Dallas Cop Kills Neighbor After Going Into His Apartment Thinking it Was Her Own
In a very case that still seems to have a lot of open questions, a Dallas police officer will be facing manslaughter charges after she shot and killed a 26-year-old man in his own apartment. The officer, who has not been identified, thought she had gone into her own apartment when she had actually gone into her neighbor’s home and apparently thought he was an intruder.
The strange series of events unfolded Thursday night, when the white patrol officer went into her apartment building after working a full shift. The officer, who was still wearing her police uniform, for some reason tried to go into her neighbor’s apartment rather than her own. That’s when she saw her neighbor, 26-year-old Botham Shem Jean, and shot him. “This is a very unique situation,” Police Chief U. Renee Hall said at a news conference Friday afternoon. “We have ceased handling it under our normal officer-involved shooting protocol.” Police are obtaining a warrant to charge the officer, who was been tested for alcohol and drugs. The Texas Rangers will be conducting an independent investigation of the incident.
Jean, a native of Saint Lucia, was a graduate of Harding University in Arkansas and was an employee at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dallas. He was known as a worship leader at the university, where officials mourned his death at chapel services Friday. “The entire Harding family grieves today for the loss of Botham Jean, who has meant so very much to us. Please join us in praying for Botham’s friends and family,” the university said in a statement. “This is a terrible tragedy,” a PricewaterhouseCoopers spokeswoman said in an email. “We are simply heartbroken to hear of his death.”
The victim’s mother, Allison Jean, talked to NBC News and wondered whether race had played a role in the officer’s apparent decision to pull the trigger. “I didn’t know she was white until now. If it was a white man would it have been different? Would she had reacted differently?” Jean said. “I don’t want to judge her. We are Christians. We forgive. But I need to look into her eyes and ask her why did she do that to my son.”
There appears to be something missing from this story. How did the officer get into the wrong apartment? Did she have keys?
Maybe he hadn’t locked the door. It happens.

One explanation is that the officer was asleep. Not the type of sleep like when one is sleeping in their bed but rather when one is awake but not paying attention to their surroundings. Perhaps her mind was lost in thoughts of the day or shut down in tiredness. When in this condition one reacts to shocks with automatic reactions.
Unfortunately many in our society are becoming automatons. With her training as a police officer and carrying a gun this reaction of automatic response would not be uncommon. Mindfulness in her consciousness was not there due to this sleep.

It is not for me to decide. It is for a jury to decide.
Administrative courts would not serve real justice in this case for sure. Why? Because administrative law does not recognize persons; it only sees straw men. Reconciling; if it comes, would come via third party with money. Tax payer money.
The outcome of this should be by a common law court for obvious reasons. Good luck with that. This country no longer has common law courts.
Food for thought: What would have happened if the situation was reversed and the man shot the cop coming though the door without a warrant or even without knocking like this cop did?
What if the cop was black and guy that was killed was white? Would we even hear the story?

She won’t do a day in prison. If anything, she “might” get probation. The prosecutor and rubber-stamp grand jury will “no bill” it and it will go away with time. Almost every unjustified shooting by police is handled this way. Strong police unions, exemptions from demanding immediate statements with a union attorney present, as well as a compliant police-friendly prosecutor will see to that…

you guys are way too quick to jump to judgment. The officer’s name is Amber Guyger, and according to Dallas Police, she hasn’t shot anybody since at least May of last year. While not on the right floor, she was at least in the same building as her apartment, her key did not work, she spent some time trying to get the door open and when the guy inside opened it up to see what the commotion was, that’s when she shot him. And then she cried for 10 minutes, so she was really sorry

The direct consequence of reducing the IQ Qualifications of Police Officers below 120 so that enough Blacks could qualify to match the community ratio. Either you have intelligent officers and few mistakes or you have Affirmative Action Quota dumbed down officers and stupid shit like this.
