Stucky QOTD: Your family, friends, and Trump

I’m kinda bummed out due to two weird events that happened in the past week.

—1)  One of mom’s friends from the German Singing Club came to visit mom last week.  There are both 89 years old.  They talked about the ‘old days’. That topic ran out of gas in about 5 minutes.  Then they talked politics … specifically, Trump.  Mom’s friend suffers greatly from Trump Derangement Syndrome.  Mom is not a Trumpeteer, but she generally thinks he’s doing the good job.  Bottom line:  the lady went fucken ballistic and stormed out of the house. On her way out she told mom it might not even be possible to stay friends anymore.

—2) Also in the past week I got into a spat with my libtard seester.  She told me “get the fuck out of my house!“.

Man, oh man, shit is fucked out up and shit.

Q:  Has being a Trump supporter caused strife in the circles you inhabit? (If “yes”, please give details.  If “no”, please try harder.)

Basically, I’m looking for stories whereby people are just as bad off as me or, preferably, even worse.  Your misery may just brighten up my dark mood! Well, … at least I’m not married to the bitch below.

We all tolerated Obama without being assholes……they should be able to accomplish the same…….if not, to heck with them regardless of the relationship. If they can’t, then you are better off without them.

I hope that I can give a good perspective. I’m 70, been working since I’ve been 15 – started to sweeping floors at a engineering wholesaler. By the time I was 17, I worked at the ‘counter’ – researching and answering questions. Short time later – college.

Jim, I don’t know all the answers, but I’ve experienced a lot of situations.

Good luck, to you Jim.

My brother doesn’t speak with me; he has TDS in a big way. Almost violent. I’m way to the right of Trump; like John Birch right. My brother says I’m a racist and a Nazi. He’s half right. I am a racist without a doubt. He doesn’t grasp that there’s no “hate” in me. That if push comes to shove it’s strictly business. These people aren’t rational. There’s no reasoning with them. That kind of limits one’s options.

You hit the nail on the head

No way anyone can reason with those stricken by TDS.

Those afflicted cannot even see that facts don’t matter to them anymore, only a mutually-validating social pact of hatred for Trump that reinforces their tyrannized victim status. There’s no safe ground; there’s no neutral. If you don’t hate Trump, you are for Trump. If you don’t denounce Trump, well “Fuck you!”

The most amazing woman I’ve ever known, the founder and Executive Director for Village Volunteers, was the love of my life for 20 years until stricken with TDS.

On a July, 2017 morning, I left our bed, drew her a hot tub while making coffee and roused her to start our day. I perched on the closed toilet with my coffee to share our morning thoughts.

She drowsily soaked for a few moments, sipped her coffee and began angrily denouncing Trump for withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord, accusing him of putting the entire world in jeopardy.

I tried to “reason” with her.

“Shana, the shipping industries pollute far more than all cars in the world and shipping pollution is dwarfed by military pollution. The two greatest polluters on the planet were given a free pass by the Paris Climate Accords, they put no limits on either…”

An angry scowl covered her face and she pointed toward the door, “Get OUT!!”

I’ve never been back.

No, she’s always composed, with a quiet dignity; not the begging sort.

She always made it clear that I was never promised forever. It never worried me; I knew that someday I would be. Being an old, bald white guy with a southern accent, many missing teeth and a pickup truck, I knew it was only a matter of time. As soon as I open my mouth in Seattle, people look at me like I’m a slave-owner. I live in the mountains hours away from Seattle now.

Topping Seattle’s NOT ARM CANDY list meant she generally avoided public appearance with me, and then finally shunned me. She is IMO, still a very good person, just deranged. I ended contact last summer with this email:

Wishing

From the start, I knew that she would burn me.
I gave everything to stand in her fire.
Transfixed, sizzling, for everyone to see,
a foolish man, consumed by his desire.

None could have ever refused her. She glowed.
For twenty years, by my nose I was towed,
and to anyone who listened I crowed,
“This prospector has found the Motherlode!”

I’m not the first miner to bend his pick
or to dig a hole that left his heart sick,
alone in the dark, out of candle-wick,
wishing he’d stayed home, playing with his dick.

But those glorious curls around her face
caught me. I disappeared without a trace.

