QUOTE OF THE DAY

“The major western democracies are moving towards corporatism. Democracy has become a business plan, with a bottom line for every human activity, every dream, every decency, every hope. The main parliamentary parties are now devoted to the same economic policies – socialism for the rich, capitalism for the poor– and the same foreign policy of servility to endless war. We are beckoned to see the world as if we are threatened and innocent, and the rest are threatening or expendable.”

John Pilger

Pilger is a great example of why it’s so crucially important to find common ground with people of principle you otherwise disagree with. He’s a committed socialist which I despise. But we can agree on many important issues. Yes, corporations use the farce of democracy to feather their nests at our expense. That truth needs to be pounded down the throats of those monsters in d.c. We have a common enemy and they aim to impoverish and/or kill us. We need ally’s. Listen to how Glenn Greenwald and Matt Taibbi are skewering all those lying bastards who pounded this Russia bullshit down our throats for the last 3 years. Chris Hedges, Kaitlin Johnstone, Jimmy Dore-I’ll choose them as soulmates over Sean Hannity, Joe Scarborough, Rush Limbaugh and Rachel Maddow seven days a week.

Excellent comment CC, I’m totally in agreement. I spent my professional life in the media business and have been following Pilger since his Vietnam days. I disagree with his politics but also rank him as the best journalist of my lifetime. My only complaint is that I offered to work for him for free and he turned me down!

His war reporting is heroic and fearless. I hear and read his every word and it’s almost never about his leftist beliefs. He’s able to find the nugget of truth and expound on it clearly and precisely. A journalist for real.
