A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
nkit, Austrian Peter, and Steve C.
Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.
We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.
Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.
We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.
A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.
We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.
Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony in F Major, Opus 68 – ‘The Pastoral’
We introduce our Sunday Morning Classics with Beethoven’s beautiful and soothing ‘Pastoral Symphony’.
First performed in 1808, Beethoven composed it expressly to initiate images of a peaceful natural setting and it seemed an appropriate choice for our first Sunday Morning Classics.
Sit back and prepare yourself to enjoy some of the most beautiful music ever written.
The famed “Anvil Chorus” from “ILTrovatore”, an opera by Guiseppe Verdi.
The opera premiered at the Teatro Apollo in Rome on January 19, 1853.

Translated from Italian:
See! The huge vault of heaven
discards night’s dark mantle,
like some widow who sets aside at last
the weeds in which she wrapped herself.
To work, to work!
Go to it, hammer away!
Who is it cheers the gypsy’s days?
The gypsy girl! (la zingarella)
Pour me a draught, wine lends
body and soul courage and vigor.
See, a sunbeam sparkles
more brilliant in your glass.
To work, to work!
Who is it cheers the gypsy’s days?
The gypsy girl!
In Honor Of Brexit
Edward Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance Marches – Land of Hope and Glory
Conducted by Mark Elder with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Singers, BBC Symphony Chorus – backed up by the enthusiastic & lively audience at the Royal Albert Hall, and nationwide at the Proms in the Park.
Very stirring for us true Brits!
Mi-Bemol Saxophone Ensemble
A wonderful saxophone ensemble from Japan.
You might recognize the melody as the popular song “Going Home”. It actually originates in Dvorak’s Symphony No9 “From the New World” sometimes called the “New World Symphony”.
Note the conductor siting among the performers third from the left and actually playing during the piece.
The Classic Music Mafia – Adding some class to this joint one Sunday at a time.
Heaven help us…
Brilliant entrée into our wonderful world and I do hope our family enjoy this great music and my celebration of Brexit done. Many grateful thanks to Steve C for initiating and organising it all.
When I got the idea for having a ‘Sunday Morning Classics On TBP’ I first contacted Austrian Peter as he and I had become friends thanks to TBP.
Peter wanted in so I then contacted admin to see if it was OK for us to do this and if so, would he please contact nkit and Sunday Morning Classical (SMC) to see if they wanted to join us.
Admin responded that he liked the idea and put the four of us together.
SMC had to back out temporarily due to business and family obligations, but we are hoping he will return to us when he is able. He has so much to offer our little music mafia.
Thanks for the nod, Steve. Kudos to your efforts, as well as Peter and Nkit.
The inaugural launch is excellent, and I’ll go out on a limb and predict it will grow in popularity, with fans contributing to the fun in their own unique ways.
And yes, Thx to Admin for giving it the green light.
Bravo!
It’s been a brutal week for me personally, but we all have challenges, and cope as best we know how.
This type of music helps soothe the stings and slings that life and unfortunate deaths force us to accept and deal with.
I personally expect to have more time to devote to subsequent offerings, and hope what I have to offer will be well received.
Stay tuned.
I’m an aspiring writer who can get long winded at times, but I have a few experiences, a few stories, and a few tips that might enhance the others who show an interest in this topic.
Respectfully,
S.M.C.
Go for it my man – we (I speak for the Music Mafia) are waiting with breath baited!
Congrats on taking back your sovereignty. Take that E.U.!!

Fabulous – yes indeed! Thank you nkit, we are all so proud here that, for better of worse, at least it is up to us now and we can draw closer to our great friends across the pond once again; just like the old days!
BTW, they got it wrong again, it’s the ‘Union Flag’, the ‘Union Jack’ is only when it flies from a ship!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Nice touch Steve. But to steal a line from Minnesota Fats, introducing class to this outfit is like putting whipped cream on a hot dog.
Says you CC, some of us is real classy.
I’m an unreconstructed shit flinging monkey. Fuck Beethoven.
“Fuck Beethoven”________ CC Rider
Blasphemer!
The reason Beethoven didn’t like chickens is that all he ever saw them do is strut around and utter, Bach Bach Bach.
Right. And tell Tchaikovsky the news!
Couldn’t resist it CCR!
That was great AP but then there is The Master:

OH, classic CCR, brilliant. I couldn’t find the original – well done!! Yes my man, go, Go, GO! My stuff, my era.
We are having a beautiful sunshiney day and I think that’s bad news for the Groundhog Day thing, but I’ve been so blue for some sunshine, I’ll take an extra six weeks of winter just to see the blue sky!
My heart is breaking for Stucky… If you are looking, big guy? I love you and I know how you feel.
My God… this girl is a heartbreaker!
Don’t cry for me, Argentina.
I’m OK. I promised everyone an article today … regarding Ms. Freud. Just got to the library. Will submit it in an hour, or two. It’s gonna be out of this world!
Love …..
Great listening this morning with coffee. I felt like my father was in the next room.
Wonderful selection.
In Honor of the abject failure of the Misdeeds on Display in Senate
1812 Overture by Jack Everly and the National Symphony – July 4th 2014
To celebrate the beginning of the end of the end of the beginning of the impeachment of Donald Drumpf. While popcorn sales may suffer, the vote to not call witnesses hopefully puts an end to the spectacle.
As I have gotten older I have slowly come around to enjoying classical music. I listen to this music mostly at night before going to sleep. It’s nice to hear after a long day of driving. Thanks.
THANKS Sir.
A great reminder for all the “Normal’s” to refresh reality.
Impeachment will never be over as long as the democrats are in control of the house. Once the senate votes to acquit Wednesday, the house will convene another impeachment inquiry. This time issuing subpoenas for Bolton, Mulvaney and others just to keep the stink show going.
Trump sneezed without covering all of his face. We should start impeachment for negligence, breach of duty, dereliction of duty. Hey, shhh, we can trick more sheeple into voting for us democrats if we keep this narrative going that he is so bad we had to impeach him twice. Now vote for us sheeple!
Nice addition, RiNS.
FWIW, there are a few hard rock heavy metal tunes I play loud and proud at times, pending moods.
A different genre that I believe you enjoy.
My music library and likes are all over the map, but I suspect many of us are like that.
Diverse, yet still sharing some common ground often.
~Cheers, man.
BRAVO “Music Mafia”!
At last, some worthwhile music on TBP. Thank You!
Sir Admin,
This is a wonderful treat for a Sunday morning, to complement the much anticipated grins and giggles of the Sunday Cartoons!!
Dvorak piece is a great choice rarely heard!
Tip: for the pronunciation challenged, that’s:
‘Di-Voor’s-shzock’
Similarly, Chopin: ‘Show-pahn’
Mozart: ‘Moat’s Art’
Is one of my favorite little pieces of the Moat’s Art!
I found this Youtube channel a few months ago, I think you might like it.
There actually several of these guys (and a girl) in this group that go to various airports, bus stations, and shopping malls pretending to be maintenance guys, police/security, airline pilots, etc and then sit down and play Boogie Woogie music.
It’s great to watch the reactions of people as they start to play. They’re all great fun.
Thanks for posting these StackingStock
Thank you Steve for posting a wonderful thread. Classical music mainly piano just puts me in tears, my Mom played the piano for us everyday while growing up and she’s gone now, it’s makes me think about her.
Next week – ‘Papa’ Hayden.
My Mum played piano to me too and sang soprano in the Luton Girls Choir. One regret of mine is that I never pursued the piano, which I love. I always said that I would learn to play again if I ever went blind because it allows you everlasting sight.
And now – for some boogie! That’s piano man – cool!
Oh, hell yeah!
Good toe-tappin,
finger snappin’ boogie woogie.
Great add, Peter.
I had that one already bookmarked.
Very good idea indeed… I had a lovely day listening to some of my faves in the background today!
Dvorak, “From the New World Order”, holy mackerel, they’re everywhere these globalists.
They’re all Asians. Can nCOV19 be contracted aurally?
Yep, Anon, via the mouth so stay away from them dark valleys!
Most appropriate MM thank you.
1712 Overture. Wayyyy better than the sequel.
Very good and soothing this Sunday evening, many thanks gilberts.
Regarder…ces’t tres bonne….
Merci beaucoup ma belle amie – vive la révolution anglaise!
Just trying to be politically correct, culturally diversified by providing classics from my brotha from anotha motha….(Warning explicit) essentially this is like Beethoven from another culture, really…..
I don’t know if this reflects the SMC theme, but it is Sunday and it brings joy.
Good music always brings joy.
We don’t really have any hard and fast rules – just guidelines. We want this to be fun.
We start with a carefully chosen symphony and then each of us adds a shorter piece of whatever we want. As long as it’s good.
This is good.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
It is Amadeus the pianist loves, especially on Groundhog Day!
A great idea to class the joint up!
Yes, I play it, but not nearly at this tempo.
This was wonderful. It has been a while since I listened to Classical music — too long. I enjoyed listening while I was out tending to my smoked ribs this afternoon. Thank you Steve C. for posting this today.
Last one….That Bastard Son…I just want liquor and dirty whores….
Thank you, gentlemen. It is very nice to see some real class occasionally and what a respite from the doom porn that has been covering up the interwebs as of late.
Starting in 3rd grade, the elementary school students were taken to the HS auditorium every other year to listen to a matinee performance of the OKC Symphony. Some I did not care for, but they always threw in a couple of pieces every child liked (William Tell Overture) and they introduced us to the various instruments that made up the orchestra. As I age, I have come to really appreciate orchestra music and find it quite calming.
Enjoy your re-found freedom, Peter. I am proud of Nigel that he came through for the people.
Thanks TNP: it has been a long fight, and Nigel is our hero (hated by the Establishment) but more to come methinks before this cursed festering carbuncle is completely removed from our long-suffering hide. I am reminded of King Henry II:
“What miserable drones and traitors have I nourished and brought up in my household, who let their lord be treated with such shameful contempt by a low-born cleric?” (King Henry II)
Hey, Mafia, you should do it every day, not only Sunday morning.
BTW, do you know Alice and Kristina?
Alice Sara Ott – Chopin / Waltz in A minor no. 11 (HD) Live In Paris 2015
Brahms Hungarian Dance No.5
Matej Meštrović & Expresto Live from Kerempuh
Matej Meštrović – Piano
Kristina Bjelopavlović Cesar – Piano
Most excellent LiB, thank you – I can’t get enough piano!
No Mahler?
Mahler? Nah. Try some Satie instead…or, even better….Vivaldi. Baroque at it’s best. Listen and also admire Berninni’s sculpture, he had a magical way with marble, N’est-ce Pas?
Nice, thank you MM.
I’ve been having computer problems (CPU fan had to be replaced) since Friday so I’m really just getting a chance to read this. I think it’s a wonderful idea. I’ll be listening to this later tonight. I would like to thank you guys in advance for this new segment on TBP. I know I’m going to enjoy it.
I’m just a day late…or 2. Rainy Tuesday morning, what a great way to start the day!
