US Marine Corps General Warns “I Hope I’m Wrong, But There’s A War Coming”

Tyler Durden's picture

Pointing towards the near future possibility of Russia and the Pacific theater being the next major areas of conflict, a US Marine Corps commandant warned troops station in Norway to be prepared for a coming war.

As Military.com reports, the stated goals of the Marine Corps’ newest rotational force in Norway are to enhance partnerships with European allies and improve the service’s ability to fight in cold weather.

But on a brief visit to the 300-member unit ahead of Christmas, the commandant and the sergeant major of the Marine Corps both described the strategic role the small unit fills — and the fact that a peacetime mission can be preface to combat if circumstances change.

“I hope I’m wrong, but there’s a war coming,” Gen. Robert Neller told them.

“You’re in a fight here, an informational fight, a political fight, by your presence.”

Fox News writes that Neller pointed to the near future possibility of Russia and the Pacific theater being the next major areas of conflict.

Sgt. Maj. Ronald Green sounded a similar tone.

“Just remember why you’re here,” Green said.

“They’re watching. Just like you watch them, they watch you. We’ve got 300 Marines up here; we could go from 300 to 3,000 overnight. We could raise the bar.”

The warnings came a day before Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told troops at Fort Bragg, N.C., that “storm clouds are gathering” over the Korean Peninsula.

At a Q&A session with the troops in the Norwegian Home Guard base near Trondheim, Neller said that the U.S. could shift its focus from the Middle East to Eastern Europe, citing Russia’s conflicts with Ukraine and Georgia as justification.

He told the Marines that they should be prepared for a “big-ass fight” on the horizon.

The real discussion should be: Why the F does the US keep military forces in Norway and every other nook and crannie of the globe at the tax-payer expense?
What kind of hypocrisy is it to surround Russia with military weapons, bases, troops and even nukes and then call them the bad guys or use the term “Russian aggression?”
They have already tried to overthrow countries to Russia’s south ( Syria/Iraq), to their west ( Ukraine), and now are wanting to overthrow a country that shares a Russian border in the far east ( Korea)…… if I were Putin, I’d strike first–it is clear the US MIC is itching to conquer the world and the insane globalists are all-in on this strategy too.

America is Rome at the end of the empire.

They are overextended. Their tax base is drying up. The welfare class is growing. Nationalism is fading as anyone that steps foot on American soil can now gain citizenship.

When being an American means nothing, you’ll have an army of people show up, but no one will fight for the nation.

Because it needs to. If it didn’t, in the absence of a global cop, we’d probably have at least 3 mass murdering rogue nations going for world domination at any cost, and probably more. For starters there’s the fat kid in North Korea (he’s playing with weaponized bioweapons now), Iran, and had not Uncle Sam intervened, Iraq. Those last two would have started WW3 by now. Pakistan and India would be good for a couple million casualties too.

In the last two world wars the USA was caught with its pants down when war broke out. America and the allies came within a red cnut hair of losing the last one. The reason for that was they listened to guys like you, who saw no need to defend themselves with icky guns, tanks, and militaries. You morons just wanted to be left alone, and are dumb enough to think that others will do that.

Do you even read the articles posted here? There’s a rising majority of people that think you should not be able to voice an opinion – look at what’s happening on Fecesbook, Twatter and Youtube. There’s mobs of people that will rise up against you if they are triggered by your opinion. They pander to vibrant, violent racist minorities that will assault and kill whites because of skin colour. That’s just inside our own borders. Get out of your parent’s basement and travel – Venezuela, Haiti, etc. I dunno about you, but it feels downright 1939-ish out there to me.

You maintain a strong military presence, child, to mitigate the damage when the chit hits the fan. The proper question a mature adult might ask in these interesting times is, “Why is America the only world cop now? Why isn’t anyone else chipping in to help?”

Answer that honestly – and you will know why America’s presence, and more importantly, it’s military… is needed now more than ever.

Glen

You should get out in the world and you just might notice the death and destruction by one mass murdering nation. Your reference to world domination is spot on – who is the one nation stomping his imperial boot across every corner of the world to be the world hegemon.
Is it possible for your limited grey matter to determine that one nation?

Dead nuts on!

It is very trendy lately to reference “fight club”metaphors. Guess what, the very same ethos that is embraced to throw off the shackles of consumerism and the loss of your previously virile manhood is even more applicable to the word at large. All you end of empire whiners think that the Russia’s , Iran’sand the China’s of the world will scale back and play nice if we just rollover (like Barry Obama did), you could not be more wrong and tragically delusional.
Fight club is the way of the world since the rock starting turning, you either fight or be somebody’s bitch. Go tour Europe (while you can), the same slow motion disaster is going on here with the blessing of the left, you really think you will be safe and overlooked as you sit at your screens and tut tut about empire this and that, the fourth turning yada yada yada ????

Your only real choice is on your feet or on your knees.

If I a. correct, the number of Marines assigned to Norway is about the size of the Marine Garrison at Wake Island in December 1941. Norway, a fighting ally? They won’t even defend themselves from the invasion of Mideastern parasites.

Answer: NATO

We need to get of of it.

As well as the UN.

But I doubt that will be happening anytime soon, no one of any significance seems to be demanding either since the Birchers gave up on it.

Keeping troops in Norway, at considerable expense, is just freaking nuts.Apart from the cost, they would be overrun in hours if Russia attacked…And this General has lost his mind if he thinks Norway is going to be involved in any “fight.”

What I find interesting is Russia removing much of its air power in Syria (not that it couldn’t be brought back). Surely Russia knows that once Syria (Assad) is defeated and a US puppet is installed, or that a balkanization occurs in Syria (a corridor not controlled by Syria and also eliminates any entry of weapons from Iran to Lebanon), that Iran will be the next target for Regime Change which would then leave Russia almost isolated except for China. Russia’s energy business, its major contributor to GDP, would then be decimated. Checkmate.

Russia knows this – I just can’t believe they will let Assad lose.

Stucky

Probably not as bad as it seems. Russia is keeping their naval facility and new air Base.

————–

“At the same time, Moscow has made clear it is keeping its old naval facility in Tartous, to the west of Homs, and the new air base at Khmeimim, which would allow it a quick redeployment if necessary. The Russians are also leaving the Syrian Army with new weapons (including anti-aircraft missiles and new battle tanks such as the formidable T90s) as well as numerous military advisers.”

See “Why Putin has pulled Russia out of Syria” below.

Of course there is another war coming. THAT IS WHAT THEY DO. The entire political establishment is premised on constantly poking one hornet’s nest or another until war brings huge profits to the bottom lines of the corporations owned and controlled by the same globalists that actually control the US and most western nations’ governments. Nothing new here. Its been that way since……well, the late 1700s?

War is pretty much the natural state of man, it is peace that is the abnormal one.

Even during the “Pax Romana”, a supposed 200 year span of peace, there were constant small wars being waged here and there throughout the Empire. One would be put down and another would pop up somewhere else.
