I did it earlier with delivery schedules in the southern hemisphere.
ALSO, there are no existing navigational charts that will function in

can be calculated with any existing flat-earth maps or models.

should use the brain that either God, or Genetics, or Both gave you.
Have you ever proven anything yourself? or have you parroted the ideas
of other people. If you get out a simple childs ruler, and roughly check
the distances between the ports in Africa, and the Ports in Brazil where
the slaves were delivered in the beginning of the Slave Trade, you can
see the flat Earth distances are something like 30% or 50% longer. Take
the distances, and calculate them to the hull speeds of the Portuguese
Slave Ships used in the 1600s. the ships averaged around 5 knots. By archives
and actual log books with sailing times that match a Globe, quite often,
nearly half of the slaves died. When calculated for the Flat Earth Distances,
most likely, 90% of the Slaves would have died. There would have been no
Plantations, worked by Slaves, There would be no Black Brazillian Descendants
of Slaves.
But, I would suggest as your best defense,

Thanks, RiNS. As I mentioned to Maggie, the flat earthers are one of the groups on TBP that I do not agree with.
I think, like all communities, TBP is evolving and forging the way for people whose theologies and beliefs do not interfere with their basic agreement to be civil to one another perhaps figure out how to rebuild this place once the lights come back on.
Because unless we all focus our spiritual energy on setting this right, it doesn’t matter if the earth is hollow in the middle or flat as a fiddle.
I meet with some men from Church every Thursday morning and when we were leaving this morning, one of them asked all of us to pray for the country and now you are reinforcing the need. My daughter calls these type events “God things”. It IS a God thing and I will be praying for the country, her leaders and all of us who live here.

All righty! I’m going to, in detail, explain an even more exact and infallible method to prove that the earth is indeed spherical in general shape. It would cost quite a bit more and be far more difficult to do, but the basics are really simple.
I don’t care who likes or dislikes this statement; I am literally an expert in the field of technology I’m about to describe.
Gyroscopes are rigid in space. When they are up to speed, they remain exactly in their present attitude position, no matter what the gimbals and structures that hold them do. Research it, if you don’t understand, because I’m not about to try to describe years of education, training and experience to explain. If you wanna know, you’ll look it up.
At every step, we would need redundancy to eliminate any plausible failure or deception. I would even suggest at least three of everything – planes, gyro assemblies, monitoring devices, observers – to really lock in the accuracy.
So let’s just walk through one aircraft set-up.
1 aircraft. In that aircraft we put 3 autonomous gyroscopic assemblies, with their own monitoring systems and power supplies. They are to be housed in transparent housing, in order to physically observe their motion, or lack of. At least one observer from each camp, someone who is unequivocally sincere in his belief of flat or sphere. Cameras that will stream live, every movement and every monitor, including the aircraft’s own attitude electronics.
Sitting on the tarmac, everything is powered up and observed.
So far, so good.
There will be another gyro set-up on the ground at the point of departure, and another at the point that is calculated to be halfway around the world. Both with monitors and live streaming, and observers. Solidly placed and meticulously accurate.
ALL the gyros will be different colors on the top half and the bottom half.
The plane takes off, gets to altitude and heads in any direction chosen. For me, I would do the equator thing, for the sheer simplicity of it. Once stabilized in heading, altitude and speed, we watch.
What you will see is the gyros slowly altering their relation to the aircraft and gimbal structures. That is precession. Remember, the gyros are rigid in space. If they were to alter that, they would tumble and destroy themselves. As the aircraft continues on its way, the gyros and readouts will first, at half the distance to the far ground-bound gyros, be perpendicular, until, at that far point, be what appears to be upside down from the original position at the starting point. Those gyros will be 180 dgs out from the gyros on the ground at that point.
I have seen this gyroscopic behavior thousands of times, and whole fields of weapons delivery and global positioning are predicated on this very exact gyroscopic principle.

TS, Thank you for being smart… I went through detailing how and why I considered myself to be an expert on certain things and discovered what I discovered. And, yes, I did catch the occasional supportive Word from you throughout it all. So, I believe you. I was classified custodian for a weapons system training library owned by Boeing. As custodian I could look at what I needed to look at.

Just as an addendum to the experiment – if the plane continues on, straight ahead, after the 180 out observation, you will watch the gyros right themselves, only in the opposite direction, until, when you return to the original site, you will see them as they were before you took off.

Without taking a side on the flat earth vs round earth, there are some errors in his experiment … probably the biggest are:
1. he assumes, and makes it very clear several times that the sun is far away. You can reproduce his experiment in a dark room with a flat floor and a flashlight. You won’t get the same angle on two sticks setup on the floor, and you will see the angles change and differ as you move the flashlight around the room. Does this mean your floor is round? No. The key assumption for his experiment, and this is a HUGE assumption, is that the light beams hitting the two sticks are parallel (or virtually parallel) which requires the light source to be very far away.
2. he didn’t video the 2nd stick (at least I didn’t see it) so the measurement could have been anything his buddy said. There’s other trickery that could have been done, so to be really anal you’d want a GPS timestamp and location on each video with a split screen, etc.
3. Observer error – the line cast on the stick didn’t have a clear delineation, so two different people could read the same measurement differently (guess this could be rolled into #2)
You could come up with some more nits, like whether the two sticks were perfectly east-west, etc. but #1 is the biggie.
Without taking a side….