Brother you have a serious bad self image problem. I think you’re worth the effort so I’m going to disclose some of myself. I graduated HS in ’68. Jock, not hard to look at, self confident, had the world by the balls. Enlisted in the Corps. Long military history in my tribe. GG granddaddy a confederate officer, my old man 82nd Airborne, WWII. Anyway, I get back from ‘Nam in ’70 and I’m shaking like a leaf in a high wind. And you know what? It never went away. Still tremble today. The VA doc told me it was a psych thing. He was probably right. So here I am almost half a century later and when strangers look at me they think “hell, this guy’s a weenie”. Point being ‘bro, I’ve lived with it. And I never backed up. As I write this I have a wife, 69 years old that STILL looks like the Las Vegas showgirl she was when I married her. Pick yourself up brother. Wipe yourself off. And go out there and find HER.

I’ve not been pining over my loss of Shana’s love.

My last two trips to Sayulita were with her daughter. We’ll be there again next October. It’s hilarious for me to watch the faces of strangers who ask Elana how we met. She smiles real big and says, He’s my mom’s old boyfriend!!!”

BTW, Old Shoe, anyone who spends time in a war zone has something wrong with them if they don’t have the shakes.

I had pretty bad shakes for quite a while after the first time a cop shot at me, following family tradition, just like you. I had two great-great uncles who rode with Quantrill. One was hung.

So I appreciate your effort to lift me up – you’ve been scraped across life’s blade and don’t whine about bleeding – a silent testament to a real contribution to society.

That “bent pick” poem was actually sent summer of ’17, not last summer.

This entire country is headed for border wars again, and it won’t be north vs south this time. It’ll be everybody for themselves.

My dad and his three brothers were all career military. They grew up on a 400-acre cotton farm in the hills of northern Alabama (Centre, Ala), in a small corner of a long-established cotton plantation. Maybe 15 years ago, Ancestry.com was running a special on PBS and I checked to see who (with my last name) fought for the Confederacy. The only soldiers who carried my name were black and they all fought for the north. Go figure.

My grandpa was the youngest son of a large family and he went hoboing in the 30’s depression. He was crippled by a train in Seattle. Prospects were poor for cripples back then, and my dad never told me his mother was ½ Cherokee until I was 16, because he was called half-breed while growing up.

We usually visited Grandpa’s farm when dad was transferred from one duty station to another. My grandparents didn’t have running water or electricity until I was 16. We would hunt and fish during the day and the adults would stay up drinking and telling stories long into the night.

As a child, I listened from my pallet next to the fireplace to the tales of our family being run out of Georgia during Sherman’s march to the sea. Some settled in Center (its name before it was “gentrified”) and some kept going to the “new territories” out in Kansas and Missouri.

Apparently, two brothers (great-great uncles) wound up riding with Quantrill’s Raiders and one was hung as a horse-thief. I couldn’t stay awake late enough to get all the details and didn’t really want to know about horse-thieving relatives when I was a lad.

But it isn’t hard to imagine it being exactly so today. We all seemed to have a genetic disposition toward banditry of one sort or another. My dad left home at 16 and became a bouncer in a brothel and bootlegged corn-liquor.

I left home at 16 and would up running the drug trade in a north Florida beach town until I stole two bales from Columbians who put a two-tier contract on my head; double to bring me back alive for torture.

I moved to the opposite corner of the country (Seattle) and never went back.

Never cry over a chick? Sounds like advice from Leghorn Foghorn.

Every man who has ever loved a woman has cried tears over/for her, but you’re right. It doesn’t change things.

I can’t say that primal screaming is a help either, but it’s not uncommon when the grieving process drops sorrow and picks up anger.

Leonard’s songs have made me cry for women I have loved long after I’ve forgotten what they looked like.

It’s not wallowing in self-pity, I’m just a sap with a tender heart.

And I’d wager even a hide as leathery as yours has been soft-soaked in tears over a woman.

You don’t have to wager, I have mentioned my ex-GF Mothra many times. I’m sure folks are sick of hearing about her. Here’s the thing, women are like cats, they have no memory of anything from one day to the next or even 2 minutes ago. You basically have a carbon-based sex-robot.

You know the story of Pygmalion? That’s what men do, they create a woman in their mind out of stone or whatever medium and give it a personality and heart they don’t really have.

Let’s see some pictures of this hyena, we’ll decide if you have been deluded by a two-legged hound dog. Often-times, the bitch is ugly (with alluring eyes) and has issues that she covers up by making men suffer so she can feel good about herself. I know this type of Jezebel very well.

