“Gentlemen! I too have been a close observer of the doings of the Bank of the United States. I have had men watching you for a long time, and am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country.
When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the bank. You tell me that if I take the deposits from the bank and annul its charter I shall ruin ten thousand families. That may be true, gentlemen, but that is your sin!
Should I let you go on, you will ruin fifty thousand families, and that would be my sin! You are a den of vipers and thieves. I have determined to rout you out, and by the Eternal, (bringing his fist down on the table) I will rout you out.”
Andrew Jackson, From the original minutes of his meeting with the Philadelphia bankers, February 1834, from Andrew Jackson and the Bank of the United States (1928) by Stan V. Henkels

“I have determined to rout you out, and by the Eternal, (bringing his fist down on the table) I will rout you out.”
Guess not.
Well, he got rid of the Second Bank. He was long gone by the time the criminal banksters put the criminal Federal Reserve together. Hitler understood the crimes of the banksters and what they had done to Germany in encouraging destructive wars over the decades. He put a plan in place to rout them out too….but such actions were not part of Jackson’s plans, nor would they have been palatable to 19th century Americans.
Whatever other evils can be attributed to the guy, at least he got this one right. That he is on the $20 FRN is likely the biggest inside joke at that criminal organization.
As I see it Jackson wasn’t too fond of Indians and was a formidable man. He disliked Brits as he was slashed by an English sword as kid. More than likely when he found out the British crown was involved with the management of the National Bank it pissed him off greatly, so his vengeful and vindictive response wouldn’t be too surprising.
As a student of history I’ve questioned some of his actions but it’s through a modern lens. One has to respect his grit and commitment, though.
Indeed through the modern lens and as a student of history you’d know he was at that time the most beloved and popular president up until then. Including Washington.
What I most enjoy about the story is his fist crashing down. Jackson knew theatrics ( hence, America’s overwhelming support) and had used fits of rage to scare the same spineless congressmen then as we have today.
