Gods and Presidents

Guest Post by Not Sure

After reading Stucky’s article concerning TDS and the effect it has on families and it got me to thinking; can TDS be cured? Or, what is the method of transmission for this disease? As I considered, how this all started, it caused me to go way back to the mindset of liberals during the campaign of President Obama and then, even further back to the dawn of man.

Although I am a Christian, I am limiting my inquiry to mans first realization of God consciousness, as a starting point of understanding where did Trump Derangement Syndrome get its start.

Since the dawn of time, men of every tribe, nation and people have looked up to the sky and wondered is there more than just us out there? I believe this question arose because according to the Bible, man was created in the image of God, so it was just mankind’s yearning to understand the source of the One that created him. In coming to terms with mans purpose in realizing there was some supernatural being greater than himself, man realized their accountability to the Creator, mans relationship to each other and finally someone to blame when a lightning bolt would strike and take out their residence.

All that changed when some men discovered reason and science then used these tools to explain the workings of nature and the catastrophic events that once were blamed on an angry and vengeful God. This new insight allowed some to take a different approach to primitive mans belief of a supernatural being as something man created to explain the unexplained and with this new knowledge, declared God to be a myth.

But what if man’s revelation of a supernatural being who created him in his image was true? What if mans reasoning away the existence of God as a fallacy was in itself a lie? What would the heart of one who denies the existence of God look like, if we truly were created by God in his image? I believe in such a heart there would be a God shaped void that would always be longing to be filled.

This is the heart of an educated liberal today and would also explain the inner desire to have a leader they could hope in, to fill this void. I saw this very clearly during the campaign and election of then President Obama, who many revered as the savior of the country with his promise of hope and change. After his election win, there was no end to the number of Executive Orders he could sign to make the world a better place and when he failed, it was our fault for not believing enough. But not to worry, he forgave us and gave us second, third and fourth chances to do better in enabling him to do his work in creating diversity, ending racism and reversing the human caused plague of Global Warming. A good saying of things to avoid around the water cooler was the discussion of religion and politics, but with Obama’s election, the marriage of religion and politics was realized in this one man.

I believe Obama still reigns in the hearts and minds of liberals during the election of 2016, but only in waiting for his blessing for his heir apparent, but then a funny thing happened on the way to the voting booth; Donald Trump. For if Obama had become the god the liberal’s worship as deity, then Donald Trump must be the anti-god who must be defeated at all cost. This is what has manifest the disease of Trump Derangement Syndrome in the liberal mind and why they must do everything in their power to defeat this anti-god who threatens their idol and by extension, the deplorable army that supports him.

Is there a cure for TDS? I believe not, for this ailment goes to the very core of a mans belief system and will be defended with each mans last breath, whether he be Christian, Muslim or in this case, a Liberal. There is no way of reasoning with a religious mind once it has been set and the only means of change will be a holy war to determine a victor. Prepare accordingly.

In other words, what makes a liberal a liberal?

When confused/befuddled/unsure/or otherwise don’t have the answer: go back to the basics.

Here is my take. Many years ago I wondered, when seeing hundreds of thousands of Egyptians out on the streets of Cairo, in the middle of the day, all upset about something or other: WTF aren’t they at work?

Not being cute, stay with me.

Look at the hierarchy of needs and select that unmet need (your choice) that drives some people to do strange things while others (meaning: Us) are able to function quite nicely. Clue, the HON starts with stuff like air, which we all have. Somewhere along the ascending line will be some need that best describes your personal take of WTF is wrong with those people.

Mine: work; w-o-r-k. Done right, it brings rewards of many types. No need to go into detail there. Rather, correlate those factors that contribute to people rejecting the embrace of work. Laziness, idolatry, selfishness, deception, the list goes on and on. I could not care less if my position is derided as being based on “guilt by association”.

Mitt got blasted for his 47% thing, but he was spot on: about half our population does not pay income tax and about half of the voters voted one way and the other half voted the other way. There are plenty of other half & half examples. The point is, half want it given to them and half have enough self respect to earn it through their own efforts and sacrifice.

Psych 101 taught the HON and more specifically it taught about self actualization, which can be achieved by hard work.

IMHO, TDS correlates well with those who refuse work.

Unless you are Sandy O., there is no free lunch.

Good points and very clever reference.

I think, perhaps, this might be a safe space for remembrance.

I took Sociology instead of Psychology, but I “get” the HON, hon and sorry for the pun but it was fun.

Here’s the “remembrance.”

In a lecture hall long ago I listened to a wonderful lecturer tell stories about World War II. He told us about a tribe on an island somewhere in the South Pacific which had been coopted by the Allied troops to help build and maintain an airstrip on their little island. The island was supplied by a plane each month which would either land and offload “supplies” or drop a pallet on the “airstrip.”

Anthropologists visited the island in the fifties and discovered that the natives were in terrible shape, physically and otherwise. They seemed to have forgotten how to feed themselves before the airplanes came. Part of the “religion” involved meeting at the airstrip daily, praying for the supplies to return to the people on the airstrip.

While an ocean full of food they once harvested swims nearby.

And, now, the time cometh to feed the beasts who might one day feed me.

