FAIRNESS DOCTRINE

Guest Post by WestcoastDeplorable

I’ve been in the Internet industry since 2000 as a senior VP and owner. Before that I founded, operated, and sold one of the first multimedia companies in the U.S.

In my opinion, besides the negative effect on holding fair elections due to the reach and heavy bias, these media monopolies are crushing the economy, because lack of competition reduces the number of employees required to achieve the same results.

Plus Google admits to 10,000 H1-B employees. That number should be reduced to zero, and the company not only required to spin off their subsidiaries (i.e. You Tube), but to also divide or zone the search engine part of the business. They should be required to divulge their algorithms to a select committee of independent tech experts to ensure something like this never happens again.

Ditto with the other “platforms” and Apple since they corner the I-product market.

I’m against government regulation and believe a good dose is necessary in this case.

We need to find a way to ensure the U.S. media is neutral and not biased to either side of any issue. Perhaps it’s time to re-examine a “Fairness Doctrine for the 21st Century”. I think it’s high time.

The problem with a ‘Fairness Doctrine’ is who decides what is fair.

The old Fairness Doctrine would not help in this situation because it only applied to broadcast media. The doctrine was based on the philosophy that the airwaves were public and FCC licensees were public trustees. It was an FCC regulation, not a law passed by Congress. To draft a law or regulation that applied to broadcast, cable, print, and internet media would be quite a daunting task. Also note the distinction between the Fairness Doctrine and the Equal Time Rule. And bear in mind any such policy would apply to TBP, talk-radio, and Fox News.

“I’m against government regulation and believe a good dose is necessary in this case.”

Governmental interference never never NEVER truly solves anything. In fact, in almost every case, it makes things worse! Don’t be tempted by a gooberment “solution”!!

There IS such a SIMPLE solution. Stop using google!!!! There are many alternatives to google. If the masses simply stopped using google … google would be destroyed. Simple as that.

We could also destroy Nike — and every other corporate behemoth the same way. They All need YOU to buy their shit! But, Nike’s sales are up 30% since they featured that half-nig, Kaperdick. They recently issued a statement that are reaching their “core constituents” …. which is not “white Americans in middle America” but, rather, urban kneegrows and Beaners. So, we’re helpless to effect change with so many millions of dumbfuks amongst us.

Indeed. Truly. No exaggeration. The American publik is, for the most part, a bunch of goddamned fucking morans. Nothing will change. So, we deserve what’s coming to us …. no, not YOU and me, but collectively we do.

“You have a lusting sin problem not Gene problem. ”

Below is a pic of Gene Tierney, one of the sexiest movie stars from the 50’s. I’ve been looking at her pics and choking the chicken since I was a kid. So, Mr. Judgemental …. it IS a Gene problem!

You said,

I’d like to think you are right that all we have to do is stop using Google for things to change but unfortunately in this in the United Corporate States of Amurika this would seem almost impossible as it stands currently.

Here in California and I’m sure coming soon to a town near you, if not already, is the 1:World bullshit that Google has peddled to the local school districts. The Federal Gov’t has created technology initiatives and through grants for school districts has begun “modernizing” education for the 21st century corporate citizens….
The 1:World initiative with collaboration from the Fed grants and local school districts implementation have opened up a HUUUUGE market for Google to exploit with its data mining.

School districts, by going green, purchase chromebooks for their student populations and have installed Wi-Fi throughout their campuses. Everything is done through Google drives and Google’s cloud services now in the schools I work in.

They have conditioned a whole generation of new corporate consumers within the public education system all the while Google is feasting at the Gov’t trough and us taxpayers are footed the bill….
Google and the Federal Gov’t have provided an endless demand for Google’s products and services.

Thank your corporate overlords! Be a good lil’ peon and use the cloud.

Public education is much worse than Google. Have we stopped using that? No, we need a national law banning viewpoint or political discrimination.

Enforce public utility statutes on google, facebook and twitter, just like what is done for the telephone companies. Imagine if telephone companies could censor you based on your speech. That is exactly what google, facebook, and twitter are doing.
Antitrust and anti-monopoly laws already on the books could do the same thing.

anarchyst- You are right to a degree. The telephone companies provide you with the ABILITY to communicate . Farcebook and twitter are volunteer forums no different than posting here on TBP. If you don’t like the format on FB and Twitter, don’t play.

Google is another story, I don’t recall them ever censoring anything said here on TBP and Stucky alone would have had this place shut down years ago, heh heh. That goes for a slew of other irreverent sites like this one who call a spade a spade (cough). So, I think a great deal of the chest pounding is just theater so far.

We need a common carrier doctrine…which I think we already have, but don’t apply.

We already pay for NPR & PBS but it’s Taxation Without Representation (of Conservatives). We also pay a lot of the Social Media via the NSA, CIA, FBI, Home Land Security, etc, to spy on us and propagandize us. Trump should issue an Executive Order requiring those media be unbiased and liable to be sued for bias.

When do you think Trump will do that Robert? Why are taxpayers funding any radio programs? Do we really need public broadcast?
