“Don’t Test, Don’t Tell!”

Authored by Ben Hunt via EpsilonTheory.com,

I believe that a healthy society should not have only one voice.

– Li Wenliang, Wuhan physician, born October 12, 1986, died February 7, 2020.

Last night, I received a Twitter DM that included screenshots of an email that went out to staff at the UC Davis Medical Center. After checking for authenticity, I posted the screenshots in a tweet of my own.

And that’s when, as the kids would say, it blew up.

I want to highlight a couple of quotes from this email.

Since the patient did not fit the existing CDC criteria for COVID-19, a test was not immediately administered. UC Davis Health does not control the testing process.

The facts here are pretty clear. Patient comes in from another hospital on Wednesday, Feb. 19 – this is one week ago – already intubated and on a ventilator, and the doctors at UC Davis – who have treated other COVID-19 cases – IMMEDIATELY suspect COVID-19.

But the CDC refuses to test for COVID-19.

Why? Because it didn’t fit their “criteria” for testing. They didn’t know for sure that the patient was in mainland China within the past 14 days, and they didn’t know for sure that the patient was in close contact with another confirmed case, so BY DEFINITION this patient can’t possibly have COVID-19. No test for you!

This is “Don’t Test, Don’t Tell” and it is the single most incompetent, corrupt public health policy of my lifetime.

And it’s happening all over the country.

Here, take a look at yesterday’s press conference from Nassau County, Long Island.

Excruciating. They spend the first five minutes of the presser congratulating each other. Then the update: 83 people are in self-quarantine at home, where they are supposed to “check their temperature” daily. Don’t have a thermometer? Not to worry! The Nassau County Health Commission will provide one for you!

Who are the 83 in self-quarantine? Why, they’re everyone that Homeland Security says should be in self-quarantine, based on “current guidelines” of someone who was in mainland China within the past 14 days.

Has it been 15 days since your mainland China visit?

Have you been to Northern Italy in past 14 days?

Have you been to Iran in past 14 days?

Have you been to South Korea in past 14 days?

Well, no self-quarantine for you! You’re fine!

And here’s the kicker. Not only is there ZERO tracking or monitoring of anyone who has been swimming in the coronavirus stew of South Korea, Northern Italy and Iran, but let’s say that you have in fact been to one of those areas recently and now you’re feeling sick. You go to the doctor and you tell her the whole story. Both of you suspect it might be COVID-19. You’re trying to do the right thing here. You call the county health authority. You call the state health authority. You call the CDC. And then you learn the awful truth of Don’t Test, Don’t Tell.

It’s not that testing is not available…It’s that testing is not ALLOWED.

I’m not panicked. I am perfectly calm.

But I am really, really pissed off.

Because here’s the other quote from the UC Davis email that I’d like you to pay close attention to:

When the patient arrived [Wednesday], the patient had already been intubated, was on a ventilator, and given droplet protection orders because of an undiagnosed and suspected viral condition. … On Sunday, the CDC ordered COVID-19 testing of the patient and the patient was put on airborne precautions and strict contact precautions.

Translation: for four days, every healthcare professional treating this patient at UC Davis was exposed to airborne transmission of COVID-19. And so was every healthcare professional at the hospital before UC Davis. Because the CDC refused to test this patient for COVID-19 in a timely manner, the doctors and nurses and technicians caring for this patient were put at risk.

Sure enough:

We are asking a small number of employees to stay home and monitor their temperature.

This is the part of the story that we must yell at the top of our lungs.

Don’t Test, Don’t Tell is not just hiding the true extent of COVID-19 cases in the United States.

Don’t Test, Don’t Tell is not just perpetuating the politically corrupt “Yay, Containment!” narrative of this White House.

Don’t Test, Don’t Tell is endangering the lives of our doctors and nurses.

Just like in China.

Just like in Wuhan.

A city falls when its healthcare system is overwhelmed. A city falls when its national government fails to prepare and support its doctors and nurses. A city falls when its government is more concerned with maintaining some bullshit narrative of “Yay, Calm and Competent Control!” than in doing what is politically embarrassing but socially necessary.

