WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), chairman of the Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management (FSO) Subcommittee for the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC), released his 2018 Festivus edition of The Waste Report, an ongoing project cataloguing egregious examples of waste within the U.S. government.
Dr. Paul’s Festivus Waste Report, now in its fourth year, shines a spotlight on some of the wasteful spending and misplaced priorities that have helped the federal government place taxpayers on the hook for a debt that is rapidly closing in on $22 trillion.
Highlights include: providing over $76 million in stipends to soldiers in the Somali National Army, devoting over $650,000 to develop a drama series to air in Afghanistan, spending up to $1 million on helping support and develop the legislative process in Libya, and setting aside $18 million to support tourism in Egypt.
You can find Dr. Paul’s 2018 Festivus edition of The Waste Report, which totals up over $114 million in waste, below:

And people wonder why hard working taxpayers get frustrated with the BS that happens in DC. Shameful, just shameful. John
Wow … we spent $75, 691 on “Blew leaf blowers at lizards (NIH)”
Jezuz! I had my lizard blown for just ten bucks.
Stukmeister, you coulda spent an extra $5 for a woman?
Sadly, Rand is wasting his time. Exposing this staggering level of waste does nothing to stop it. Nothing can stop it. Sad but true. The crooks are in charge.
$115 Million, just a drop in the bucket [less than $1.00 per taxpayer] compared to the many trillions wasted on defense, non-productive government, and welfare programs.
So who gets placed before a tribunal Nuremberg Style and held to account for what is probably not even a dick trickle of what is really wasted overall ?
Not a god dam soul in DC no one !
Of course some of the most useless gatherings of human excrement buzzing about the daily fleecing of American citizens now expect to be paid regardless of the financial circumstances they all had a hand in creating for this crumbling nation
$ 371 Billion just in interest payments on our national debt, when we could have the Treasury print interest free money. And $50Billion is too much for a wall? I need a drink…..
