‘Liberal Arts Degrees’ Renamed ‘Non-Essential Worker Degrees’

Via The Babylon Bee

U.S.—More colleges across the country have been renaming their liberal arts degrees “non-essential worker degrees” in a bid to be more honest about what exactly the course of study entails.

“We wanted to be a little more honest about what you can expect from a liberal arts program — sorry, a non-essential worker program,” said Charles C. Kettlebrook, Dean of Winstonhamington University in Philadelphia. “Whenever people need to be sent home, to be frank, you’ll be the first to go. It will be kind of nice for you, sometimes, actually, since you’ll get to stay home and collect a check from the government instead of going out and being productive.”

The colleges confirmed that nothing has changed in the actual studies being offered by the liberal arts programs, but now they can’t be sued for false advertising. “You’ll know right from the get-go that the pottery, French literature, or zero-gravity space station basket weaving classes you’re taking are completely useless and non-essential.”

If colleges and universities were forced (by the inherent pressures of the free market – if we had one) to charge what students and their parents could ACTUALLY afford, there would not be a problem. They NEED students, and for every 10% drop in prices, more students would be able to afford to attend. Simple economics. And this would be the case if there were NO federally guaranteed student loans, NO violence-funded government grants, NO tax-deferred savings accounts, NO government backdoor grants, aid, etc.

If parents and students found themselves still in need of loans to pay for college costs, they would be forced to go to banks or others who would evaluate their worthiness based on a variety of criteria that would be targeted at the nature of the loan. If secured by a home or other real property, the criteria would be far looser, but if 100% secured by the likelihood of employment in the future, the degree, past academic record, quality of the school, graduation and placement history of the school, etc. would all likely play a role.

Gender studies, African-American studies, Adventure Education, Sexuality Studies (a minor for nearly ALL college students), Surf Science and Technology, Queer Musicology (UCLA – no shock), and others, would NEVER get you a loan, or would come at such high interest rates that it would be unworkable.

Liberal Arts degrees, as a generic degree, were not a bad idea in principle. A century ago, people actually went to college simply to get a higher education that rounded out their learning. It was not about training for a profession (except medicine, law, etc.) and was about making you a better, more educated person, while apprenticeships, etc. were the real training for life, employment, etc. But the point of the article for today’s college, is right on the money.

If you are so stupid to waste four or five years and at least $200K on a degree that will not afford you the required entrance into the work force then no one needs you. This includes the regiments of illegal labor cleaning homes and doing yard work for your parents. Got it?

Illegals entering our country and taking low skilled labor jobs are a true plague upon our nation and it’s youth . I recall the job sites suddenly there were no high school grads or college students doing the grunt or gopher work .
Everywhere you look a gang of 5 foot nothing brown people were all over the place . Where were the American kids home playing xbox .
So government failed to see the jobs for Americans filled by Americans earning money for college or work experience but never fear our Congress critters funded loan programs for college .
Now they are in debt with a degree in lesbian studies and a minor in ancient cultures use of mud and home playing xbox?
