Tulsi Gabbard and the Smear Campaign

Tulsi Gabbard has become a lightning rod for all that is wrong with American politics. I wrote an article for Strategic Culture recently that outlines the moral bankruptcy of the Democrats and our media.

Gabbard is the next generation of US politician but I fear she is too little, too take. Much like Rand Paul in the GOP. She understands, as a veteran of our foreign adventurism, that the game of geopolitics is built on fundamentally flawed premises. And that the best way to win that game is not to play.
And for this she has been the target of the worst kind of smear campaign, one that was internally generated by a US funded, DNC-enabled, opposition firm. No longer is it enough to bomb or gas people overseas in false flag operations to keep the electorate braying for war.
Now it’s come to the land of mundane political campaigns.
That’s how desperate the Democrats are to regain the White House in 2020.

Then last night the story broke that David Duke, of all people, came out and endorsed Gabbard for President. Now why on earth would Mr. White Supremacist himself come out in favor of a standard liberal non-white woman who happens to be against killing brown people the world over?

You know what I think. Duke is part of the controlled opposition which exists to create a false antipode to our liberal aesthetic. Do I have proof? No. But the guy was convicted of more federal crimes than Capone and did less than a year in jail.

Can you say plea deal, David? I can.

He, Richard Spenser and the rest of the alt-right Nazis, all 12 of them, exist to be trotted out and remind everyone of who they don’t want to be associated with.

So to smear Gabbard we trot out Mr. Moldy Whitey to create a false association not only between the two people but Gabbard’s defining trait which makes her interesting as a candidate, her anti-war stance.

So if you’re antiwar you’re not only giving aid and comfort to *gasp* Putin but you’re also a fellow traveler with David Duke.

So, Gabbard has met her “Nuts and Sluts” moment. They can’t get her on being a racist or sleeping her way to the top. She’s pretty clean and a veteran so the only thing left is to tie White Supremacist to her.

To remind you:

“Nuts and Sluts” is easy to understand.  Simply accuse the person you want to destroy of being either crazy (the definition of which shifts with whatever is the political trigger issue of the day) or a sexual deviant.
This technique works because it triggers most people’s Disgust Circuit, a term created by Mark Schaller as part of what he calls the Behavioral Immune System and popularized by Johnathan Haidt.
The disgust circuit is also easy to understand.
It is the limit at which behavior in others triggers our gut-level outrage and we recoil with disgust.
The reason “Nuts and Sluts” works so well on conservative candidates and voters is because, on average, conservatives have a much stronger disgust circuit than liberals and/or libertarians.
This is why it always seems to be that anyone who threatens the global order or the political system always turns out to have some horrible sexual deviance in their closet.

Anything to stop her brand of rationality on foreign policy getting a fair shake in the media narrative. They know what happens when someone like her gets up on stage with a bunch of war-mongers. Voters cheer.

Because the last thing anyone wants in this country as Donald Trump goes full neocon and reneges on his central campaign promises is for a center-right/center-left coalition form around opposition to the overseas Empire.

This is what happened in Italy and it’s got the EU in a real bind. It was part of the 2016 dynamic where Bernie Sanders used it to separate himself from Hillary and Trump from the rest of the GOP. Because globalism and endless war isn’t popular. Gabbard knows this and it seems she’s sincere about her stance on Syria and how badly our military has been misused.

But, that’s not a conversation we’re allowed to have. So after the NBC Russian troll farm smear failed, 48 hours hours later we’re dealing with the Spectre of Skokie.

If it wasn’t so pathetic I think I would actually laugh.
