I wonder which flag is more representative of the American Idea. In my mind, this is not a crazy question seeing all the things said about America on TBP. Pros and cons can certainly be argued over both of these flags.

I have a stars and bars,usually don’t fly it in window ect. due to arguments about what it stands for,but,when it was the image of outrage for few weeks a year or two back I took it off workshop wall and in the window it went for a few weeks.I love though flying the original blue bonnie,folks don’t even for most part know what it is/significance ect.!
I had tix for Skynard that were mismarked Boston Gardens(was Boston Garden),then,a plane went down,sigh…..,was 13 at the time.Same thing for Zep,had tix for Philly and then,well,you know the rest.My dad was also going to get me tix for Boston Zep shows but got me Philly just so I saw em,me dad was way cool that way and being a business bigwig had great connections.Still have tix in me stub collection of over easily 500 shows thru the decades,never could see the rebuilt Skynard,do have the original with flames Street Survivor LP that was stopped at a 100 after accident and re-released with different cover sleeve.

I was very lucky in growing up listeng to music friends older sisters/brothers played like Hendrix/Doors/Janis ect. and then early 70’s rock,me baby sitters took me to my first show in 1975,Tull!I through the years then especially 70’s was lucky to see many shows(I mean many!)due to me dad always getting me great seats and seats for friends who came from less prosperous backgrounds(Thanks dad,RIP!).
I despite in many ways having a great childhood also had a lot of horrors,music was what got me through in may ways,like the Foghat song says:
“When I was stone blue,
Rock and roll sure got me through!”
Music in some ways therapy for me including for awhile being in bands ect.
I love that many bands cover Skynard(Cheap Tricks live version of Gimme Back My Bullets strangely enough a killer!).
Long story even longer,would just not get what I was looking for seeing em,glad many others do enjoy the show and the music of Skynard will always crank thru me Klipsch speakers!

I di get to see them at “Airport Jam” in 1977,was a four band show,you had the band Sweet open/then,Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio/then Atlanta Rhythm Section,and for the close of the show Foghat!

I’ve always been kind of down on the Confederate Battle Flag, because it’s been turned into a commodity. Idiots fly it for a million reasons and none of them even know what it is. It’s mainstream stupid. The guys who fly it as a sign of “rebellion” are just as stupid as the guys who get triggered by it because it’s racist. I’ve always been offended that so many people are so ignorant, they don’t even know what the flag is. Most of you guys seem to know it’s the battle standard, not the Confederate Flag, but the vast majority have no clue and never will. “It’s dat racist nazi flag!” I’ve seen guys wearing it/flying it in Europe and it seems so absurd. I guess when they see our idiots wearing nazi shit it’s the same kind of stupid. I love the South, but if you’re a real Southron Patriot, I think you ought to be flying the Stars and Bars. The Bonnie Blue is good, too, but I like the longer tradition reflected in the Stars and Bars. I love how the idiots also don’t know what the hell these flags are. You can have them up and on display and they’re either going to think it’s a patriotic RevWar flag, or you’re a 1 star general or a commodore or something.
Also, I wish they restricted the American flag to actual flags. I hate to see American flag napkins, underwear, paper plates, etc. It might be festive at Walmart, but it’s sheer disrespect in my opinion. And those car flags are the absolute worst. After 11Sep01, when everyone pretended to be patriot for a few weeks, I saw those stupid cheap carflags everywhere. They decayed and tore to bits about as fast as duh masses stopped being patriotic. I saw all the little bits of torn-up flag in the gutters and roadsides and it made me mad.
