Nonsense. The video is nothing more than over-exaggerated meme. FWIW Vegan and vegetarianism are not the same thing. The longest lived people in the world are vegetarians. That’s an indisputable fact.

“How is it that the largest and strongest land animal is a vegetarian (vegan?)”

The implied suggestion is that bigger and stronger is the determining factor or the desired goal or the measure of what is right. How about asking; how is it that the fastest land animal is a carnivour? Maybe speed is desired above size and strength? How about asking; possibly the most dominant predator in the oceans is the great white shark and a carnivour. Perhaps being top of the food chain is the desired goal?

These types of questions dont mean anything. They start with the desired outome (size is best or stength is best or speed is best or top of food chain is best or whatever) and then find a question to give that answer.

In your post: “How is it that the largest and strongest land animal is a vegetarian (vegan?)”. Is this not a question you posed or is it a quote from someone else? In either case I question the value of the question or, more specifically, the premise contained in the question.

If you want an answer to the question then I guess it would have to involve an investigation into how that animal evolved, genetics, environment, and a bunch of other fields which I am not an expert in.

But the fact that the elephant is a vegetarian and also the strongest and largest animal means what? The question is designed to imply being vegetarian is good because being big and strong is good. Well that might be true if being big and strong are the only determining factors to what is good.

@Donkey

Of course, if the question is just asking out of curiosity why the largest and strongest land animal is a vegetarian then I guess a zoologist would need to tell us. If that was the nature of the question then I’m sorry that I read it as being a premise to support vegetarianism. Just the way I read it.

aka,

Is it not fact that an elephant is a vegan AND the biggest strongest animal on land? I posted that fact in the form of a question because I am curious how that can be since every body builder I have ever listened to tells me you cannot build/maintain muscle without protien.

@Donkey

Yeah, I understand your question better. Yes, it is a fact that the elephant is vegan and biggest/strongest. Why this is so I am not sure but I would guess that slow metabolism will be a part of the answer as well as evolution of that species, the environment it lives in, genetics, etc. And they just aren’t built to eat animals – they can’t move fast enough.

Of course as you know plants have protein but I guess it must be consumed in huge quantities to compete with the protein density in meat. So for a body builder to be vegan they need to eat … all the time.

On the other hand, I believe the largest animal to ever have existed is the blue whale and that eats mainly krill (i.e. not vegan). Up to 4 tons per day. But again slow moving, slow metabolism.

aka,

Thanks. That was a great answer. It still amazes me that an elephant can be that big and strong as a vegan.

What say you about hippos and water buffalo? They are both very large, very strong and very fast. They also can and do kill the king of the jungle on occasion.

aka.attrition

@Donkey

I don’t know is the short answer. Hippos and water buffalo are indeed large, powerful animals and can certainly move at a fair speed and for a fair duration. In fact, hippos are often the biggest danger for tourists to game parks! Some herbivores can run for very long times at fairly high speeds. And although herbivores sometime can kill a predator it is always a defensive move, not for eating.

Herbivores need to be eating all the time and there lies a main difference, or so it seems to me. The carnivores can hunt, kill, eat, and then rest and live off that meal for a long time (high energy density food) whereas the herbivore needs to be eating/grazing all the time on low energy density food. And each species has evolved in their own way. Maybe that is part of the answer?

Different animals metabolize food differently. Herbivores have lots of intestines, the ruminants have several ‘stomachs’ that can digest vegetable matter and convert it to energy. The teeth of herbivores are different from carnivores, the guts of herbivores are different from carnivores. Shit from a carnivore tends to be fouler in smell vs. herbivore manure.
Herbivores can attain larger size than carnivores but they eat huge amounts of food compared to carnivores.

Humans, like raccoons, are omnivores, we can eat meat and plants and thrive. Look at our teeth, see those canines? They’re there for tearing meat and the molars are there to grind both meat and plants. We can get by quite well on a mostly plant diet so long as that little B12 issue is addressed.

There are lots of misconceptions about diet out there and lots of food ‘gurus’ to tell you what to eat. What we have today that our grandparents didn’t is toxic food. Glyphosate riddled grains, ditto for pesticides, other herbicides and GMO ‘food.’ The chemical fertilizers deplete the soil and vegetables and fruits are picked unripe so they can travel. A store bought tomato vs. a homegrown tomato? No comparison.

