Do you all realize that if Americans simply sent each person in Venezuela ONE USD (that’s 100 pennies) each of them would immediately become wealthy and probably need a financial advisor.
My BIG QUESTION is where is the Catholic church to help feed these people they collected money from for hundreds of years?

The U.S. is accelerating the decline of financial/dollar hegemony with sanctions like this. The rest of the world is sooner or later going to have an alternative payments system that will not be subject to U.S. sanctions.

Same as when the Weimar went belly up and a single US nickel could pay off $5000 dollars in debt in their currency. Just talking about helping people in a bad spot. “U.S. persons” includes business entities. The effect of the sanctions is to prevent Venezuela from selling its oil or any other exports on the world market in exchange for U.S. dollars, which are all routed through the SWIFT system.
Too much honesty; is that the reason for the down votes? Libya pre-2011 had what you might call a socialist system. But they also had an independent leader that didn’t kowtow to the U.S./Europe’s every whim. Hillary Clinton got a raging clit boner when Qaddafi was murdered by NATO. But yeah, OK, I guess NATO attacked Libya because it was socialist.
