Ross Perot Dead At 89 After Battle With Cancer

Via ZeroHedge

H. Ross Perot, the billionaire founder of Electronic Data Systems Corp. and Perot Systems Corp. and a two-time independent candidate for president, has died at the age of 89 after a five-month battle with leukemia, the Dallas Morning News reports.

P

Perot was diagnosed in February, but continued to show up to the office most days in his suit with an American flag on the lapel.

Widely credited with throwing the presidency to Bill Clinton in 1992, Perot got 19% of the popular vote as a third party candidate. He ran again in 1996. Perot’s former rival, George H W Bush, died back in November at the age of 1994. His other two presidential rivals, Bill Clinton and Bob Dole – who was the Republican candidate running against Clinton in ’96 – are both still alive.

As of July, Forbes estimated Perot’s wealth at $4.1 billion, and that didn’t include the money he’d transferred to family members. A self-made billionaire, Perot started on his way to success with a $1,000 loan. At first, it was a one-man operation. Some credit Perot with being ‘the Bill Gates of the 1960s’. He became a multimillionaire when he took his first company EDS, public in 1968, and then a billionaire in 1984 when General Motors bought EDS for $2.6 billion.

Perot’s friendship with fellow billionaire Ken Langone, the founder of Home Depot, dates back to the 1960s, when he hired Langone to take EDS public.

The East Texas-born billionaire was awarded the Churchill Medal in the 1980s – becoming only the second American to receive one – for his work on behalf of POWs held during the Vietnam War, and for organizing a daring mission to rescue two EDS employees who were imprisoned in Iran back in 1979.

Because of the efforts and “success” of Ross Perot, the two-party oligarchy (and their minions in the mainstream media and beyond) will NEVER allow the message of any third party candidate(s) to ever get beyond small gatherings. They will NEVER allow another on the stage with them during a presidential debate, will work tirelessly to ensure ballot access problems, and will definitely make sure that any discussions outside of the “status-quo acceptable” framework, are instantly ridiculed or suppressed.

I didn’t support many of his positions, and because he had no cohesive, principled stands on the issues, his Reform Party was sadly doomed to failure. Additionally, he did nothing during the between-run years to get sufficient candidates to stand with him as potential congressmen, etc.

But then the political realm has not been “free” or “open” for many, many decades, and certainly will NEVER be the path to solve our nation’s problems. The two-party oligarchy simply will never allow it.

Third parties (and fourth and fifth parties) only make sense in a parliamentary system or if there’s run-off like in France. With the structural setup we have, a third party’s issues will get co-opted by the major parties.

We have had new parties come on the scene. The GOP was nothing before 1860, and the democrats have undergone changes since the beginning. And I would rather see a parliamentary system over what we have, if we have to have government at all.

What do you expect for nothing? Why punch right? You could criticize Clinton, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Comey, etc., etc. You think that analysis means anything? Does this Titanic deck chair motif go with my eyes?

Correct Mr L. It’s why every government on the face of the globe allows voting. Cause it supports power over peons.

More importantly it gives the voter the perception that they are part of the process – when nothing could be farther from the truth.

One can hope. The Perot museum here in Dallas is an homage to evolution. Disgusting really; seeing all those young minds absorbing all that distortion with such enthusiasm. Mom and dad religiously supporting that which “Science” requires.

Genesis tells THAT God created the universe, not HOW He did it. People were ignorant back then. They thought the Earth was flat.

“But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like one day.” 2 Peter 3:8

Read Genesis 1 and note the order of creation. I find it to be fascinating that plants existed before the sun was created. Note how many times the words “and the evening and the morning were the…” day, are written. God does not often repeat Himself, when He does, it’s important.

Psalm 33:6-9 KJB… “By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done ; he commanded, and it stood fast.”

I get the verse in second Peter. In this chapter, Peter is explaining the longsuffering nature of God to those who were expecting the Kingdom, which didn’t come. Note who he points them to for clarity later in the same chapter. Paul.

Yet…

Exodus 20:11 KJB… “For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is , and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.”

Seems clear to me that in six “evening and morning days” did God speak and it was so. How does He do that??? Creation ex nihilo? He’s God. I just believe that He did.

(And no, there is no sabbath in this dispensation of grace.)

