime.

Trump obstructed justice (a crime) by firing Comey.

Trump’s skills as a “con man” might get him elected but it won’t transfer into doing the job of president.

Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will cause huge problems.

Trump’s tweeting will cause huge problems.

GOP will never embrace Trump.

Trump will get nothing important done.

Trump will not work effectively with leaders of other countries.

GOP senators will vote against GOP priorities because of President Trump’s mean tweets.

Trump will not nominate qualified judges to the Supreme Court.

Trump is incompetent.

Presidential approval polls are a good predictor of how a president will perform.

The military won’t follow Trump’s orders.

GDP will never stay above 3%.

— end —

I didn’t get any of those predictions wrong. But if you got 15 or more wrong, you might want to consider never saying anything about politics out loud again for the rest of your life. Just a suggestion.

Clinton supporter expresses surprise at his lack of prescience

Okay, okay. I know you are quibbling with a few items I included on the list. Maybe you think the bad news for Trump — such as the alleged Russia problems — will sink Trump eventually. We can revisit this list next year. But if you are wrong for three years straight — about almost everything Trump-related — please adjust your confidence in your predictive powers accordingly.

If you got 15 or more of those predictions wrong, please consider reading a copy of my book, Win Bigly, to learn how to use what I call the Persuasion Filter to predict better.

The only one I agree with is,
“GOP will never embrace Trump,”
since *I* define the GOP as the GOPe (i.e. GOP establishment).
That is still true…and will be, until enough RINO weasels
retire, are primaried out or, in any case, are utterly out-numbered
by Trump-Agenda-supporting GOP folks.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, all!

Yes, I’m batting 100% also, but still don’t think the GOPe will ever embrace Trump…But I don’t generally believe anything talking heads say about anything.

You have hand it to Scott. After the healthcare repeal and replace fiasco, he predicted Trump would be viewed as more competent by the end of the year. He was right .

Trump is the first person to fight back against the establishment and the results are astonishing. The establishment is at best a mud and thatch wall of strength where their beliefs have turned into their rainstorm of destruction.

Trump’s approval numbers might be misleading. I totally disapprove of the lack of wall. If they started building the wall, I’d approve my ass off.

My best guess (and hope), I may be one of those wrong in 2018, is Trump will start to build the wall,
P-Off the MSM, SJWs, Dem-Socialists, RINOs, etc, but the 50% of the public will love it. Building the wall during the mid term election will drive the narrative, and the other 50% of the public Bat Poop Crazy!

Since that wall depends on actions by Congress, have you written or called your Congressthing about it yet?

Trump can’t do it by himself, he needs your help to do it.

Iska he just promised a beautiful wall. That’s all. Maybe next year you’ll get your wish..

As for the book I can vouch that is good. He talks about how to become a Master Persuader. I have a ways to go but I can see the light. What I do find most fascinating right now is those opposed to Trump are doubling down on stupid. Rather than accepting the facts as they are these folks still rather make up fables on the ground.

Mr. Adams in his book sez that the decision making part of brain is 90% irrational with remainder left to formulate excuses. I am starting to think that percentage, at least for those who claim to be left leaning, is much higher. All evidence points to it being quite near 100%…

The problem with the people who got 15 or more of them wrong is this- they don’t think they got any of them wrong- even the ones for which the there is iron-clad proof, such as Trump winning the presidency.

That ends up with the choir singing to the choir instead of to the congregation.
