SUNDAY MORNING CLASSICS ON TBP

A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
SMC, nkit, Austrian Peter, and Steve C.

Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.

We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.

Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.

We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.

A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.

We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

Berlio’s “Symphonie Fantastique”

The Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France conducted by Myung-Whun Chung performs Berlioz’s “Symphonie fantastique”.

Live recording on September 13th 2013 at the Salle Pleyel (Paris)

00:35 1st movement: Rêveries – Passions. Largo – Allegro agitato e appassionato assai – Religiosamente

15:08 2nd movement: Un bal (A Ball) . Valse. Allegro non troppo

39:53 4th movement: Marche au supplice. Allegretto non troppo

00:00 5th movement: Songe d’une nuit de sabbat. Larghetto – Allegro

P.I.Tchaikovsky: Capricho Italiano op. 45 – Sinfónica de Galicia

Jesús López Cobos – director

By Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia. The Orchesta was created in 1992 and is Spanish.

Tchaikovsky is of course, the most popular Russian composer of all time. Born 5-7-1840 and he died 11-6-1893. His cause of death to this date is still disputed. Some claim he died from cholera from drinking unboiled water at a restaurant, while others attribute his death to suicide. There are others that claimed he died from smoking and alcohol consumption. The truth is unknown and probably always will be.

So, without further comment:

8) This one is for my Bud Co2!

THE DECLINE – A PUNK ROCK SYMPHONY
Special project for the 15th anniversary of THE DECLINE by NOFX.

“THIS IS PUNK ROCK” : This is a “DIY” project.

BAZ wrote a special orchestral arrangement for this punk rock masterpiece and
gathered 50 musicians to play it live, once, and totally for free.

Just for the cause.

Edit by RiNS:

A piece that is quite apropos to current shit show 🙂

THANKS Loads sirs!!
Think on this.
The genius of the composers to get all the compositions mixing all the instruments done so wonderfully has been reproduced in most all of the civilized world now since 1800!!
All the manufacturing of the very complex instruments and the talents of the musicians over the centuries around the world enduring and thriving!!

A special thanks to you for these selections, and Sir Admin for providing the platform. Another tiny stipend enroute to Admin.
