It is my sincere desire to provide readers of this site with the best unbiased information available, and a forum where it can be discussed openly, as our Founders intended. But it is not easy nor inexpensive to do so, especially when those who wish to prevent us from making the truth known, attack us without mercy on all fronts on a daily basis. So each time you visit the site, I would ask that you consider the value that you receive and have received from The Burning Platform and the community of which you are a vital part. I can't do it all alone, and I need your help and support to keep it alive. Please consider contributing an amount commensurate to the value that you receive from this site and community, or even by becoming a sustaining supporter through periodic contributions. Opt out.
Starve the retail beast.
Needs vs. Wants.

Disregard advertising’s influence.
Coupons, sales, and specials are designed to entice.
Ever notice how urgency is touted, to make you spend quickly, for fear of missing out?

As for gifts, I try to make them simple, useful gestures, disobeying old traditions of spending a chosen amount, and giving to dozens on each merchant holiday.

Does Uncle really need another cheesy necktie? Slippers?
Does Junior need the latest video game?
Do you really need the latest model of Apple gadget?
How about Honey Bunny…does she need more shoes or jewelry?

Madness. Why? Old traditions.
Set back the budget for 3 months, to pay off credit card debt, lest one earn the rep of a tightwad Scrooge.

Madness, I say.

I do gifts of food and necessities. Stupid shit I leave for others to spend money on. Gave my impecunious neighbor a turkey today, something that he and the family can put to good use. I don’t follow protocol for gifting, I see a need and if I can, I quietly fill it and I don’t wait for Christmas to do so.

I’m only planning on supporting “White Friday” this year. Its ok to be white. And Epstein didn’t kill himself.

White Friday is that day when one really does not have to be anywhere so he can rake some leaves and burn them, later going in for a turkey sandwich and taking a nap.

Bring all your leaves to my house and dump them in my field. They’re great for stifling Bermuda grass.

It’s seems stupid and shallow until you realize you’re low on ammo. Then not so much.
