World War 3 Is Approaching

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

“In a nuclear war the “collateral damage” would be the life of all humanity.”Fidel Castro

The Russians, in their anxiety to show the West how friendly they are, left Washington with a toe hold in Syria, which Washington is using to reopen the war. The Russians’ failure to finish the job has left Washington’s foreign mercenaries, misrepresented in the American presstitute media as “freedom fighters,” in a Syrian enclave. To get the war going again, Washington has to find a way to come to the aid of its mercenaries.

The Trump regime has found, or so it thinks, its excuse in the revival of the Obama regime’s fake charge of Syrian use of chemical weapons. This made-up lie by the Obama regime was put to rest by Russian intervention that made sure there were no Syrian chemical weapons. Indeed, if memory serves, Russia delivered the chemical weapons to the US for destruction. Little doubt Washington still has them and will use some of them with their Syrian markings for what appears to be a coming false flag attack that can be blamed on Assad. In other words, Washington will create a “situation,” blame Assad and Putin, and with or without congressional authorization introduce US intervention in behalf of Washington’s mercenaries. https://www.globalresearch.ca/russia-warns-us-against-attacking-syrian-forces/5631930

If we can believe James Mattis, the retired US Marine General who is US Secretary of Defense, Syria, a country without chemical weapons and in need of none in its mopping up operations against Washington’s mercenaries, is using chlorine gas “against its own people,” exactly the same phrase as the Obama regime used when Obama tried to orchestrate an excuse to attack Syria. Mattis said that he is receiving reports of chlorine gas use by Assad while simultaneously saying he has no evidence of gas use, much less by the Syrian Army.

The US Secretary of Defense actually accused Syria of “targeting hospitals” with chlorine gas even though he admits there is no evidence. Mattis went on to accuse Russia of complicity in killing civilians, an endeavor in which the US excels.

Stephen Lendman reports that CIA Director Pompeo “suggested a US attack on Syrian forces may be forthcoming, saying Trump won’t tolerate CW [chemical weapons] attacks, adding he hasn’t made a decision on the latest reports about chlorine gas use.” http://stephenlendman.org/2018/03/mattis-threatens-us-military-action-syrian-forces/

US Secretary of State Tillerson joined the orchestrated allegation even though he admitted there was no evidence. https://www.rt.com/usa/421091-skripal-tillerson-russia-response/

Of course, there has not been any chlorine gas use unless by the Washington-supplied mercenaries. But facts are not important to Washington. What is important to Washington is Israel’s demand that Washington destroy Syria and Iran in order to get rid of Hezbollah’s supporters so that Israel can seize southern Lebanon.

No doubt that other interests are in on the plot. Oil companies that want to control the location of oil and gas pipelines, the crazed neocons married to their ideology of American World Hegemony, the military/security complex that needs enemies and conflicts to justify its massive budget. But it is Israel’s determination to expand its boundaries and water resources that set all of the Middle East conflict in motion.

Does Russia understand this, or is the Russian government preoccupied with eventually winning acceptance by the West as a part of the West? If the latter, the world is heading for nuclear war.The Russian government does not seem to understand that its pusillanimous response encourages Washington’s aggression and, thereby, is driving the world to the final war.

Every time Russia fails to finish the job, as in Syria and Ukraine, Russia does not win Washington’s friendship, but extends to Washington yet another run at prevailing in the conflict that Washington initiated. Washington will not slack off until Washington is halted in its track, something that Russia does not seem willing to do. Consequently, Washington continues to drive the world to nuclear war.

When will the Russians notice that literally everyone in the Trump regime is issuing threats to Russia— Mattis, Tillerson, Nikki Haley, government spokespersons, the UK PM and UK Foreign Secretary. Yet the Russians still speak about their “partners” and how much they want to get along with the West.

