Boston Dynamics Terrifying Humanoid Robot Can Do Parkour Now

Via ZeroHedge

Boston Dynamics’ “nightmare inducing” robots are seemingly becoming more human-like with each passing month. Whereas just a few years ago, the company’s “Atlas” robot could barely manage walking on uneven ground, the terrifying humanoid android can effortlessly run and leap over obstacles – or on to platforms and boxes. This latest upgrade follows an update from last year where BD demonstrated Atlas’ newfound ability to perform standing backflips with ease. Can you do that? We thought not…

In one recently uploaded demo, Atlas does parkour – bounding over obstacles, running across platforms and picking up boxes.

In other words, if you were looking for more evidence that the long-prophesied robot uprising is drawing closer with each passing day – well, here it is.

Yup. And just how are manufacturing jobs coming back when robots are able to do stuff like this? Plus, they never call in hung over.

It’s easy – learn how to build, program and repair robots!

I am thinking more along the lines of citizen control, emp and armor piercing projectiles coming to mind, could see a lot of good in theory though these little dudes could do say in S&R/fire rescue/ect.,again tech that is a double edged sword.

My cousin is married to an Engineer that works there. They just added another child to their steadily growing family. I wonder why when this is the future…

They said the same thing about evry major tech advance. With an attitude like that, we would never have advanced past the stone age. Luddites have always been wrong.

LLPOH,

Serious question: are you amoral?

a·mor·al

adjective
lacking a moral sense; unconcerned with the rightness or wrongness of something.

Just because LLPOH is realistic and does not automatically side with privileged workers in America; because he considers that Americans are overpaid due to the reserve status of the dollar and sheds few tears when Americans face competition from foreign wage slaves of automation, does not mean that Mr. Integrity is amoral. A psychopath or killer xenomorph may be called amoral but LLPOH who insists on honesty in all matters is hardly one you could call amoral.

Amoral:

It was a question and not an accusation. Honesty doesn’t mean 100% morality.

Look at James comment above.

Just like genetic engineering and AI, it is here and not going to go away. The genie is out of the bottle.

Note that Boston Dynamics is now owned by SoftBank of Japan, maker of the “Pepper” interactive robot which is not quite as intimidating.
