Wounded FedEx Driver Kills Armed Robber During Shootout in Philadelphia, Police Say
A wounded FedEx delivery driver turned the tables on an armed robber who shot him, killing him during a shootout in Philadelphia, police said.
“Based on the preliminary story that was relayed it appears to be self defense: he was shot first, he fired back,” Acting Police Commissioner Christine Coulter said.
The 32-year-old FedEx driver traveled to the 600 block of Unruh Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday to make a delivery. As he walked to the home he was approached by an armed robber who stole items from his FedEx truck, according to investigators. The robber then opened fire, shooting the driver in the abdomen.
The driver, who police said was armed with his own weapon, returned fire, striking the robber several times. The injured robber managed to escape with several stolen items. Meanwhile, the injured delivery driver got into his vehicle and drove away.
The wounded FedEx driver drove to the 6600 block of Oxford Avenue where he was found by police. The officers then took the driver to Einstein Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
“We’re hopeful that he will be OK,” Coulter said.
Around the same time, police found a 27-year-old man, who they believe was the armed robber, bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds in a rear alley on the 1400 block of Creston Street. Police said the man also had several items in his possession that were stolen from the FedEx driver.
The 27-year-old man was taken to Einstein Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:27 p.m.
Police also found a vehicle on the 5900 block of Large Street that they believe was used to transport the robber after the initial shooting. Police discovered blood inside the vehicle as well as another man standing near it.
The man near the car was not injured and police don’t know at this point whether he was involved in the robbery. That man was taken into police custody and is considered a person of interest.
Police recovered the FedEx driver’s weapon, but have not yet recovered the robber’s weapon. They told NBC10 the robber’s weapon may be inside the bloody vehicle which was taken to a police garage. They plan to search through it after obtaining a warrant.
Police will also search through surveillance video from the multiple crime scenes. Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC10 they will continue to interview the FedEx driver who is cooperating with the investigation.
“I don’t know if the FedEx driver has a valid permit to carry, but that’s definitely going to be part of the investigation,” Small said.
NBC10 reached out to FedEx to determine whether their employees are allowed to carry while on the job.
“We are not at liberty to disclose details of our internal policies,” a FedEx spokesperson wrote. “All further questions should be directed to law enforcement.”
The spokesperson also told NBC10 they were aware of Tuesday night’s incident.
“The safety of our team members and service providers is a top priority and we are cooperating fully with the investigating authorities at this time,” the spokesperson wrote.

If the driver doesn’t have all the necessary permissions to protect his own life, then he could end up in serious trouble with gov’t.
I’d bet Fed Ex has a policy of no weapons and he’s likely to get fired no matter what else happens.
No entity has the right to prevent another person from carrying whatever weapon he deems necessary to protect himself. Any entity attempting to do so is tyrannical.
At least he’s lucky because of the fact that the thug bled to death. The useless POS won’t be able to tell any fairy tales about how “innocent” and “oppressed” he actually is.
yeah, but his family will still be able to sue in civil court. “he war a goo boy! he war goin’t’collage! he dindu nuffins! that mean ol’ racis’ express man warn’t suppost’be carryin’! ‘t’sall his fault!” and all that.
it’s a catch-22 for any manager. if the manager allows employees to be armed on their own recognizance, and one of them goes bonkers and shoots another company employee (very possible), then the company through the manager is at fault. if the manager prohibits employees being armed and a mass shooter comes in and kills 100 employees (unlikely), then the company and manager are not at fault. so their choice is
1) permit, the bad event is possible or even likely, and the manager’s entire career is destroyed, or
2) do not permit, a bad event is highly unlikely, and no personal damage will occur to the manager in any case
the correct choice for the manager is obvious.
There’s another option – place responsibility where it actually belongs.
Why should the manager or the company have any responsibility if an employee goes nuts? I fully realize that that’s what happens today, but that’s a learned response.
In truth, no one is responsible except for the party that did the deed. It’s the damned lawyers that have managed to convince the entire population that whom ever has some money to go after, they’re responsible.
Not the whole population.
“that’s a learned response”
it’s an enforced response.
