in NY, they have these brand new electronic signs installed every 5 miles or so, with happy messages like:
Stay home
stop the spread
Save Lives.
or
Flatten the Curve.
They had these plans in place for years,
you don’t just go out an deploy these million dollar networked signs, with cameras and other sensors, for the flu.
The other very interesting point:
they have closed all the toll booths, there might be a few booths out of 20 at a big exit (I90&I87) with some people in them, but they are in full PPE and they are not accepting cash.
The signs tell you to just drive through, if you have easy-pass, no issue, if you don’t, you will get a bill in the mail.
Implications:
1. all these toll booth workers are not getting their jobs back, maybe a few, to clean toilets, etc.
2. if you have fake plates, or didn’t pay you insurance, you will be getting pulled over, before the next exit.
I watched it happen today, driver in a hoopty was pulled over, wasn’t speeding, just got on the thruway, and the state troupers were on him like glue, so beware, automation of interstates is being rolled out,
and if you think this is something that just happened because muh-muh-muh-my corona hit the top of the charts, you must be a mask wearing Karenista. This shit has been in the planning stages for years, all the infrastructure to pull this off, has been built over the last 10 years, they just made the final move.
Soon, you will need to file a “travel plan” to go from NY to FL, and you will need a special pass, that tells authority that you are essential, and do not have cooties.
I really thought they would be a little more subtle about this, like offering the voters a chance at the ballot,
but they are just shoving this shit down our throats, with out even a tinker’s cuss for the common man.

Actually it’s was being built 20 years ago, and was in place 10 years ago. If you mentioned it to anyone, you were called a conspiracy-kook, and — as with all tracking, surveillance, warrantless searches & seizures, etc — were met with “Well, if you’re not doing anything wrong …”
Sort of reminiscent of a movie I saw:

They’ve been doing that “bill-in-the-mail” thing for a while on I-89 in NH or MA, I forget. What I didn’t forget was the couple-dollar service charge tacked on to the toll. Then I have to pay for a stamp, of course, but that at least supports the USPS.
The bill-in-the-mail thing enriches some political crony’s company and, in my case, more than doubled the toll.
What’s not to like?
I guess all the toll-takers are just going to have to LEARN TO CODE!
This is more than the Gubermint killing the economy, it’s the 2020 version of THE FINAL SOLUTION. AH would be proud…..
