QUOTES OF THE DAY

“One of the bittersweet things about growing old is realizing how mistaken you were when you were young. As a young political leftist, I saw the left as the voice of the common man. Nothing could be further from the truth.”

Thomas Sowell

“Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it.”

Thomas Sowell

“Advocates of diversity in a race or gender sense are often quite hostile to ideological diversity, when it includes traditional or ‘conservative’ values and beliefs.”

Thomas Sowell

“If you want to see the poor remain poor, generation after generation, just keep the standards low in their schools and make excuses for their academic shortcomings and personal misbehavior. But please don’t congratulate yourself on your compassion.”

Thomas Sowell

I admire Mr. Sowell, his values and his way with words, and his aphorism about intellectuals is catchy, but googly-eyed Ocasio is the only example one needs to disprove the idea that only intellectuals can ignore socialism’s failures. I don’t think Maduro is exactly an Einstein either. Add in almost any Democrat nowadays.

Bob, you are right on. Socialism or socialist is merely a synonym for thief and con man.