That’s EXACTLY what happened in Wuhan. More than 30% of doctors and nurses in Wuhan themselves fell victim to COVID-19, so that the healthcare system stopped being a source of healing, but became a source of infection. At which point the Chinese government effectively abandoned the city, shut it off from the rest of the country, placed more than 9 million people under house arrest, and allowed the disease to essentially burn itself out.

And so Wuhan fell.

The disaster that befell the citizens of Wuhan and so many other cities throughout China is not primarily a virus. The disaster is having a political regime that cares more about maintaining a self-serving narrative of control than it cares about saving the lives of its citizens.

We must prevent that from happening here. From happening anywhere. Yes, containment has failed. But that does NOT mean the war is lost. We can absolutely do better – SO MUCH BETTER – for our citizens than China did for theirs.

The CDC’s Don’t Test, Don’t Tell policy came crashing down last night. So did Trump’s “buh, buh the flu” and “Yay, Containment!” narratives.

Now let’s get to work preparing for the fight to come.

Not in panic. Not in fear. But with resolve, sacrifice and righteous anger for those who would use us instrumentally for their own political ends.

Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can’t lose.

It’s disturbing that Buttgig has made a name for himself. He is a name on the national stage, no doubt. I don’t understand why Christians can look at the Crusaders and Conquistadors and not think, ‘That’s God’s will, which gives me an idea.’ Can’t look at Emperor Constantine reuniting the Roman Empire with war and not think, ‘Hey, maybe it would be good to take care of business like that today.’ No. Grrrrl power is the important thing. Elevating other colors is the important thing. Being all together no matter what is the important thing. You dehumanization will be televised.

New England Journal of Medicine: Coronavirus Could Be No Worse than Flu

An editorial published Friday in the New England Journal of Medicine speculated that the coronavirus currently causing panic in world markets could turn out no worse than “a severe seasonal influenza” in terms of mortality.

YUP, never mind that the goal is to keep people from panicking so lots of government controlled hacks will be pushing the ‘don’t worry’ agenda. Just keep telling yourself that it’s no worse than the flu and ignore what’s happening in Italy, Korea, China and Iran….Americans are special and immune from coronavirus, why bother to test, it’s only the flu…..

Isn’t it odd that the same CDC that doesn’t test for said virus and tells the Americans not to worry is also issuing alerts for travel to Iran because of widespread community transmission or the corona virus which is doubly odd especially since it’s only the flu….right?

Instead of the propaganda puff piece from the New England Journal of Medicine, perhaps another article from the same journal that actually examined documents from corona virus patients in Wuhan would be in order.

The investigation revealed that the median age of the afflicted was 47. It also revealed that without medical intervention that included IV antibiotics, oxygen and a host of other treatments, many more would have died. The median stay in hospital was twelve days.

Now, let us consider how vulnerable hospitals would be should there be large groups of infected all seeking treatment at once. Think the hospitals would be overwhelmed? Those who continue to state that this is only the flu are very short sighted and refuse to take other extenuating circumstances into consideration.

“STUDY OUTCOMES
The primary composite end point was admission to an intensive care unit (ICU), the use of mechanical ventilation, or death. These outcomes were used in a previous study to assess the severity of other serious infectious diseases, such as H7N9 infection.16 Secondary end points were the rate of death and the time from symptom onset until the composite end point and until each component of the composite end point.

The median duration of hospitalization was 12.0 days (mean, 12.8). During hospital admission, most of the patients received a diagnosis of pneumonia from a physician (91.1%), followed by ARDS (3.4%) and shock (1.1%). Patients with severe disease had a higher incidence of physician-diagnosed pneumonia than those with nonsevere disease (99.4% vs. 89.5%).

From your linked article:

CONCLUSIONS
During the first 2 months of the current outbreak, Covid-19 spread rapidly throughout China and caused varying degrees of illness. Patients often presented without fever, and many did not have abnormal radiologic findings. (Funded by the National Health Commission of China and others.)