Please elaborate.
What do you mean by enforced? Enforced by whom or what?
Ah no, that’s the current law doofus. Not how its supposed to be but how it fucking is. SAO was so promising but is so predictable. Stop living in your world of make believe how it ought to be bullshit. It does not exist and never will.
“how it ought to be” and “how it is” are both vital to dealing with the real world.
He with the deepest pockets is “responsible” in the American tort system, whether or not they are responsible in what we usually term “reality”.
The bullshit of that narrative is this….regardless of approval or not to carry…..
An asshole thats gonna shoot up his work place is gonna shoot up his workplace no matter what….
A good employee that is allowed to carry will be there when said asshole shows up and makes it a fair fight. Subduing the good employee favors the asshole and puts many more lives at risk as all gun free zones do. Change the narrative people.
“Subduing the good employee favors the asshole and puts many more lives at risk”
correct – except for the manager making the decision. for him, the risk/benefit situation is exactly reversed, so he decides for himself and against us. anyone who doesn’t eventually is forced out and replaced by someone who does. any corporation which resists this eventually is sued out of existence and replaced by one that accepts it.
and yes, this situation is deliberately pushed by the (((lawyers))) with exactly precisely this society-destroying corruption in mind.
Yep. Dude’s likely to soon be unemployed, that sucks. However, he’s alive and the Perp has been thrown out of the gene pool. What will really suck is if he doesn’t have a CCW and TPTB charge him with a crime. Self defense is a God given right and any law decreasing a persons capability to do so is wrong.
Surely he would prefer being fired vs dead….seriously people wake the fuck up
Not so sure….. Give me liberty or give me death.
A conservative business owner needs to hire him ASAP
Go fund me will likely cover his defense quite well, and likely someone will give him a job if that worthless company fires him.
The prosecutor will probably go after the FedEx driver because he is an easier “target” than the criminal who probably “knows the ropes” of the “criminal justice system”.
The FedEx driver solved that problem with a “taxpayer relief shot”…read the article the perp is dead.
The driver will likely get fired by fed ex and arrested for carrying in Philly.
Feels Good!
The 27-year-old man was taken to Einstein Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:27 p.m.
Queue irony.. I laughed out loud at that line..
Does that make me a very bad man?
That Dindu shoulda been brought to Darwin Hospital.. much moar appropriate..
No different to the Epstein hospital I guess
Epstein is a children’s hospital.
well played
Crazy shit when you don’t have a right to protect your own life.
I blame the fucking lawyers. All of them. Oh, and the filthy obscene wealth holders who control laws.
Wealth Holder Bad Man?
Anon,
Who be makin da laws? Can’t be carry’n in filthadelphia?
Bloomfuck getting anti gun laws passed and he isn’t even representing Va?
Get it together anon.
You can damn well bet Bloomie’s money is buying representatives in VA and every other state.
Donk, my less than well made comment was only to determine if you believe that simply being wealthy is bad. From some of your comments, that is the impression I get.
My next question would be, assuming that you believe that the wealthy are bad people, how much wealth does one have to accumulate to become a bad person? And as a corollary, is abject poverty
a virtue?
Anon,
You aren’t following my thoughts correctly. Wealth like power, corrupts though. Say it ain’t so, go ahead. But I would remind you that greed is one of the 7 deadly sins.
http://www.deadlysins.com/greed
Remember, $$ is a claim on resources. Your labor is a resource.
The wealth I’m talking about is the kind that can grease the wheels of injustice. The kind that can monopolize. The kind that can control destiny and the kind that can shut down avenues of opportunity. These things are happening.
I think the point is that either controlling the laws because you’re a wealth-holder, or becoming a wealth-holder because you control the laws, is bad … m’kay.
‘”wealth holders”
don’t you mean debt currency printers?
Anon above don’t git it.
Go unarmed into Northeast Philly delivering valuables? They should take field artillery set to muzzle blast.
and recon by fire ….
I am not allowed to carry @ work or have firearm/ammo in my vehicle on company property.
Last summer 2 Dindus had a shootout over a mudshark* outside my office window. Dindu1 died on scene due to headshot after crashing his vehicle a block away. Dindu2 fled and committed suicide at mudshark’s home.