My grandparents were farmers who grew most of what they ate. They raised hogs and chickens and had a huge garden. Meat was on the table but there were also lots and lots of veggies. Eggs and milk were also on the table because cows and chickens.
They worked their asses off, hard work and…as soon as they could, most of my aunts and uncles ran off to get away from the work, headed to town.

In fact their digestive systems are so inefficient that the have to eat their own or other elephants droppings to maintain microbes in their gut. I was only able to get about two minutes in before his odd speech pattern, feminine mannerisms, and heavily practiced punch lines turned me off. He’s not speaking from his heart, he’s reading off a script. And his opener, what’s the best way to avoid death? is a preposterous premise. Eating an egg a day is the same risk as smoking five cigarettes a day? Who could possibly take some who proposes something so absurd seriously?

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m looking for authenticity and healthful vigor when it comes to taking advice on nutrition. To use a McDonald’s Breakfast sandwich as an example of eating meat is dishonest beyond the pale. His entire talk should have been about processed foods, not meat itself.

You want to listen to someone who knows what they’re talking about?

Joel Salatin is able to speak extemporaneously about his farm and his methods because he lives it, and that passion shows through in every sentence. He’s not an academic who talks theories and relies on studies, he sees what works and what does not and he understands the much bigger picture that some soft man with a lanyard around his neck and a string of capital letters after his name could never hope to grok.

Here’s a proposal. You don’t want to eat meat? Fine, but you can only eat fruits, grains, and vegetables that are grown in a medium free of soil because without livestock, no soil.

Have I ever heard of green manure?

You are so far out of your depth on this topic it feels cruel to continue engaging you. Green manure produces soil at a rate of 1 inch per century in the best case scenario. A single cow produce almost 1 million pounds of manure during it’s lifetime. We’ve added between six and twelve inches of topsoil in under ten years. And that’s without taking into account the flora that develops in the soil because of the composting process.

Again, there’s so much you can only learn by actually doing something as opposed to watching a TED Talk video.

I tried to get a couple of old-time new age farmers to comment here but they read a few things and decided to keep a close eye on me. The minds of folks here work out problems as they see them. Some of them, they do not want to see. No one can make someone laugh at something they do not think funny.

So, there are some holdouts from Big Agra around here, believe it or not. They farm natural, but with technology to some extent. It pays off as long as people like myself realize the value of high quality produce. There are some really big truck patch farms near the Amish community I visit. Next year, I plan to visit those. And snoop.

But, that doesn’t mean we are worry free. The real industrial farms are upriver on both the Mississippi and Missouri, as are all the runoff from St. Louis, so the seepage from the flooding this year will be particularly hard on crops, I imagine.

We are on a collision course with destiny. Think of all the times you have heard “One of these days…” in context of catastrophe. Now, imagine ONE of these days finally arrives.

I do not know what happens here, 50 miles from any real city. I know what happens in the city. They shut out the lights in the dangerous areas first so the dangerous people still killing each other off first. This gives them time to get their own security precautions set up and active (having been put in place at taxpayer expense) …

When the lights go off, the only ways will be the old ways if you intend to survive.

Or, as you and I, HSF, and other TBP faithful know, they will be the only ways once the lights and power goes off. Try to not be inside the killing zones for the first panic. I managed that one, as have many others. Now, we await the arrival of ONE of these days.

I indeed promised Donkey a survival school essay and will actually put it out here soon, knowing full well my paltry two weeks at Fairchild will make several old soldiers who spent more time in the latrine at survival school than I did. But, remember… I was MISSION crew AWACS. And, enlisted technician, at that. I.e.? EXPENDABLE.

But, if I write it, others, like yourself and Flea and the other marks around might supplement my experience at survival school with some real advice. [My sage advice revolves around keeping a bit of toilet paper dry for emergency use.]

First of all I grew up working on family and neighbors commercial farms; not hobbyist farms born out of inheritance. These were real working farms, using tons of chicken manure, 10.10.10,pesticides and herbicides, so I understand the science of commercial farming fairly well. These are the farms that feed the masses , unlike what you or I could ever do with limited organic resources. That said, for small operations green manures work fine for thousands of truck gardens across the globe.