There is no prospect whatsoever of the British going to war against Russia. The entirety of the UK would be instantly wiped out, yet the UK PM issues ultimatums to Russia: https://www.rt.com/uk/421078-may-skripal-russia-parliament/

Here is what Finian Cunningham has to say about the British prime minister threatening Russia: https://sputniknews.com/columnists/201803081062350153-who-gains-from-poisonins-russian-ex-spy-uk/

The entire Western world is insane. As Michel Chossudovsky says, the Western politicians and presstitutes who serve them are driving the world to extinction. https://www.globalresearch.ca/fake-news-and-world-war-iii/5631417

Note: It appears that the military/security complex is closing its grip on the Trump regime. Secretary of State Tillerson has been fired and is being replaced by CIA Director Pompeo. Gina Haspel, the new CIA Director, is the person who oversaw the CIA’s secret torture prisons in Thailand.

PCR has it nailed 100%.

Just one teeny edit: “The entire Western world is insane.”

The LEADERS OF THE entire Western world ARE insane.

The leaders of the Western world are put in place by the people of the Western world.

Do the sane vote for the insane to lead them, or are they insane as well for doing it?

Interesting theory, but diverges from the facts. The media, deep state, billionaire donors, courts, and vote fraudsters decide who the leaders are, and before that who the candidates will be….

But it is the voters that do the actual voting that elects them, no avoiding the responsibility for it there.

And the don’t have to vote for the candidate the “media, deep state, billionaire donors, courts, and vote fraudsters” want in as the election of Trump, whom they didn’t even want to be a minor candidate, so dramatically demonstrates.

Read two articles yesterday:

The US has moved HUGE numbers of air assets to Jordan and also with Carriers.

Russia has moved their personnel to all the significant points around Damascus and informed the US of retaliation if any Russian personnel are hit.
Russia is moving ships (with missiles) to the area off Syria.

I realize there are a few people at TBP that consider US/Russia military war not a reasonable happening. I held that same position until yesterday.

Things are moving, and fast.

So hopefully we’ll find out if those carriers are obsolete or not soon, if they are we can quit spending our money on them.

Russia also has massive standoff capability, and will send our carriers to the bottom immediately if things blow up…

They only have one it it is probably moored somewhere. They don’t need it for Syria as they have access to all of the Syrian Air Force facilities.

That access is likely to disappear immediately if actual war breaks out.

Enemy airfields are always some of the prime first targets, and their anti aircraft systems are going to be largely concentrated there so they get taken out with them.

I think Russia is going to kick our ass. I am just sorry for the thousands of servicemen who are about to become casualties. I hope to God that Israel doesn’t come out of this unscathed because it is almost entirely their fault.

At this time I think it can be contained (not go nuclear) unless Washington does something really stupid.

I had almost forgotten about the pence coup but the neo cons are now in total control. After the pence visit to Israel, where I do believe the groveling on his knees was non-stop, he must have gotten his marching orders from el zionist supremo.

Now we have the pomp, torture princess, kudlow , maybe bolton, on and on.

We are truly and completely fucked!

Israel has never been exempt from attack, and has been the subject of many almost continuous attacks of varying size since they were created as a nation again in 1948.

There’s not going to be a war. Not with Russia and certainly not nuclear.

I found it odd that in the same article he cites Tillerson as one of the malefactors in this conspiracy against Russia and then in his update sees his firing as proof of their (hawks) consolidation of power.

It can be one or the other but it cannot be both.

I hope you’re right but I don’t see any way out at this point. Russia is obviously committed to defending the Syrian government and keeping the country intact. The US is apparently committed to the opposite on both counts. Certainly Israel prefers ISIS to Assad and their key leaders have said so many times. How can this result in anything else but a military confrontation?

Someone smarter than me can pick this apart:

“For those getting nervous about Haspel being a “swamp creature”:

The deep state has both red and blue factions, and while the red faction (that of the Pentagon, FBI, Israel, etc.) is by no means friendly to the true Right – that is, the anti-interventionist/anti-imperialist Right – it is considerably less hostile to inland America than the blue faction (State, Media, NGOs).

Trump can’t just bring in random friends/allies of his to run the alphabet-soup agencies. Every time he does so (e.g. Pruitt, who is awesome) it burns massive amounts of capital with the red faction. The more important the agency, the more dangerous the decision – which is why he’s primarily been able to appoint loyalists to agencies that the red faction already hates (EPA, Education, etc.).

