I only disagree with your belief that you don’t need to read it. Everything else I do agree with. It is important to understand your enemy. General Patton beat Rommel in North Africa because he read Rommel’s book.

Here’s what Rommel was talking about;
In May 1942 the Afrika Korps, aided by fresh Italian troops, staged a classic Blitzkrieg attack, surging through the British defenses, finally taking the city of Tobruk. The Brits were about to be utterly defeated — and the Germans would control the entire Middle East. (We can only speculate whether or not this would have helped Germany win the greater war.)
There was only one problem. Rommel only had about 125 tanks left.
Rommel asked Hitler for significant troop reinforcements and supplies. Hitler refused! (Hitler decidedto keep all available resources for the upcoming offensive in Russia.)
The Brits capitalized on Hitler’s tactical blunder. The Brits rushed in soldiers, tanks, artillery and ammunition …. it was Dunkirk in reverse …. and wiped out Rommel.