BTW , my father in law owned chickens houses of which the manure gave him and many other owners all sort of pulmonary problems , including death. Manure gases and it’s dried form are not healthy to breath. Many learn this the hard way.Don’t be one of those.

There are quite a few people green manure gardening. Much to your chagrin , I’m sure

Well then that quack is an exceptional specimen. When I used to power lift I had to maintain a 6000 calorie per day diet just to stay at my target weight of 190 lbs at 5-8. There is no fucking way that dude is on a 1250 cal/day diet and maintaining that body mass. His body would burn through all his glycogen stores in less than an hour and he would be catabolizing all that muscle mass just to fuel basic functions. Not to mention that stress he would be putting on his kidneys and liver for that protein processing. Unless he has some genetic anomaly that allows him to put on mass in a caloric deficit, which is impossible as far as I am aware of, then he should donate his dna code to science for better understanding. Moreover, anyone that sets a record for lifting in any weight class is 99% juicing. Accept that as fact from a former power lifter.

No way that dude is natural and in caloric deficit without muscle wasting. It is physiologically impossible…unless he is living off the energy in the air. Then he should worry about Greta the CO2 Grinch Thunberg. Having been a vegetarian earlier in my lifting career I can say that it is possible to make great gains in muscle mass and strength as a vegan/vegetarian, but you have to eat constantly. By constantly I mean all fucking day long every 60 to 90 mins 10 to 15 times a day depending on your body type and genetic dispositions; however, you cannot compete with nutrient availability of meats, poultry and fish by density. The one thing that is rarely talked about by vegans and vegetarians in sports is the amount of food they have to eat to offset lack of animal proteins in the diet. Sports supplements like protein powders and RTD protein shakes are much better than they were a decade ago, but nothing will ever match eat good old four-legged, winged or finned proteins.

Regardless, to each their own and whatever floats there boat. To what I can recall I dont think that vegan super god has released any real research data that supports his assertions regarding his pay to lose program.

If it sounds too good to be true it is. There are several reasons why protein and caloric intake are king in power-lifting and body building (especially during mass building phase to counter catabolzation). His diet seems decent for the cutting phase prior to a competition for body building, but it is absolute muscle suicide for lifting.

I would like to see that guy’s lab work after a workout. In particular, his creatine kinase as that diet would probably cause exertional rhabdomyolysis at some point if muscle science is any indicator.

Which comes first, the mental health isdues, or the veganism?

I have known vegans who also were concentration camp thin, but in their 20’s.

My brother was in great shape, and a rock climber until he went vegetarian, and got fat and lost all his muscles. Went back to meat and rides his bike 100 miles a day. His ex looks 20 years older warmed over death. Shes still vegetarian.

I was a fat fuck until i tripled my meat intake doing ketogenics and lost 70 pounds. Never felt better in last 30 years.
You are what you eat.
Food is medicine.
50,000 years man was a healthy high fat meat eater. Over last 30 years of lo fat hi carb the world became fat bastards.

Looks like they all need more ” detox “. It is probably better for ones heart if you could get enough proteins. At 58 I think I will stick to meat for the next 20 years . If still alive I will think about becoming a vegetarian.

The point was to look at these “influencers”, listen to what they had to say and make a determination in your own mind whether or not they appear to be healthy specimens of human development.

I see a lot of severely unhealthy, unsettled, disturbed looking people who cling to a belief despite the manifest reality of their own deteriorating bodies. Not that they don’t have every right to do whatever they want to their body, up to and including causing their own premature death, but to try and sell it as the exact opposite- like the Greta phenomenon- is not something to just ignore. You point out the obvious whenever someone tries to convince you otherwise.

And those people are by and large not suffering from being unattractive, but rather they are mentally unstable. The unattractive part is our visceral reaction to poor physiognomy. In other words, it’s natural to be repulsed by a sick animal and there is clearly something wrong with them.

House cats will do this as well. It’s also a known fact dogs can smell cancerous tissue, tumors, and sense epileptic seizures before they happen.
A normal, healthy animal will have a certain scent and can sense when things aren’t right among themselves. One of my cats has diabetes and requires shots. His brother would hiss at him and the favor was returned when he, in turn, was recovering from a preventative distemper shot. They’d slap each other with paws but no biting or such as they are, or were, more domesticated than ferals.