What I think has happened here is: Trump discovered some time ago that Tillerson had significant blue-faction sympathies and orchestrated the N.Korea business as a pretext to get rid of him. That’s why the legacy media – and Tillerson himself – were furious despite the progress on NK diplomacy being obviously a positive development. He used this pretext and the cover of an internal “shuffle” to install a more clearly red-aligned individual in his place.

Haspel seems to be cut from the same cloth. Not Tea Party, but red faction. She probably won’t do things much differently from Pompeo, and for all we know may still end up taking cues from Pompeo, just as DHS still seems to be taking cues from Kelly (have we heard anything from Nielsen or out of DHS since Kelly left?).

I don’t know if all of this is precisely good or bad; it is what it is. We haven’t truly had a red SoS since Powell; I consider Condi to be primarily blue. Red in State could mean more military intervention, but also less gay diplomacy and less support for the blue empire worldwide (especially the EU).

I’d caution restraint in reacting to this news. It’s merely a coup by one faction of the deep state over another faction of the deep state, and although it likely doesn’t benefit the alt-right in specific, it does benefit Republicans in general. If nothing else, it will win Trump additional support within the party, and that will definitely be a good thing going into and coming out of midterms.”

http://voxday.blogspot.com/2018/03/trump-to-secretary-of-state-youre-fired.html#c244286932919394145

I am just having a really hard time believing Trump wants to start WWIII with Russia. That doesn’t mean we couldn’t have a war by “accident” ala WWI assassination of some type.

Trump needs to distance his support of Israel. That would be hard because so many of his supporters are evangelical Christians who have been mislead by misinterpreting some OT bible verses that say you must support Israel or be cursed. That only applied to the middle east countries of the OT. This may include Pompeo based on what I read about his church affiliations.

It can be both:
Pelosi (2017): Rex Tillerson is “too cozy” with Putin, he’s a Russian puppet.
Pelosi (2018): Rex Tillerson was fired because he stood up to Russia.

Saying Trump is not an insider is just another version of “PLEASE DON’T THROW ME IN THAT BRIAR PATCH”.
I’m on record 2 years ago saying, who better to usher in martial law and grab guns than Trump and that a lot of well meaning people will help him thinking he is just going after libtards. The same goes for war on behalf of Israel. Melania doesn’t sleep in the white house bedroom because Donny and BIBI both snore.

US plans to remain in Syria ‘for a long time, if not forever’ – Lavrov (From RT)

Published time: 14 Mar, 2018 12:35

Some fficials in Washington are aiming to maintain a foothold in Syria for a long time, “if not forever,” using chemical weapons provocations to achieve this objective, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
There are no grounds “to doubt the willingness of some US officials to keep a foothold [in Syria] for a long time, if not forever, and contribute to the collapse of the Syrian Arab Republic,” Lavrov said at a news conference in Moscow on Wednesday.

“Various methods” are being used, including “information revealed via [Russia’s] Defense and Foreign Ministries, which says that other provocations involving chemical weapons are being prepared,” the foreign minister said, noting that one such “staging” might take place in Eastern Ghouta.

On March 5, Lavrov said Russia had evidence that the US involvement in Syria had nothing to do with combatting terrorism. Speaking during a visit to Namibia, the foreign minister asserted that Washington is willing to keep the Al-Nusra Front terrorist group as a “plan B” to change the leadership in Damascus, according to Interfax.

Some policymakers in the American capital, he said, are “harboring plans to disintegrate the Syrian state.”

In February, Lavrov told Euronews that “the US clearly has a strategy that, I think, consists of stationing its armed forces in Syria forever.”

The US pursues the same goal in Iraq and Afghanistan “despite all of its earlier promises.” The Americans are working “to cut a huge chunk of Syrian territory from the rest of the country” while setting up puppet local authorities in that area and “trying in every way to establish an autonomous entity under Kurdish authority,” Lavrov said.

US support for Kurdish militias operating in Syria contributed to damaging relations between Washington and Ankara. Turkey launched Operation Olive Branch earlier this year and entered Syria’s Kurdish enclave in Afrin with the stated goal to drive Kurdish “terrorists” and other militant groupings out of the area.

Speaking alongside Lavrov on Wednesday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Ankara backs Syria’s territorial integrity, although the operation is ongoing. “Our goal is not to seize or attempt to seize Syrian territory,” he said.