Mi casa nueva
My new home
Los Invasores de Nuevo León
Te escribi una carta y no me contestaste
I wrote you a letter and you never answered
Fui a buscarte y ya cambiaste direccion
I went to look for you, you’re never home
Como tengo unas cosas que reclamarte
Since I have a few things to reproach you
Me obligaste a que te cante esta cancion
You forced me to sing this song to you
Deje mi casa por vivir feliz contigo
I left my home to be happy by your side
Y me pagaste como algunas pagan mal
You paid me back the way some fail to pay
Por tu culpa estoy viviendo donde ahora vivo
It’s your fault that I live where I’m residing
Y a esta vida no me puedo acostumbrar
And my new life I find it hard to get used to
A veces lloro muy cerca de las botellas
Sometimes I cry right next to the beer bottles
Especialmente cuando me acuerdo de ti
Especially when I remember thee
Si amanece no se miran las estrellas
After the dawn you can’t see the stars
Oscurece y nunca brillan para mi
After dark they don’t shine for me
Una radiola y dos amigas me acompa??an
A jukebox and two girlfriends keep me company
Mi casa nueva muy distinta a las demas
My new home is not like all the rest
Tiene un letrero de color en la vidriera
There a flashing sign in the front window
Y una cualquiera es la que ocupa tu lugar

Lives in Seattle. Runs a volunteer agency to help the Africans – which anyone with any sense whatsoever knows is impossible. Hates Trump.

Three things. 1) she was ALWAYS going to hate Trump. 2) she was always on the verge of total stark raving mad, and it was a matter of time before she blew her cork. 3) hitching a wagon to such as her is fraught with danger, and likely to end in tears.

1) You’re right.

2) Partially right. Not (crazy) mad, but she did blow her cork, which I agree was inevitable.

3) Wrong. There’s never a danger in loving too much, just in loving too long, and win or lose, love always winds up in tears. Every time. Wife, children, friends – the one we love hurt us the most.

In the remote villages of Africa and India where she built and staffed schools and medical clinics, there are dozens of girls in Africa and India named Shana.

There are many school teachers and medical doctors now serving in those places, whose education Shana funded through grants and donations while working for years without a salary.

It is a mistake to confuse/equate the minds of third-world children who are appreciative of opportunity and hungry for education – to the minorities in this country who grow up expecting handouts.

Blacks born in African villages aren’t anything like our ghetto geckos who lay about tongue-flicking their EBT cards.

Any species that developed the intelligence to look at the natural world and start to look for mathematical formulas using a base ten numeric system that explains it would naturally come upon the relationship of diameter to circumference in a perfect circle. All common sense would tell you it would be a perfectly rational number but instead it’s a number that just goes on forever endlessly, without ever repeating itself, without end.

If that doesn’t scream HELLO! I’m not sure what you’re looking for.

Ever read Carl Sagan’s “Contact?” Not the crap adaptation starring Jodie Foster, but the book itself?

Sagan’s heroine, unlike the movie version, is not given 18 hours of static to think about as in the movie. After the failed attempt to time travel or whatever we are led to believe may have occurred, she is sent back to her satellite to scan for signals and she sets up a computer to plot out the decimals in pi day and night. She finds a series of repeating decimals hidden millions of decimals points out that, when graphed, form a perfect circle in what is otherwise a random series of connected points on the graph, which seem to continue without break in the randomness.

It was a neat trick. Even Carl Sagan had to end with “but.”

(four ways to end a scene or a story: Yes and Yes, but, No, and No, but…) Simple Yes or simple No just ends it, while “but” teases you onward.

Sagan might have been a brilliant scientist and an affirmed atheist.

BUT.

Uh, my uncle was mostly there when they tested the bombs at White Sands and where ever else they practiced with them. Then about 1988, he got real sick and went to his doctor. He had a real aggressive liver cancer. His doc sent him on to specialists in cancer. They tested him, and diagnosed him with terminal cancer. He died within 2 months after seeing that first doctor. He told us that the specialist asked him this question: “Were you around any atomic bomb testing?” After he affirmed their question, the specialist told him that cancers like his were closely monitored and that only 12 other people alive at that time in the whole country had his kind of cancer, and it was due to nuclear radiation.