Today, you can and should have one of the beautiful women such as those I enjoy. His friend goes home and thinks about it and decides that his friend is right. Why should he have to live with a short, dark fat woman when he can have a beautiful white woman who is super-patriotic besides?

He tells his friend of his decision. You won’t regret it, says his friend who introduces him to one of his former girl friends. The friend then runs to console the abandoned wife. Days later when his friend shows up sadder and wiser, he finds his former amigo living with his former wife. His jaw drops. His friend tells him, amigo, do not be surprised, you abandoned your wife who is an excellent cook and great housewife for the thrill of having a beauty by your side. As your friend, I felt obligated to rescue the poor woman you left to fend for herself.

It was once said that most mental hospitals could be emptied of most of their patients if only their diet was proper and included the right type of protein found in eggs and meat as the majority of their diet. I don’t know how true that really is but strict vegetarian diet in people I know has produced some real crackpot, crazy behavior.

The ones who won’t eat eggs in the least and think you can live on grain and rabbit food are squirrels and have little or no stamina. I read a report that veg males have very low libido and make lousy lovers for their mates which may be why TPTB push the veg lifestyle to thin the herd.

Like I said, you read, just nothing of any value. Too much selenium will is worse for you than da Joos.

How Much Selenium Is Toxic?
Eating just one Brazil nut will put you over your recommended daily value, contributing 137 percent.

However, although unhealthy, it is unlikely this amount would cause a severe toxic reaction. The National Institutes of Health lists the tolerable upper limit level for selenium from food and supplements combined as:

Children, 1 to 3 years of age, 90 micrograms
Children, 4 to 8 years of age, 150 micrograms
Teens, 9 to 13 years of age , 280 micrograms
Adults, 14 years of age and older, 400 micrograms
NutritionFacts.org suggests that eating as few as four Brazil nuts every day may actually bump you up against the tolerable daily limit for selenium and put you at risk for toxicity. When eating Brazil nuts, take into consideration the other food sources of selenium you eat, such as fish, ham, beef, turkey and eggs. Also, if you take supplements, be sure to check the ingredients for levels of selenium and add that amount to your daily intake.

Symptoms of Selenium Toxicity
Selenium toxicity is a condition known as selenosis. An early indicator of excess intake of selenium is a garlic odor on your breath and a metallic taste in your mouth. The most common clinical signs of high selenium intake include:

Hair and nail loss or brittleness
Lesions of the skin
Nausea
Diarrhea
Skin rashes
Mottled teeth
Fatigue
Irritability
Nervous system abnormalities
More acute symptoms of selenosis are severe gastrointestinal and neurological reactions such as:

Acute respiratory distress syndrome
Myocardial infarction
Hair loss
Muscle tenderness
Tremors
Lightheadedness
Facial flushing
Kidney failure
cardiac failure
Death, in rare cases

Good choice Donkey.

Children are very easy, feed them whole fruits and vegetables, grass feed organic meat and avoid Chinese owned meat companies. The BIG thing is to keep sugar and
processed cereals away from the kids….very important. Limit dairy but not eggs..

We cut up apples and pears and offered grapes and organic raisins for snack for our grandkids. People are too damn lazy to peel and cut up fruit these days…….why is that? NO soft drinks with sugar and phosphoric acid, which most have and diet drinks are a big NEVER. Whatever you do don’t fall into the mac& cheese trap and growth hormone chicken nugget excuse that that is all they will eat. Children should eat what you eat and no special crap dinner for the child every night as it will ruin their health eating dead and over processed food.

Enzymes are only available in fresh uncooked or lightly steamed fruits and vegetables so eating raw is very important. I eat raw whole food every day, that is why I have not turned out like The Flash who is full of shit and prolly needs an enema.

