The government can only give xyz amount based on the length of the lockdown. Like us, the government wasn’t planning for an economic pause lasting 4, 8 perhaps even 12 weeks in some places. $1200 was the right amount at that time, and if we remain in lockdown for another month long period, I’m sure they would assess that too. If you start giving out higher amounts, we have 90% of the population getting a check higher than their income – I honestly don’t see the basis for something like that to happen.

Unless the mortgages/loans are portfolio ed (I.E. held by the originating banks in question); then it is absolutely impossible to just send the outstanding amount plus interest to the backside of the loan. Most of these loans were already packaged up and sold on the open market; with definitive rates of return and payment schedules. You can’t just modify these contracts as they are set. Maybe, if your auto loan or mortgage was through your local credit union, you might be able to work something out; as these banks typically hold onto the debt and collect payment/interest to term. Everything else…. No dice; you are going to have your vehicle repossessed or your house go into foreclosure.
Well, now….what happens if EVERYONE defaults on those loans? Asking for a friend.
My Mortgage is with a bank, and if bank then makes a side deal afterwards, it’s still their problem.
Every loan could be refinanced with no payments for the first 90 days and the term extended 3 months at the end. New loan documents. New (lower) interest rates based on current rate environment. Old loans paid off. It could be easily done if TPTB wanted to do it. It’s not that hard.

1) straight away he fucks up by saying the $1200 is the taxpayer money given back to them. Umm, no, the govt is largely run on borrowed money, and the $1200 is additional borrowed money. It is entirely borrowed. Americans do not understand that they are a welfare nation, and have borrowed their way into the abyss. This guy seems to be blissfully unaware of that.
2) I have no problem with the rest of what he says, as it was a great rant. He is particularly right about the banks.
The borrowed money increases the money supply. Monetary inflation devalues currency units which already exist. The government did not confiscate a portion of the dollars in your pocket via conventional taxation, but instead stole a portion of their purchasing power. This is taxation by stealth.
Since these loans bear interest, there are never enough dollars in the money supply to defray both principal and interest without creating new loans. This is usury.
And at the day’s end it is the tax payer who collateralizes these loans.
We’re so screwed.

I am amazed that folks did not pick up on the “it is our money” crap. I mean seriously, American taxes only cover around 60% of what is spent by the govt, and only a tiny fraction of what is being promised to be spent.