Our kids, my kids, are under immense biological and cultural pressure to be democrats (you know, a 20 year old that isn’t a liberal has no heart and a 50 year old that isn’t conservative has no brain) … they know that won’t fly here even though I consider my self “Liberal” as in “Liberal Western Values” – The Enlightenment, etc. The media pressure to define “Democrat as Liberal” and “Conservative as Nazi” is relentless. It has caused significant stress in our communication – but it is mainly they who experience the dissonance.

These TDS acolytes are in a continuous vacuum. They are multitude and the sources of entertainment they observe bombards them with anti-Trump propaganda ALL DAY.
If they are People magazine types, the View, Oprah, Ellen etc etc–they get non-stop Trump hate. If they are late-night TV, MSNBC, CNN “news” shows or the plethora of round-table show watching dullards then they get even more Trump-hate.
The 5 minute newsbreaks on your favorite rock station, oldies station etc are always brought to you by “NBC news affiliate” or “CBS up-to-the-minute news” and are always skewed and worded for Trump derangement fixes.
The “experts”–aka do-nothing college leftists, slant every expert opinion with their personal Trump-hate.
Every news mag, newspaper or pulp headline spews Trump-hate continuously/daily.
Throw in the NPR acolytes, the captives in Marxist camps at universities and these small-brained people without self-deduction skills are left so programmed that they are literally, real life NPC’s.

There is no reasoning or amount of facts you can state that will change them. Their thinking as taken on a cultish mindset. Complete and unfailing belief in what they have been programmed to think…. it’s actually quite scary. ( also fascinating in a macabre sort of way)

It’s not about dying for Trump.. it’s about the attacks and hate directed at him is really just a conduit for the hate they have against people who believe similarly to what he ran on…
Close our borders against the invaders,…
Trannys and their ilk are psychotic and have no place in our schools or military…..
Men and women are different..
Funding Planned Parenthood with our tax dollars is a national disgrace…
Being white or male or Christian or traditional or a believer in the Constitution does not make one a deplorble, racist worthy of constant derision…
These are just some of the things that are pushing us to defend ourselves with force.
They hate us with a vitriol and blood lust….the big question is when do we begin to fight back for real? Currently we are playing their game and slowly losing more and more ground. We can’t save ourselves with voting or representative government it appears because once elected, they never actually back us… just slowing the onslaught at best and conceding or colluding at worst.

Yes we will most likely have to fight at some point… but not for Trump…it will be for what is right and wrong… freedom vs socialist slavery… goodness vs degeneracy.

I see reading comprehension is not your strong suit. Doesn’t matter if it is before, during or after Trump–the hate is directed at us– everyone who doesn’t agree with: their rising oceans, identity politics, “men are evil” “white men are satan’s spawn”, blacks, latinos, muslims, women ( essentially anyone not white and male) is a victim, we can choose our gender, Karl Marx is genius, everyone deserves someone else’s chit, guns are for police/military only, free speech is limited by what some snowflake is offended by, govt has the right to observe, record and violate your person for “safety”……..we are the hated.

They are trampling the First Amendment and Bill of Rights, The 2nd Amend is under constant “revision”..the Fourth amendment essentially no longer exists…on and on…you aren’t a Trump fan, neither am I although I ALWAYS stand up and say I voted for him because Hillary is an evil, corrupt, deep state murderess… but the CW won’t be about Trump. Most likely it comes after 2020 when Dems control everything and start rounding up the dissidents ( they know who we are)…
I’ve said it before, this is our “Nineveh moment”– our brief reprieve to get our house in order before it gets REAL ugly. We ain’t seen the depth of their hate yet……… but we will.

Trump was holding up the rainbow banner a week or two ago and vowed to further the cause of gays WORLDWIDE. I took that to mean trannies also.

By not stopping the free housing, free healthcare, free education, free snap card/food to the FSA flooding our border, Trump has done little or nothing but showboat for two solid years.Stop the free shit and they won’t be flooding the border.

I’m still a supporter of the Constitution , I don’t feel threatened….why do you? I don’t remember Trump being too concerned about that document when getting us into Israeli dictated conflicts around the world.

Has being a Trump supporter caused strife in the circles you inhabit?

Well, let me put it this way, Stuck. In my abode, if the TV channels are not changed promptly before the faces of any daytime or late night talk show host, or SNL cold-open actor(s), appear on screen, I will politely exit the room.

The other night my presence was requested to watch the Oscars and I politely said: “Hell no”, before watching the FYRE documentary that Admin recently covered in his “Winter of Discontent” piece.