Edit : Also, sunshine is important, you can get all the vitaminD you need in 10-15 minutes of having the sun shine on your face. So, take the child outside to play.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4315380/

A Plant-Based Diet, Atherogenesis, and Coronary Artery Disease Prevention

A plant-based diet is increasingly becoming recognized as a healthier alternative to a diet laden with meat. Atherosclerosis associated with high dietary intake of meat, fat, and carbohydrates remains the leading cause of mortality in the US. This condition results from progressive damage to the endothelial cells lining the vascular system, including the heart, leading to endothelial dysfunction.
The primary aim of the plant-based diet is to maximize the consumption of nutrient-dense plant foods while minimizing processed foods, added sugars, oils, and animal-based foods.3 A plant-based diet encourages lots of vegetables and fruits and is low in fat.4 Broadly defined, a plant-based diet has significant health benefits, and studies have shown that a plant-based diet can be an effective treatment for obesity,5–9 diabetes,10–14 hypertension,15 hyperlipidemia,16 and heart disease.17,18

“men and women of all ages need good blood flow to the genitals for arousal and erections. Many people with clogged arteries may, well, have trouble.Fischer’s diet follows Ornish’s vegetarian 10%-fat diet, but adds some meat to the regimen. Overall, a week of the Better Sex Diet would involve eating lots of fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes, getting 10% of calories from fat, 5% from saturated fat, and 75% from carbohydrates.”

https://www.insider.com/how-does-being-vegan-affect-sex-drive-2018-7

“We want to look at foods that boost circulation, because not only do we want to boost circulation to your brain —which is your sexiest organ — but it also boosts circulation to other parts of your body that you want to work properly,” Taub-Dix told INSIDER. “So most of the foods that are vegan can do that. Foods like cayenne pepper, dark chocolate, fruits, leafy greens, sunflower seeds, beets. All of those foods would help to boost circulation, and when you boost circulation, there’s a greater chance that you’re going to get the response you’re looking for.”

The people in the video are extremes, they are neurotic, insecure and fearful and look to food as a means of attempting to achieve a form of normalcy. They treat their diet like some kind of OCD, a religion of a sort too.
There are great benefits in eating a mostly plant based diet, but animal protein is necessary because we humans can’t process B12. We CAN meat (<heh) our protein needs by eating lots of plant foods but we still need a source for the B12.
Here's the deal….common sense. People who follow dietary extremes have a form of mental illness, raw foods only, fruit and nuts only, and whatever else they come up with. The people who are the healthiest eat mostly plant food but they also eat meat, eggs and fish, albeit in limited amounts. Choosing a variety of incomplete proteins such as beans, nuts, seeds, whole grains and vegetables can ensure that your essential amino acid needs are met, even if you choose to exclude animal products from your diet. But you still need that b12.
Soy is a staple of vegetarian diets and that's becoming an issue, especially the GMO soybeans that are almost all you can find in the US. Feeding GMO soy and grains to animals and then eating those animals is decidedly unhealthy.
B0ttom line: Do your research, eat a well balanced diet, emphasis on fruits and veggies and don't get so neurotic about food.

Hardly . I eat plenty of vegetables I personally ferment which contain more viable gut bacteria than you could ever get from a pill. BTW, your gut contains either a majority of meat processing bacteria, with cancerous buy products , or those that digest vegetables. There can be only one and you get to choose.

Do vegans and vegetarians have healthier gut bacteria?

“A research study conducted in 2011, and looking at the effects of diet on the gut microflora, indicated that those on a vegan diet have an increased amount of a type of bacteria called Prevotella – as opposed to those who eat meat protein and animal fat, who show a higher level of a type of bacteria called Bacteroides.1 Bacteroides feeds on animal proteins and fats, and a high level of this type of bacteria has been associated with higher levels of colon cancer. A microbiome more dominated with Prevotella enterotype bacteria ( Prevotella feeds on plant material), could potentially be more protective and help to maintain a healthier gut.

Interestingly, those following a vegan diet have also been found to have higher levels of short chain fatty acids like Propionate and Butyrate, which are thought to have highly protective functions in the body. Those who aren’t vegans had higher levels of trimethylamine oxide. Eggs, beef, pork and fish are the major sources of carnitine and choline that are converted by the gut microbiota to trimethylamine, then oxidised in the liver and released into circulation as TMAO (which is linked to risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disorders).5
The review also noted that the vegan subjects tended to be healthier than their vegetarian/omnivorous counterparts; this was thought to be related to lower levels of inflammation observed in the vegans.”

Actually .. there is ample evidence recently attesting to your point. Medical dieticians are working wonders with mental illness by changing a person’s gut microbiome.

OK, a discussion with some meat to it.

