In my driver’s ed class in high school(1978), the teacher would have the students go out and rotate all of his tires. Everyone learned the proper way to change a tire, and he got his tires rotated. No, not a “public” school.

My wife was at the Toyota dealership about a decade ago. She was on the shuttle with another woman who asked if we were interested in selling our car as her son needed one. My wife said no, but said that it was a manual transmission and asked if he knew how to drive one. The woman didn’t understand the question, asked what my wife meant by a manual transmission, and when my wife explained that it was simply a car in which you depressed a clutch pedal and manually changed the gears, the woman was shocked, and asked how that could possibly be safe and why those kinds of cars were allowed on the road. When the woman got off the shuttle, the driver, who had heard the conversation, said that most of the mechanics at the dealership need to ask others for assistance when working on a manual transmission car as they do not know how to drive one. The LAST time the car was ever at the dealership for anything.
The greatest auto theft deterrent is a manual transmission.
I am surprised they didn’t use their smart phones to get a demonstration on youtube.
What gets me is that I learned to do this when I was 3 or 4 years old.
Several years ago, I read a study that said fewer than 9% of licensed drivers in the US can operate a manual transmission.
Funny how the term “self-driving” has been distorted by TPTB to now mean their government-controlled tax slave-transport vehicles.