Agree. To progs, Hussein was/is their messiah & DJT is the anti-christ. Just last year I was told the Hussein years were “8 years of awesome”.

I came to this site some years ago as a left leaning centrist. Most of my friends were liberals and thought Obama would bring peace to the world and they believed all that ‘hopy/changy’ stuff. They continue to feed at the left wing trough and I am fairly amazed at their intolerance of anything that does not fit into their political religion. They take the Punch & Judy show in DC seriously. Me, I’m an artist. I went through a rigorous tech training, did the jacket and tie 9 to 5 routine for several years and escaped. Now, 40 years later, I sit off on the sidelines in bemused disbelief.

“For if Obama had become the god the liberal’s worship as deity, then Donald Trump must be the anti-god who must be defeated at all cost. ”

If that statement is true, then so is the following;

For if Trump had become the god the Right worships as deity, then the Left must be the anti-god who must be defeated at all cost.

========

Of course, the keyword in both sentences is “worship”. Whenever a man worships another man — regardless of merit, reasoning, or circumstances —- then ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE.

And we wind up getting what we deserve; tyranny. For man’s heart conspires to do evil, continually.

I thought to include the dangers of Trump worship by some, but think that the number of Trumpites pales in comparison to the number of Obamaites for reasons I expressed in the post.
IMHO, I find most MAGA folks to be critical when Trump makes a mistake, as compared to the unanimous adoration offered up by the liberals to their idol in chief.
Thanks for your on target observation!

“Since the dawn of time, men of every tribe, nation and people have looked up to the sky and wondered is there more than just us out there? “

Your “dawn of time” starts at Creation. And that’s fine, and expected, since you are a Christian.

But, for those who subscribe to evolution the mankind’s “dawn of time” goes back 65,000 years, or more. Human’s belief in gods pre-existed the birth of agriculture and the cultivation of animals. Some believe that an abstract belief in “god” existed almost as soon as we left the trees. To be human is to believe in god.

One day in the creation story could represent millions of years in evolution.

Many Christians hold this view. In this case, Adam may have just been the first of mankind to experience this awakening.

“To be human is to believe in god.” I have had a few near death experiences. Did I just get lucky or were my guardian angels protecting me. I knew a guy who was on a navy ship in WWII, under attack, manning a gun turret. He was bending down to reload and his buddy was blown apart. Lucky? Life is a mystery.

Is the following statement true?

Our personal perception of our identity derives from the stories we tell ourselves.

And from what other people tell us too. Culture conditions the renditions we perform. A sovereign man who thinks he is a rock island will sink in a quicksand of anomie.

from The Conjurer’s Tale:
“Temet nosce and in all dealings choose integrity. Feel gratitude for the childhood that made you who you are today. Tell the truth. Place your trust in things that endure, and make you more eager to create than to consume.
Faith is a choice. If you find yourself sneering at that, if it makes you angry, if you fear being seen as a fool then it is because you have bought into what the Enemy is selling in an attempt to keep you isolated, unprotected and afraid.

We were sold The Age of Aquarius; what we got is People of Walmart.”

I learned about Johari’s window long ago. Let me go see if it has been replaced by a more better theory.

Nah… is still there.

“The Johari Window
By Samuel López De Victoria, Ph.D.

One of the greatest gifts you could give yourself is to seek, find, and apply truth in your life. This is the path to becoming a healthy person. Aligning yourself with the truth permits a better person to eventually emerge from within. If you happen to agree then you will love the Johari Window. Years ago two gentlemen came up with this little creature. Their respective names were Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham. The Johari Window helps you to categorize conscious and subconscious areas of your life. The window works much like a grid. It goes from the obvious and more conscious areas of your life to the less obvious areas that your may not be aware of.

The Johari Window can be looked at from many angles and provides four basic forms of the Self (the Public, Private, Blind, and Undiscovered Self).

The Public Self is what you and others see in you. You typically do not mind discussing with others this part of you. Most of the time you agree with this view you have and others have of you.

The Private or Hidden Self is what you see in yourself but others don’t. In this part you hide things that are very private about yourself. You do not want this information to be disclosed for the reason of protection. It could also be that you may be ashamed of these areas due to vulnerability to having your faults, weaknesses, and dysfunctions exposed. This area equally applies to your good qualities that you don’t want to advertise to the world due to modesty.

The Blind Self is what you do not see in yourself but others see in you. You might see yourself as an open-minded person when, in reality, people around you consider you an anatomical posterior (wink). This area also works the other way. You might see yourself as a “dumb” person while others might consider you incredibly bright. Sometimes those around you might not tell you what they see because they are scared of you, fear offending you, or might consider it a waste of time. It is in this arena that people sometimes detect that your talk and your walk don’t match. Sometimes body-language shows this mismatch.

The Undiscovered or Unknown Self is the self that you cannot see nor others around you. In this category there might be good and bad things that are out of the awareness of others and yours.

The Johari Window is a very helpful internal and external communication grid (intra-psychic and interpersonal). You may find it quite useful as you journey forward into the discovery of who you are.”

The rest is psychobabble but the theory is valid and interesting.

Partially, but our identity probably starts with the lessons and stories from our childhood, for better or worse, and gets modified as we proceed through life. I’m still learning.