Sorry, couldn’t help it.

If ever I needed reinforcement that reason and intellect are easily overwhelmed by emotion this thread is it. Everyone comes in with their pre-held positions and defends them with all manner of ill-logic. Fine…really. This is a very difficult topic. Sustenance…what could be more fundamental than that?

I wrote a big, long, standard (for me) thought salad (TM) in response to the “Thoughts on Civil War” thread the other day…just as I was about to post it, the text disappeared and I had neither the time nor inclination to try and re-write it. One of my main points was the idea that Civilization itself is far more a psychological construct than an intellectual or a physical one. My argument is simple and sound: In order for us sentient humans to build apply our intelligence towards building a civilization, we must first decide that it would be a worthwhile thing to do. If you really think about it, this is the very most fundamental idea of apply preference to to future well-being over that in the present. This is a a psychological process NOT an intellectual one. And, though it seems so simple and we take it completely for granted, it took perhaps thousands perhaps hundreds of thousands of GENERATIONS for sentient humans to come to this decision.

And it is very fragile…that was the point to be made on the Civil War article. What could turn faster than mass human psychology.

The point for this article, is that I took HSF’s point as it was intended and to heart. These are NOT healthy people. Period. But, again, the clear and obvious physical decline in health is really just a manifestation of the unhealthy psyches that lie beneath. There is definitely a way to be a healthy vegetarian, and probably a vegan as well, but this aint it. We know it when we see it…unless we are wearing blinders. Hint, we are all, all the time, at least about something. Some blinders cannot even be removed, the best we can do is to simply make ourselves aware of them.

Like I said above, sustenance is absolutely fundamental as a concept. Diet is the most important controllable factor in health. Watch Dr. Peter Atria on Joe Rogan’s podcast..he says that calorie reduction clearly is the single most important factor in longevity among virtually all mammals. But, it shouldn’t need to be said, that there is a balance that…like the riddle from The Dark Tower:

“What is better than all the Gods
and worse than Old Man Splitfoot?
The dead eat is always
and the living who eat it die slow.”

Again, Balance in ALL things.

Final point, and a broader one, a good question to ask when you see angry vegans or social justice warriors or anyone with any ideology at all…”What is it really?” Is it a sound, robust, genuine offer of service from a sound and robust human being? Or is it an expression of some deep-seated psychological weakness/pain/horror/etc. that has nothing to do with sustenance or social order or whatever the person is espousing. It is almost always the latter.

Te best we can do is to really examine ourselves and make an effort to do the former as often as possible. That or simply take Lincoln’s advice and remain silent.

Where the hell was this law when I went to college in Fort Collins?

But really, it’s just another manifestation of an attention seeking, narcissistic, RIGHT NOW culture. If it feels good do it and no one will care in a hundred thousand years. There’s even some logic to it, but it doesn’t work….not for long.

It ties right back in to my point above, the things that work well for a long time, that iterate well, aren’t obvious to us in our little lives, but that’s what moral action IS…those things that work well over the longest time frames across the broadest scopes. In fact, they are impossible to learn from scratch in a single lifetime. But they have been encoded in stories for as long as language has existed. We ignore these stories, morality itself, at our peril.

Vegan/vegetarian diets can be successful if you supplement correctly. Otherwise you do risk being deficient in a number of fat soluble vitamins.

Veganism/vegetarianism is a modern construct that has no basis in human history. Human biochemistry is optimized for an omnivore diet, regardless of what food “religion” you follow.

I tend to consider what works for me. For lunch i’ll have a protein shake w/ milk and some fruit. Been doing that for 20 years. I am then able to go home and work out for 90 minutes (before dinner) on my crosstrainer. If I have ANYTHING else for lunch, I feel weak and anemic and can in no way get through a 90 minute workout. Occasionally, I’ll go out for lunch and order a sandwich and fries. The rest of my afternoon is spent feeling like crap. I would say the proof is in the results … or pudding.

So, there’s a guy I listen to pretty regularly, Mark Passio. I’ve recommended a few of his specific videos over here a couple of times. His seminar on Natural Law, and the 2nd Amendment, are tops, second to none.