DISCUSSION
…Despite the number of deaths associated with Covid-19, SARS-CoV-2 appears to have a lower case fatality rate than either SARS-CoV or Middle East respiratory syndrome–related coronavirus (MERS-CoV)

And, yet, see what’s happening around the world. Like I said before, perhaps the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

And advertising works.

Ask yourself how you would feel if the headlines were all exclaiming COVID’s 98% survival rate.

And perhaps an even better question is why the headlines are NOT exclaiming COVID’s 98% survival rate, ya know? Why?

Therefore, what is the real propaganda here?

2: the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person

3: ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one’s cause or to damage an opposing cause

About 5% of infectees die, at best, not 2% – based on the Korean numbers from a few days ago. It could be higher than 5%, because we’re not certain if the deaths are coming from the prior cohort or the one before that. It might be lower than 5%, because they may find a large number of asymptomatic cases that never get worse. It won’t be fully clear for a while.

Ignore the data from China, it’s pure fantasy. The Chinese have decided to sacrifice a chunk of their populace to prop up their economic numbers. Watch South Korea, they’re the only country currently being serious about testing and open about the results.

This is going to end up being one of those hysterical stories that don’t hold up.

1 .Why would CDC, Pres. Trump, the WHO or all the Medical personnel all across the country condone this apparently official policy of not testing? Are they all in cahoots to lead citizens into a false sense of security? Why?
2. What are the guidelines for testing for the virus? Who made them? Are they reasonable?
3. How do we know people with obvious Coronavirus aren’t being tested all over the country? He lists 4 examples.
4. Is this a massive conspiracy by the government, the medical profession, CDC to make sure people aren’t prepared for a disastrous pandemic?

Interestingly, the rate of contamination in China is already going down so their efforts at containment are working, plus Google Map shows the awful pollution getting better because so many people are inside. I am not holding China up as a role model for disease control, they didn’t give out timely information, allow international help with containment, and they were customarily brutal to their citizens.

I do not believe anything that approaches this level of ‘’Rage” while encouraging us to do something without suggesting what we should do. Also, I am also pretty careful about hysterical conspiracy theories that blame Pres. Trump. The dems have already been saying they think this will be his Katrina. Theirs are the hands you hear clapping with glee.

2. What are the guidelines for testing for the virus? Who made them? Are they reasonable?

I posted the following long ago:

The reason there are no new cases in the US of people having tested positive for the virus is obvious if you know where to look. The answer Is hiding in plain sight and as a matter of fact is right there on the CDCs web page.

You’re not going to get anyone testing positive for the virus IF NO ONE IS TESTED. it’s that simple. Look at the criteria for testing someone for the virus, First they have to have the appropriate symptoms, OK good so far, next they MUST have either recently traveled to china OR have known contact with someone who recently traveled to China. Otherwise they will not be tested.

So let’s say someone has the virus but has no idea how they got it, and are showing all the symptoms of having the virus but they haven’t traveled to China and have no contact with anyone from china, they will NOT BE TESTED and so obviously NOT COUNTED.

Take a look for youself.

The population of my north central Florida county is 145,000. Nearly 40% are over aged 65. Between two hospitals in the county there are 332 beds.

According to the CDC, every year 15-30% of the US population gets influenza, “the flu.” Covid-19 is supposedly many times more contagious and by estimating just a 10% Covid-19 infection rate, approximately 14,500 county residents would be infected.

Again, according to world monitoring, approximately 13% of Covid-19 cases become ‘severe’ with pneumonia and require hospitalization, and an additional 6% become ‘critical’, requiring intensive care.

If a total of 19% require hospitalization this means approximately 2,700 people (14,500 infected x 19%) in my county would at some point require direct medical care where there are only 332 beds. Granted, not all would fall ill at the same time, but the demands would still put significant pressure on the medical system.

If the infection rate were 20% the strain on medical services here would be enormous, very likely unmanageable. There’s no way to know ‘if’ this virus will be contained and these numbers reflect why it’s critically important to mitigate the potential spread as much as possible.

If you live in a smaller county, Google the stats on local hospitals and the total number of beds available. It’ll give some idea of the potential difficulties the system could face dealing with an outbreak.