Perot was right. NAFTA cost the US countless jobs (including my brother’s) and ended up throwing a lot of Mexican’s into poverty as well when it allowed the Mexican government enough political leverage to devalue the peso. Let us never forget that NAFTA was signed into law by Clinton, but was negotiated by Bush Sr. Let us also remember that NAFTA was originally being offered up as a treaty, which means it would have required a 2/3 super-majority vote in the Senate. When it became clear that there were not enough votes to pass it, they just called it an “agreement” and passed it anyway with a simple majority.

That’s correct. A lot of people don’t know this, they think it was just Clinton. But Bush and his cronies were the brainchild of NAFTA.

He was right about that. I liked the idea of a smart businessman as President. His voice and lack of charisma stopped him. People vote with feelings, a lot do anyhow. He wasn’t appealing.

George HW Bush gave us Clarence Thomas (excellent) and David Souter (fair-poor). Bill Clinton gave us Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephanie Breyer (both horrible). So it probably would have been a little better if Bush had won a second term. Perot almost certainly helped Clinton win in 1992. Oh well.

I find the argument AGAINST someone whose policies you SUPPORT, that goes “you can’t support him or you will help elect the other guy” to be truly disturbing. It is EXACTLY how we have ended up with a two-party oligarchy that is destroying this nation. If people actually voted for the candidate that best represented their views and their principles, we might be less of the way down this hole than we are today. Indeed, a parliamentary system would certainly encourage that kind of voting behavior more than our current one, but if independents and other party candidates kept winning, that too would shift people’s minds. And short of NO GOVERNMENT, a parliamentary one would actually be an improvement in gaining representation for the majority that is clearly being left out by the two-party oligarchy.

We are supposed to be a Republic of 50 sovereign states. The Electoral College serves quite well to balance out the massive voting blocks of the larger states.

And it is quite disingenuous to want to “re-do” the results once done. EVERY candidate develops a strategy based on the rules of the game at the beginning. Would Trump have campaigned as he did if the popular vote was the deciding factor? Do you honestly think that tons and tons of GOP voters got out to vote in states where Hillary was guaranteed to win (and visa versa)? Sorry, the rules were set and the campaigns followed them.

And DEMOCRACY is a horrible system of government. Two wolves and a sheep deciding on dinner as they say. Mob rule as they say.

The problem with Perot – he was smart – had charts – graphs. The media and general mindless unwashed masses made fun of him – because he had graphs – and they don’t have the patience of a fruit-fly to even try to understand. So they mocked him.

The joke is on all those fools who lost their jobs to NAFTA.

There was a Deep State conspiracy against him (mostly orchestrated by George H.W. Bush and Co.) that played out somewhat behind the scenes but also in front of the cameras. No doubt members of his family were threatened. There was something I vaguely remember about his daughter’s wedding. He is a businessman, not a politician, and no doubt he saw just what a bullshit mess politics is and said “I’m done.” A shame, because it left his party without a figurehead, and from what I saw at the time, the figurehead was pretty much all that was holding them together.

This is the commentary from Charles Burris that accompanies the post and video:
“This powerful video discusses the little known backstory of why 1992 presidential candidate Ross Perot was blackmailed and intimidated to drop out the race. As I pointed out in a previous LRC blog, none of this crucial information will be reported in mainstream regime media reports on the death of Perot.

James Gordon “Bo” Gritz is a former United States Army Special Forces officer Green Beret colonel & Delta Force commander who served for 22 years, including in the Vietnam War. I met and discussed the factual issues presented in the video with him in August 1999. They are detailed in his authoritative book, Called To Serve: Profiles in Conspiracy From JFK to George Bush (of which Colonel Gritz presented to me an autographed copy). Gritz was privately commissioned by billionaire Ross Perot to attempt POW rescues in conjunction with the Vietnam War POW/MIA issue. In 1986, after a trip to Burma (now Myanmar) in the Golden Triangle to interview drug kingpin Khun Sa regarding possible locations of U.S. POWs, Gritz returned from Burma with a videotaped interview of Khun Sa purporting to name several officials in the Reagan/Bush administration involved in narcotics trafficking in Southeast Asia. Among those named was Richard Armitage, who later served as Deputy Secretary of State during George W. Bush’s first term as president. Gritz believed that those same officials were involved in a cover-up of missing American POWs. Perot later confronted George Herbert Walker Bush with the conclusive damning evidence Gritz had uncovered. Bush did nothing. A frustrated Perot became adamantly determined to challenge President Bush in his 1992 re-election effort. Bush and deep state forces had other plans for the insurgent Perot.”