A few months ago, he did two episodes, back to back, on a plant-based diet.
https://youtu.be/l4H2h1S-hcc

Now, to be honest, I couldn’t make it through these particular episodes. I’m not ready to hear that particular info. I’m still at the point I think keto is probably better for you than carbs. But I could be wrong – I hold about 40 pounds more than my body should have. But I definitely don’t want to give up meat.

That being said, I think Mark Passio is pretty well on track for what’s happening in the world, and how to get out of it. I hold his material in high regard. But then, I think about my acquaintance, Ole’ Hard-Scramble, and think about all the information he’s given to us over the years.

I think we can all agree factory farming is not healthy, nor sustainable – That’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about health of the human body, and what provides the best fuel for the body. Mark Passio goes to great length to detail out how healthy he is – I have no reason to believe he’s lying to us, for his benefit.

Anybody else watch Mark Passio’s material? Any thoughts?

Well, Tim, there is your problem. Even if you know what to do, you will only do what you want.

Ah, but soy binders went into the production. Interesting note: I’m in the store seeking spices and came across some interesting blends for different types of cooking, read the label and they all had soy. Now, why? I looked up how soy is used in food products and had a bit of an eye opener. Seems soy is in vegetable broth, vegetable starch, vegetable gum and a host of other products like storemade pastries, bread, and a huge list of other stuff. Seems soy is cheap, has the plant protein and is used as a filler. Yum.

There’s a book, the “hidden dangers of soy” that is ignored because not a lot of people are all that allergic to soy. The author almost died and so her focus is/was on the toxic reaction some people have to soy.

However, the main point of the book SHOULD have been that they are simply putting by-products from one industry into other industries and calling it a new name… filler.

Basically, sawdust makes good filler too. I’m sure there is a certain amount of wood pulp allowed by FDA standards. IF the fee has been paid by the manufacturer using sawdust as filler, that is…

It is all about revenue generation.

Soybeans are subsidized down here too, did you know? Is why nobody says nuthin’ ’bout corn or soybeans around here. Not iffen You’rns want to pass through without a fight. (You’rns is a local term)

Haha… there would be no fight, but the farmers do get defensive about their line of work. And from the brand signs in their fields tying them to BIG Companies and Big Government, I imagine they have a lot of property tied up in being defensive about corn and soybeans. Life, liberty and property… they have got a LOT of property to defend.

They are also pretty much all pretty rich… a lot more so than when I was a kid. Good Lord! $75,000 pickup trucks and $200,000 tractors?

That ain’t FARMING…That’s the WAY to do it! Money for nothing and your chicks for free!

Mags- When I was a kid on the farm, my father planted soy beans ONLY to let them mature w/beans and then he turned them under to build up the soil for the next planting season. Picking off a pod of soybeans one day, I asked why we never ate the beans before turning under the plants. His reply was that soybeans aren’t fit for human consumption and are actually toxic. I researched that as an adult and sure enough, they are toxic to all monogastric animals. They also promote cancer cell growth. WIN/WIN for TPTB who just want us gone.

It’s sad that people who look like they’ve just stepped out of a concentration camp are still able to influence people to try that lifestyle. It’s pretty damn obvious that the human body, and specifically the human brain, requires a certain amount of animal fats and proteins to keep functioning properly.

The human brain needs cholesterol and saturated fats to function best. I’m guessing the people in those videos eating just their giant bowls of fruit each day are coming up a bit short in the fat and cholesterol departments. It’s sad to see how some of the ladies were fairly attractive at the start of their vegan journey and years later looked like they were just walking zombies. Unfortunately I think this is exactly the physical state that the powers that be would like everyone else to be in, and thus the push to get everyone off animal products.

And statins kill your supply of much needed cholesterol. Don’t take them. Ever. Yes, the brain needs cholesterol, among other things. Also, try MCT oil, does wonders.

At 2% of the total body weight the brain consumes a full 20% of the energy.

I just placed my order with the caterer for our ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) meeting tomorrow evening.

27 fine Texas barbecue and 4 vegetarian meals.

I don’t mind accommodating people’s preferences, but I am always careful about the seating arrangements.

I try to keep the vegetarians away from the windows. They seem to have a tendency to leeeeeaaaaan towards the light.

And don’t even ask what happens if it starts to rain. They all run outside and blossom, and then return to the meetings about 2 inches taller.

I’ll take the Texas barbecue thank you…