In watching the FYRE festival fiasco, I found myself wondering why they didn’t just rent a luxury cruise ship docked offshore of the “private island”. Instant infrastructure. Problem solved.

But I digress…

When anyone in my immediate surroundings, or via electronic communication, get’s “smart” I will quickly overwhelm them with shock and awe facts and persuasive argumentation honed by the fires of countless online shitfests past with people more awake than they. Truly, it’s like taking toddlers to a midnight showing of “Human Centipede”.

Now, when I enter the room of any public area, I hear their whispers subside as they retreat into the shadows with downcast eyes; leaving me to my peace.

It makes for a solitary existence, but I don’t mind. For all of my real friends are online, anyway.

My interest in a Trump discussion would be delving deeper into the question of a deep state or (((deep state))) as Yokes would frame it. Trumpy is merely the doorman in this whole scene.

We were invited to dinner at my son’s house. His GF is super quiet. Her mom is a motor mouth who talked non-stop for several hours the last time we had dinner with them. She grabbed a bar stool and perched herself above me. She asked a leading question about Trump and then immediately took his side to give me room to vent. I got up and went outside. She was perplexed and followed me. I ignored her. She chit-chatted a bit with my son who was at the grill. She’s not all bad, she has the typical Salvy butt; big as a Buick. (Bea, my wife got her momma’s tiny ass, it looks like white booty.) Her daughters inherited that primo asset but thankfully not the motor mouth.

It did not take Trump for me to achieve a reasonable degree of isolation.

For instance, I read HSF’s recent essay on TV and, despite his excellent prose, could not connect with it or the comments. I think that I probably saw a few episodes of Twilight Zone but not a minute of anything past that. So, I have been “culturally illiterate” for almost 5 decades now.

I have a tendency to piss people off on the whole question of “red” vs “blue”: “They’re the same, dumbasses. The only difference is how they divide the spoils from your wallet.” But, but, but…

“And why would I trust any of these schmucks to run goobermint when they do a uniformly crappy job of running anything else?” Well, that’s kinda harsh, you know…

“No, I do NOT know. Been to the DMV lately? Tried to process SS or Medicare paperwork for the elderly – – ever? Helped out a vet with arranging treatment at the VA? No??? Then shut up, go out and learn.” Well, we have to have someone in control, don’t we?

“These shit-weasels are in control? How effing stoopid are you? The country is broke – – not just current account basis but also on the balance sheet though they get to hide the liabilities. It’s been this way for a loooong time…and you think they are in control? Increase your fish consumption, supposedly it’s brain food.” Well, there would be chaos with nobody in charge!!!

“Day-hum, you’re slow. Last century, the gubmints of multiple nations racked up total deaths north of 200 million. Yeah, I would take chaos over those kind of odds. And don’t tell me that USA never got involved in the mayhem because all that shows is your ignorance of history.”

If they persist after that, I ask them to go lie down in the corner and lick their nuts like a good dog. I’m either working or learning, got no time for that stuff.

So, Trump showing up…hardly a blip.

Zap, thanks for the reminder.

DP is smart, no question there. But, what is he telling us after all his rant is done? Not sure if he needs coaching in anger management or simply how to work within the system to get the maximum you are allowed.

I have successfully navigated SS, Medicare, and the DMV. Pain in the ass? Yes. Can it be done? Yes.

“Worked” and “Learned” all about SS and Medicare, well in advance of hitting the Golden Years button. How many have taken decades of earnings data, found the arcane formulae, and-just for grins-compared the calculated benefit with that the SSA says is due you? Yes, it can be done-but only if you are willing to learn how to do it. Their result vs mine? Within pennies. Along with the drudgery came a lot of learning (of the SSA rule set) and the satisfaction that I am being treated fairly.

To be frank (‘ya listening, Professer?) I was hoping for he/she to display some intellect and blow my mind away with his thoughts/ideas/facts.

The fear his enemies have and the hatred they spew and the ditching of the rule of law …. Oh yes, sorry, I do have problems talking to my Mom when the subject of Trump comes up. At some point we reach a point of hysteria and then quickly shift to the weather and end the conversation cordially. I do not try to instigate arguments, as she is in her 80’s and I think she enjoys the debate, but it always ends up with the frothing hatred I began describing at the beginning.