According to the AHA 2015 annual survey, the United States had 4862 acute care registered hospitals; 2814 of these had at least 10 acute care beds and at least 1 ICU bed. These hospitals had a total of 540,668 staffed beds and 94,837 ICU beds (14.3% ICU beds/total beds) in 5229 ICUs.

https://www.sccm.org/Communications/Critical-Care-Statistics

Statistics from 2018 show an increase:

” Total Staffed Beds in All U.S. Hospitals: 924,107″

https://www.aha.org/statistics/fast-facts-us-hospitals

The more recent stats do not have a breakdown for ICU beds, but if the percentages in 2015 hold true and 14.3 percent of beds are ICU beds, then there are approximately 132,147 beds.

Which translates to 1 ICU bed for every 2500 people.

Overall beds . . . 1 bed per 350 people.

That is, (divide total beds by total population of 325 million) there are enough beds for .00284 percent of the population.

Assuming that they are empty. But for the last ten years, occupancy has hovered around 65 percent.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/185904/hospital-occupancy-rate-in-the-us-since-2001/

So . . . (total beds x .35) there are enough beds for 323,437 people, or .000995 percent . . . 1 bed per thousand people, +/-.

I’ve seen this level of ineptitude before. (High ranking military leaders tend to come from connected families, like McCain, for example. They are not always the best, brightest or most ethical.) My husband and I were talking about how angry incompetent commanders could get if proven wrong in front of their “inferiors.” They would sacrifice troops to salvage their pride.

I see a bit of that going on in a lot of people in leadership positions now. They will distance themselves from the virus and the bad decisions. Evil always survives.

“Evil always survives.” Is that fatalism or defeatism? The good men can do nothing? We just die at the whim of evil? You’re just gonna leave your comment on that maxim? Well, those Indians are kinda scary, and the bears, and there’s so many trees in the way. Let’s go back to Europe and surrender.

If the bureaucratic perverts are not hostile, they’re inept. Most conservatives give them too much credit at planning. Can Joe Biden plan? Any planners are very elite and not usually on TV. Even so, they don’t give exact marching orders. They give narrative templates as orders. Those templates apply to killing us and are independent of good governance or any administrative excellence. They have focus and pretend they are just like us. So yah, safe bet I’d say. The precedence for more government control is what scares me. This get them closer to rounding us up to take our guns. Bureaucracy expands. The common denominator is hate of the men who made the West. I aspire to appear uncivilized in public to avoid attack.

What I think would be great if we whipped up a mob action. First the holders of the virus patents, bill gates of course, selected lab/university wimps that work with viruses all put under scrutiny for ‘negligence’ causing murder and mayhem.
It’s important to name names and accuse individuals.

They don’t actually have to be brought to trial just forced to talk (they’ll implicate themselves because they’re psychos), and maybe even fear for THEIR lives.

I’m not famous, or on twitter. Who could make this viral? Little sick joke.
One wonders why no blame has been openly attached to the direct cause- messing with this stuff in the first place.

You speak of reintroducing shame into our vocabulary. Great first step.

Well, that would help but they’re shameless. I was thinking more of payback and driving them back under a rock where they at least won’t be so open about wanting us all dead.

I like how you are thinking outside the morality box. I don’t think we can organize effectively without the police getting violent. Instead, recede into the woodwork and let the victim’s groups kill each other. The Republican Party is undead and functional only because Trump is Trump. The Democrat Party is reformulating and may not survive the process. There is no white-man middle class to feed upon. The middle class is bureaucrats. #MeToo is a milestone for infighting. White men can’t hide behind Leftist shibboleth, not even with a record of campaign financing and control of propaganda capital! This process is organic. They must destroy themselves. They agree to destroy us first. First evade. I know that’s an ideal that not always possible. I would not want to draw attention to myself unless there were some personal necessity. This system is corrupt to the core. This is a system of humans, a matrix of humans. Not worth saving. Save yourself and you’ve done well in my book.

