At this point, there are a few outcomes worth considering:
Trump invades Mexico to avert a “humanitarian crisis”
Trump folds on the wall and focuses on Syria
Trump accepts partial funding for the wall
Trump resigns and goes back to the WWE
Trump is impeached
We can drop the last option because Pelosi won’t want to burn her impeachment option but will hold off, using it as a bargaining chip.
Trump could accept partial funding through a backdoor deal to re-open the government by Pence and Congress, thus avoiding a Coulter tongue-lashing.
Trump could also put the wall on the back-burner before the SOTU as a manufactured crisis in Syria demands his attention, this is a plausible scenario since the Turks guaranteeing the Kurds’ safety is about as workable as putting the fox in charge of the henhouse.
Trump could go ahead and press the issue of the border wall, going so far as to invade Mexico to rescue migrants or force them back from the border in a series of skirmishes designed to paint them as terrorists.
Finally, although this is not the least imaginable option, Trump could resign like Nixon with a non-prosecution deal in his vest pocket or throw in the towel like Johnson, instantly becoming a lame duck, saying he will not seek nor accept his party’s nomination. The last option would make his de-facto lame duck status official as traitors like Ann Coulter and others have sabotaged him ingloriously.
There can be no good outcome as long as Trump keeps listening to unappointed advisers like Coulter and Limbaugh. These idiots are nothing but partisan cheerleaders. Trump should listen to strategic minded coaches. Even the base would do well to shut the fuck up and let him govern as he sees fit rather than trying to second-guess his every damn move. Nobody likes a backseat driver. That’s the drawback to being permanently wired; the instantaneous feedback is cluttered with noise.