I only wish Trump lived up to his enemies attacks, as far as I can tell, he toys with his adversaries to such a point that long ago, his parents would have said just kill the thing, instead of torturing it for as long as you have. But he continues to fight fire with tweets for so long, I wonder when the democrats will realize they have him and drop all the hysteria.

But they don’t and their desperate attempts to remove him are the only thing I see that tells me he has something on them.

Anyway, the conversations with my Mom are getting creepy and I would think its some kind of dementia, except that the same lack of sanity also emanates from my TV when I catch the national news. Yes, but I live in eastern Canada so in my part of the country TDS seems to be the norm rather than the exception. Like firearms ownership, I don’t discuss Mr. Trump unless I know I’m among like minded or at least open minded individuals.

Our state owned media along with many other new outlets spend most of their time reporting on Mr. Trump and goings-on south of the border, rather than discussing the dumpster fire that is our current federal government under Trudeau’s Liberals. It is sad that many Canadians would rather engage in TDS and discuss American politics instead of worrying about what the government that runs their own country is doing.

I’m Canadian and live in Australia. If American politics becomes part of a conversation I usually announce that I think DJT is the greatest living human being. I remain in touch with the firm where I worked for twenty years on a Facebook group. Back in 2016 one of my former friends said “I thought you were a pretty smart guy, but if you barrack for Trump you’re an asshole”. He disowned me. I often wear a MAGA hat, and I maintain that the ‘climate change’ nonsense is identical to seventeenth century beliefs in witches, and werewolves. Those two things got me ejected from a men’s club in Australia. As in Canada, there are a couple of generations of Australians that were never taught reason and logic. Instead they operate on ignorance and ‘feelings’. My opinions on American politics strain my relationship with my son and daughter who live in Canada. It is a sign of the times that a person’s world view, as well as his opinion on affairs in a foreign country can affect personal relationships in two completely different countries.

Please permit me to reword:
“I am here to discuss American politics instead of worrying about what the government that runs Canada is doing.”
For 2 reasons:

1. America formed from principles under law. Justin’s daddy phrased a Constitution , couple hundred years after the US, to, as the Toronto cop Union President said, ‘allow the criminals a defense.’ I vomit when I read of Can Constit defense. Such discussion in the US is at least based on original intent & the occasional modern win.

2. Picking up a newspaper in Vancouver is like watching your wife on PornHub with the neighbour – she’s mine & she’s disgusting. There is a sense of distance if she is now divorced from you, & with the neighbour.

This eve, in spite of the on-air static of poor reception, I ran rush-hour into the Valley listening to Seattle classical because
“For 23 years, from 1985 to 2008, Jurgen Gothe was host of the national classical music program DiscDrive, aired across Canada on CBC Radio.
After DiscDrive was cancelled in 2008 as part of a ‘format shift’ Gothe continued… one more year as host of the weekend classical music program Farrago[9] until leaving the CBC in 2009.”

The effers killed him for 2 reasons: he consistently proved what ‘we’ are capable of, & that proof embarrassed too many ‘new Canadians’ on bongo drums.

I would suggest there is something in the water … but THERE IS something in the water. The polarization of people over Trump is staggering. The media has done an admirable job. But it feels like this issue has brought ‘something’ to the forefront … and its not good. I’m not the oldest person on this website … yet my deductions are we are all being played. The evidence is insurmountable that there are ‘unseen elements’ that control the direction this world turns (that is if it does turn). Many will disagree. Even on a site like this, there are readers … THAT WANT TO BELIEVE. I can’t fault them. But the evidence is overwhelming that we are all being played. We are in a battle of principalities.

Had one 35 year friend cut me off. Family came close, but haven’t. This doesn’t related directly to the QOTD, but shows what political environment we’re in. I’m no huge Feinstein fan, but look at what these snotty little shits did to her. Good for her in standing up to them.

Leftists always want to tell us that non-western and indigenous cultures are better, in part because they venerate their elders. The current crop of lefties, though, think age and experience should invalidate your opinion. Idiots. If the opinion of a 14 year old trumps that of an 80 year old, then maybe we should let 3 year olds decide policy, since they’d be smarter yet.

I like your perspective; however, when I feel that the best response is of near-complete anomie, alienation and outright contempt (and I feel that way a significant amount of the time) – I go all out and them “I do not fucking care one God-damned iota…” then add: “and I hope they all kill themselves.”

Such anti-social ideation gets the message across usually without further discussion.

Sorry Stucky that I don’t have any miserable stories.