I sent emails to management strongly disagreeing with their policy as it is not a safe area. I also told my wife to use those emails for lawsuit should something happen.
*Mudshark was also married to a cuck and had a child. I hope they were unaware because they looked like a nice family in pictures.
They sure sound lovely NOT
I’m guessing she had Jungle Fever while at work.
Poor guy. Now he has Dindu brains in his carpet.
Edit…I was anon above. Forgot to switch browser for TBP.
Demand a “safe space” or a “safe working environment”. The fuckin leftist love to scream about micro aggressions and force diversity training and waste millions creating a fuckin “safe working environment” where men can dress like girly faggots and feel safe doing it.
But when real safety matters companies are mum. Fuck that, demand safe spaces, steel doors, millions in security and armed personnel and when it happens and they refused, use your letter and email as proof you asked and warned them then claim discrimination, mental harm and the exact same bullshit lawsuits these faggots in dresses do with their cucked lawyers. They will pay you millions to go away like all the faggots are getting free money. Use their tactics against them. Fuck em.
It would be even funnier if the Fed Ex guy was delivering a $100,000 check …. to the robber/dead dude.
Who the hell would send $100,000 check to a Dindu?
Oh, you mean like that Clearing House guy with balloons? Except no way in hell would he personally show up at that assnuts house in person. Yep, send a FedEx guy.
“Who the hell would send $100,000 check to a Dindu?”
between welfare and drugs and robbery/fencing there is a HUGE amount of money in the ghetto.
So, the FED Ex driver was already at the Einstein ER when they wheeled in dindu to the same ER.
Hey ol’ friend, fancy meeting you here!
A lovely story with a happy ending sure, but this one warmed the cockles of my heart:
https://clarionproject.org/ny-muslim-patrol-bullied-back-bloods/
Much moar potential for all the involved partays.
Peq,
How is it these muslims can drive around with flashing lights, sirens and cars decked out to look like the popo?
Good question. Ask the NYC commissioner of police, or better, the Trotskyite mayor, Bill DiBlasio.
Someone should start a White Supremacist Patrol and do some outreach in Blasioistan.
Not doubt it would be well received!
My money is on the muzzies, bet they have several experieced shooters who will not shoot sideways.
These goat fuckers can drive cars with a decal, lights and sirens but if an American does that they get a huge financial fine, years in jail, for impersonating an officer. But these bastards run around and intimidate just like the blue line bullies. If you have an air freshener on your mirror they give you a fuckin $300 fine but these goatfuckers can do this? And we all do nothing, wont even write a letter. We deserve what we get.
I must be losing it.
I was watching an old Christmas movie last night. Something about a guy dies and some angel shows him what the world is like without him…
There is a scene at the end where the guy is holding his daughter in front of a Christmas tree as all these neighbors are pouring into his house. So, he didn’t die after all. But the tree had a little bell on it and it started to ring all by its self. The daughter says some poem as the bell finishes ringing. What I thought she said was, “Look daddy, Clarence says that ‘Every time you pull the trigger another muzzie is killed by a nigger’.
I was sleepy, maybe I misunderstood.
NBC10 should not ask if they are allowed, but why are they not all required to carry.
Fedex will cut him loose, you watch.
BB?
Oh shit, BB delivers for FedEx? And he carries.
“The 32-year-old FedEx driver traveled to the 600 block of Unruh Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia at 7:05 p.m.”
Its ok…BB is in his 50’s.
Who gives a shit if the driver had a valid permit. He used a tool exactly how it was intended to be used and he has a constitutional right to use that tool. Fed ex and the police can ear shit and die regarding the drivers rights to be armed..
FedEx is definitely against weapons on their property. A few years ago, they fought against a proposed state law that would allow employees to keep their weapons locked in their cars on property of companies that do not allow carrying. The law passed and they were pissed off big league.
If a company/government does not allow me to protect myself, they should be physically and financially responsible for my safety.
The hell with valid permits, self defence can also mean self defence against those who try and destroy the second amendment.