It did, however, convince me that NASA is probably a bunch of liars who fake a lot of their shit, which could be done for a lot of reasons (like give me $billions of dollars for space research so I can spend a few hundred grand on making a fake video and pocket the difference.) I can see some basis for a consensus…
You can watch the Sun and tell that it is far away. Make a piece of smoked glass and just LOOK at it over a day. When it is low in the sky it is 1/2 degree across. When it is high in the sky it is 1/2 degree across. If it were close to the Earth and just traveling around above us, it would look bigger when it was close, and smaller when it was farther away. Go anywhere on earth and watch the Sun. It stays the same size (1/2 degree) wherever you go. The only way that makes sense is if the Sun is very far away. “But Jason, the atmosphere is distorting the size of the Sun and it just miraculously happens that when the Sun is low in the sky and far away, the distortion exactly compensates!” Really? If the atmosphere magnifies the Sun then the edge of the Sun closest to the horizon should be bigger and the Sun would look egg shaped even when it was halfway up the sky. It doesn’t. Look at it yourself. It looks round. If the Sun was close, then it should appear only half as big when it was still 30 degrees above the horizon. Watch an airplane disappear into the distance. Does it get magnified and stay the same size no matter how far away it goes?
Even IF (big “IF”) there actually were some sort of optical magnification, a close Sun still does not work. Imagine you are standing by a road and a distant car is coming toward you. At first you hardly have to move your head to watch the car, but as it gets closer you have to move your head faster and as it passes you, you turn your head very fast. Watch the Sun. It moves through the sky at the same rate all day long, no matter where in the sky it is, right about 15 degrees per hour. Even if you had a magical sky magnification to make the size distort, you still would not get the constant 15 degrees. Call a friend 1000 miles away and he will observe the same 15 degree per hour motion. Will any of this convince a flat-earther? No — because they won’t look for themselves. God forbid that they should buy a small telescope and spend some time examining the Sun, the Moon, the planets and stars. Even if they did look, they would never bother to do the very, very basic math to describe what a flat Earth and nearby Sun should look like if it did, in fact, exist. Instead they think up counterfactual “explanations” and invoke magical thinking — and when those explanations don’t work they think up explanations for their explanations, and so on.
So why the flat-earth delusion? In my opinion, there are MANY demonstrably provable cases where we are lied to by The Powers That Be. 911, WMDs, Federal Reserve, computerized voting, Kennedy assassination, etc. I suspect that the flat-earth delusion is a psyops to convince people that”conspiracy theories” as a class are all equally as stupid as a flat earth.
I don’t really care one way or the other, but I find the anxiety that this discussion causes to be illuminating.
We currently live in a world where one portion of the population believes that God created man and another that believes it’s all a cosmic accident despite the fact that both origins stories begin exactly the same way. Another portion of the population can easily distinguish between men and women and another that claims men can have periods and babies and women can impregnate men. Or that living fetuses with beating hearts and fully developed skeletons and internal organs that function just fine when delivered early are just blobs of tissue that can be aborted without cause at dates later than actual live births take place and a justice system that will send people to prison for killing one if they murder the mother carrying it, but not the mother if she chooses to do the same thing.
We have so many layers of cognitive dissonance to unwrap before we can even begin to think for ourselves, so much that is unknowable no matter how hard we strive to find the truth that it almost seems pointless, and yet we do.
I don’t know if it’s flat, oblate spheroid, or a perfect globe, but I do know what a lie is and when someone gets caught in it if they are contrite or arrogant in response. The Earth is too big for any of us to really know everything about it, but we’re all humans with human experiences and it’s not impossible to sort the wheat from the chaff. I have lived my life on one end of the spectrum and found it wanting and ever since I realized the power I hold over my own behavior and intentions I have angled for the other end of the spectrum. Part of that is shutting off the sound of the deceivers and the power hungry and focusing on those souls whose humanity and goodness shines through.
Whatever that makes me, I accept it.

I take issue with the contention that both biblical and scientific origin stories are the same.
One theory contends the universe was an infinite stretch of an ultra-hot, dense material, persisting in a steady state and governed by quantum mechanics. An anomaly, perhaps a quantum fluctuation, introduced the dimension of time resulting in the Big Bang some 13 billion years ago. This is when classical physics took over as the major driver of the universe’s evolution.
The other theory contends that a supernatural being conjured the universe exactly as we see in in a six-day period six million years ago.
While neither theory can be proven, they could not be more different.

my ship was transiting the indian ocean to australia. the pilots and aircrew had flown ahead so the flight deck was empty, and I sat on the round-down on the bow, alone. the engines were a quarter mile aft so there was no sound but the wind and the bow cutting the waves, a magic carpet wafting over the sea. as the ship approached the flying fish would dart out of the water and flitter aside, hundreds of them, kicking the surface with their tails. the air was perfectly clear and the sky bright blue and filled with intermittent patchy marshmallow-white clouds, all at the same altitude. as I looked ahead I could see the cloud field curving down to the horizon, following the earth’s curvature, and disappearing beneath it. at all compass points.

Radar fundamentals. Direct line of sight. Let’s use warships at sea as an example –
Radar can detect objects a hundred miles away, straight up. It can detect aircraft a 1oo miles away if they are a few miles in the air.
So why can it not detect a ship, far more massive, a mere 30 miles away? But if you raise the radar antenna, you expand the available recognition area.
Please explain that, if the earth is flat.

Later, after the Space Shuttle disaster “reingnited” the interest in NASA, they roped off the displays in the Space Museum part and we couldn’t go near it.

Actually, if the earth is flat and the sun actually moves around the earth, then his argument goes out the window. Math is merely a trick, a function of, and/or a relationship with perspective. If someone went to the trouble of hanging a sun and a moon inside a big ole’ dome would it not be easier to make a year come out evenly so the a leap year is not needed every four years? Or is there a calendar that makes a ‘year’ come out evenly?