I’m fortunate to be around like minded people most of the time. My kids are conservative as are 90% of their friends. As my late teenagers turn into young men/woman, they are asking better and more relevant questions, and more importantly are listening to my answers. It is refreshing.
My daughter calls me once a week from college to fill me in on what’s going on in her mandated feminist class. That’s what it is called too, feminist class. She says so far the professor has been good and demands open debate. I realize my daughter, who rarely called before, is looking for props from her crazy dad. Makes me happy to help, and that she wants the help.
Once and a while we visit remote family and some have gone down the rabbit hole, but since we truly love each other, we can have good open debates and we can finish with ‘we are allowed to disagree’. Some, through marriage, are gone, and want a fight, and some keep to themselves. The ones that want a fight, it usually still ends OK when I say “you can chose to drive your Prius if you want and I can chose to drive my pickup (but you’re wasting gas!), it’s when choices are forced away that both of us will be in trouble” They agree.
One funny thing has happened to at least one of them, is they formed a sub-small woman’s group thing, and in a few months they are eating their own. It’s fun to watch.

I was at a gathering the other day, and was lighting up a snowflake that out of nowhere had begun disparaging the competence Trump. I said “We all know he is an asshole, but just exactly what has he done as president, not what he has said, that you disagree with?”

He said something like he is a sexist/racist/whatever. I said, “Again, we all know that he is an asshole, but exactly what has he done, not what has he said, that you disagree with?” He said he would look it up and get back to me.

I then said something to the effect that he should not be disparaging the competence of someone if he cannot name a single thing that the man has actually done that he disagrees with, as it made him look stupid. I told him that I could name several things Trump has actually done that I disagree with, and suggested that he – the snowflake – should pull his head out of his ass and quit spouting off on topics where he is obviously clueless.

Another of the group, a semi-snowflake, at that point tried to play moderator, and suggested that even if we have different opinions I should respect the snowflake’s opinion. I said, and I quote, “Fuck that shit- I do not respect his opinion, not at all given it is based on exactly nothing and is just virtue signalling bullshit”.

I said he is entitled to his opinion, as stupid as it is, but I sure as hell do not respect it, and any suggestion I should is as stupid as the opinion the snowflake is spouting. I got loud cheers from the majority of the folks, and then the snowflake, and the dumbass moderator, made their escape.

Fuck those assholes.

I fortunately live in a region of the country where of its 420 counties, only 20 voted for Hillary. Just about everyone I run into around my town are very open about voting against Hillary except for one group- school teachers. Even Elliot County voted Republican for the very first time since its establishment in 1869, breaking the national county voting record. However, there are family members who live in Kansas and California who were rabid Hillary supporters, and they do indeed hate Donald Trump. However, we still talk to each other.

I have many acquaintances but few friends. I don’t usually bring up politics but don’t shy away if it comes up.
Trump has done some good things, some less than good things, and by omission, some bad things.
I’m not afraid to share these thoughts and usually my acquaintances and friends are similarly minded.
True today as it was when he was elected, the best thing about him is he isn’t Hillary.
That gives him a lot of latitude in my book.

Before Obama, my younger brother, an attorney and a liberal, were very close. It all changed with Oblahblah’s election. After several years of arguments, we agreed to stay away from politics. However, things have gotten worse. This past Christmas Eve, he called me to BS and to wish me a Merry Christmas. 5 minutes into the call something led into him bringing up Trump and what a traitor he was colluding with the Russions. Without all the bloody details, he became enraged when I told him that it was mostly a big charade and that there was a soft coup underway to unseat a sitting president. He ended the call by yelling “MERRY F’NG CHRISTMAS!!!” as he hung up on me. So yeah, politics, and Trump in particular, has caused a division in my extended family.

I avoid TDS people. My lady is pro Hillary and anti Trump. Her older sister is worse. Her daughter married a woman school teacher.
All these women in my life have a loyalty to the sisterhood, and a tolerance for men. Not much loyalty to men, though.

Still, we can get along fine, until conversation turns to politics, or social justice BS.
We’ve had some friction but I no longer participate, when in the midst of hen pecking, or when they watch MS news on TV, or all the other fluff junk that passes for entertainment.
I’ll exit the room, or walk away from any one of them that starts the arrogant hate bitching, all runaway emotions, no logical reasoning.
And so, my gal knows not to talk politics around me, and she’s probably told the other hens.
The kicker is, they think I voted for Trump. Nope.

