“Liberty and democracy are eternal enemies, and every one knows it who has ever given any sober reflection to the matter.”
H. L. Mencken
“The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule.”
H. L. Mencken
“The only time you have a free press is when you own one.”
H. L. Mencken
“The kind of man who demands that government enforce his ideas is always the kind whose ideas are idiotic.”
H. L. Mencken
“…Government is a broker in pillage, and every election is a sort of advance auction in stolen goods…” — H.L. Mencken
“…No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the average American…” — H.L. Mencken
The indispensable Mencken. The devotion to democrazy is a tribute to the herd instincts of humans that politicians thrive on like a tape worm and in the same manner. It takes a moment of critical thinking to truly understand rule by an elite of narcissists who’s sole grip on power comes from conning a minority of the public is immoral and contrary to individual liberty. For the life of me I can’t understand how people on TBP bow to this false idol.
But there is hope.
“Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself.” Adams
And considering the spectacle we saw in the senate this week I’d say we’re just about there.
It takes more than a movement to be rid of a tapeworm.
How are you doing, Grog?
Nice quote, is that original?
