Agreed.
Independence Day was always one of those favorite holidays and as a small boy, like many, I was fascinated by the light, sound, and fire of the summer light shows. When my kids were younger the bottle rockets, Roman candles, mortars, and larger explosive delights were a highly anticipated after dark celebration. As an Army vet, one of my favorite Fourth of July memories is recalling the surge of heat and blood in my veins while standing next to the pack howitzers as they accompanied the 1812 Overture.
During the last ten years as a NJ resident, my perspective has darkened. In the last few, it’s gotten worse. I haven’t bothered to shoot things off for the past two years, whereas before, it was an annual thing. The neighborhood demographic has changed as more Hispanics and Orthodox Jews move in. One of the boys took rockets to a friend’s house across town and a woman had the unmitigated gall to drive her ass from her house a few blocks away to yell and complain. Two years ago my own neighbor complained because the wind was blowing the remnants of fireworks into her perfectly manicured lawn as she sat watching us.
Fuck them all, they deserve what’s coming when I take my family, fireworks, and ammo elsewhere.

Ever do fireworks shooting off flares and hand grenade simulators?