I notice that none of them read books for knowledge or study. They rather talk. Imagine that.

They also put animals as a higher priority than male humans. Bleeding heart dog lovers. To the point of letting the pooch determine social schedules, thinking the dog has emotional feelings as fragile as a meek child.
One has an old, cripple dog, shitting all over the house. All the dog does is eat, sleep, and shit, and this woman gets awakened at 4 in the morning, and jumps, every time the dog wakes up and stirs.
Look, I love pups, too, but, I’m a conservative white older male, and so my opinion on the dog situation doesn’t carry much weight.

So, I ask you.
Can you smell the shit I’m standing in?

Glad I finally revisited this thread.
Popo, you’re like a stern, wiser, older mentor at times, and what you write, I read, regardless of my agree or disagree.
Your 1st comment was gold, hence all the upvotes.
Some folks are talented, at instantly seeing flawed thinking, and have skill at verbally going toe to toe with arrogant idiots, and WIN, with sound logic.
Others, myself included, are not so fast and lethal, wielding speech. I’m a better writer than speaker.
So, I avoid arguing about politics with people who think in illogical ways, but otherwise can be enjoyable company.

The shit I’m standing in was my humor at play.

Your response, and BL’s were advice of sorts, duly noted.
But, outside of the TDS topic, all the chicks in that circle have good qualities, and I’ve known and shared great times with, for many years, including some exceptionally strong bonds with their other dogs.

That is, the good outweighs the bad, by far.
Fortunately, I don’t live under the same roof as any of them. I can selectively choose when and where to associate with them usually.

Dee Dee’s response is theirs, as part of the sisterhood dog lover’s club. And, I get that. Some sub humans deserve less consideration than a loyal, lovable dog or two.

And, I know how difficult it is to have to put down a dog that has become cherished almost as much as a child.
The female nurturing instinct is strong. It marks the sign of a caring and loving woman, so, there’s that.

But where me and the gals disagree, is when it’s time to let go, say goodbye, and do the humane thing, and give the pup eternal peace, if it exists, and relieve the pup of its miserable struggle.

It’s a quality of life issue, a tiny bit similar to seeing an older family member in great suffering hanging on to a life of pain and suffering. All involved are affected in various ways, and euthanasia as a solution is a tough consideration, and even harder decision.

Especially more difficult for caretakers to perhaps consider if we are pro life, which most are.
But, euthanasia is a topic for another day.

The beauty of being a libertarian is that you can find the good and the (mostly) evil in EVERY POLITICIAN, be quite principled in your position, and piss EVERYONE off. Nobody likes it when they can’t pigeonhole you.

Trump Derangement Syndrome is truly an interesting site to behold. I think that most of it stems from the fact that the afflicted honestly think that so-called Trump supporters, hold him up to be god in the same way that folks did with Obama and Hillary, and nothing could be further from the truth. He is just a symbol for the mutual hatred of everything the establishment republicans and democrats have done to this country over the past 150 years. That he is a brash, adulterous, lying, celebrity symbol, is just the product of the failed party politics that is part of our nation’s destruction.

Personally I always find its better to talk about ISSUES than individuals when it comes to politics. There is generally LOTS of mutual ground to be found on that piece of real estate.

There should be divisions. There needs to be a lot more of it. The country is being destroyed by all these braindead marxists. They can’t even argue their points without appeals to emotion and ad hominem. They don’t have a solid base of knowledge on which to form proper concepts of how they think the world works. Their heads are just filled with bullshit. And then you have the fact that Trump has basically done nothing. So on one side you have destruction and on the other side you have treading water at best. Nowhere on the horizon is anyone or anything that speaks toward a brightening future.

There is little principle being espoused by the GOP either. Or if there is some principled “talk,” it all fall apart once the votes are cast, so everyone knows it was bullshit from the beginning. If the GOP understood economics, stood against crony capitalism, voted to cut government enough to balance the budget, recognized war as the most expensive, most corrupt of all government programs, etc. there would at least be something on the other “side” to oppose these empty arguments from the democrats. When some principled libertarian comes along, with consistent arguments, he/she is blasted for being too radical….and then the republicans go back to spending like drunken sailors. And as for “anyone” speaking toward a brightening future, there are countless people speaking the message of freedom, liberty, etc. but nobody seems to want to hear it….or more importantly, vote for it.