Nice quote from Friday Night Lights however I am concerned this ball game was lost before anyone new it was scheduled !
The fact we were depending on information from the Chi-Coms and then we were depending on the ineptness Of world health and other national and international government controlled sources the facts took a flying leap off a bridge in Wuhan !
Ahh yes Wuhan where the Chi-Coms military bio weapons research lab exists outside of town !
Time to drop back 10 yards and punt on this one !
Sure most reasonably healthy people will probably recover however there is a second wave to this that is not being broadcast . You can get it a second hit with this virus and you end up in cardiac arrest killing you in the second round !
We can never believe anything our government tells us “NOTHING”

I think your right. It is part of our world, an ecology. Either a vaccine or cure will be provided or it won’t be. What the state scum can do is not let a crisis go to waste. I will continue to use the word ‘domestication’. At this point what can government officials say that brings us salvation, or even mere preparedness. Tune in to Tokyo Rose for further details. I am only a cursed voice in the wind. Shwoooosh, whhaaaoaoosh, whaa, whoo-whoo, shwaaaa…0110001100110

My take on this, as if anyone cares, is TPTB know the sheeple will go bat shit crazy if this turns out to be a bad pandemic. TPTB still don’t know for sure how bad this may or may not be so there trying to let off steam slowly versus having the boiler explode. Spring is almost here in the Northern Hemisphere. Sunshine and heat will help lay this virus down until the fall, buy us some time. If this is truly the “Booger Man” some make it out to be TS will really HTF next fall winter. I’m no prepper, but I’m always prepared, was taught to be that way. Stocked up on hand sanitizer and some extra canned food a month ago. I’ve always kept several flats of water on hand and have several 5 gallon containers of water stored. First aid, blow out kits and firearms and adequate ammo are normal in my house and vehicles. People like us are Semper Paratus, the Sheep, 95% of the population according to Lt. Col. Grossman, never will be. The Costco Hoarding videos speak for themselves, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot??? Is the infatuation with TP Beavis? It’s not yet Armageddon or the Zombie Apocalypse so in the words of Sergeant Hulka, “ lighten up Francis”. Be aware but don’t go “full retard”.

From Zero Hedge — “Silver Linings Playbook: 119 People Quarantined In A Brothel In Spain”

SEE, there’s a bright side to everything.

Here’s a story of brothel in Spain where one of the “Working Girls” has tested positive for coronavirus and the place is now under quarantine including 85 “Customers”

Hell if you have to be locked up for a couple weeks… What a way to go!

I wish I could think that way. I don’t want anything I don’t know is clean, and for that I need ownership. Ignorance is bliss. I’m sure some men roll the dice and win the good life, such as can be had in decline. “I don’t need no fancy types__, I needs the ones that’s clean. Hey, baby!” I don’t know why the Christians here are not staunch supporters of patriarchy, unless they are not really what they say they are.

Roger that. I still wish I could think like that way that you and I don’t think. When you stop to think about the quality of men and women but particularly the formerly sexy sex of one’s instinctive choice, FUBAR. I’m not good at light. Just the occasional too-true joke. I’ll try to read in humorous tone more often. EC comments that way.

If you have to resort to that place you have problems as big or bigger than this virus. However, one must always remember that if there is a supply there must be a demand for it to exist. If you’re one of the customers caught in there and you’re married…my brother the Cop would call that a bad fact.

You know, some married men have ‘hand’. Women will accept an unfaithful man, just not a powerless man. Ya, I know, sometimes. If the man is sufficiently powerful, he has five wives like Charlemagne. “According to accounts from the period, Charlemagne went on to be a devoted father to his own 18 (or more) children, whose mothers were among his various wives and concubines.” Again, turn to the good parts of your Bibles. You guys are so self-defeating.

And now muh Lord’s hero: “Constantine himself had two wives: Minerva (or Minervina), who bore Constantine his firstborn child, Crispus; and Fausta, the daughter of the previous Western emperor who bore him three sons. In 326, Constantine put Crispus and Fausta to death—an episode that has attracted much speculation but few definitive answers. ” Muh Lord works in muh mysterouz ways, and I haves the blood free hands.
