CRISIS?

Did you know the Feds are giving $39,000 to hospitals for every COVID-19 reported death?

Considering they decided, unwisely, to stop seeing any patients that actually MAKE them money, their only choice is to get money this way. When this shit is over (relatively speaking anyway) I don’t know where their revenue will come from as I believe many people will avoid hospitals in general.

I’m not so sure she is being genuine around 17:20 when she tells us she “grew up really poor” and she “knows what it’s like to be completely forgotten and not have anyone to advocate for you.”

Bullshitters always tell you they come from humble beginnings as a credibility builder.

Do you think that just might encourage the hospitals to stretch the truth? Gosh, I am so cynical.

Hmm 2017-2018 45 million cases with 61K deaths my math… mortality rate 1/10 of 1%
currently we have 1.2 million cases with the same number of deaths mortality rate +/- 5%
so if we had the usual (average number of cases over the past 10 years 27 million), we would yield 1.35 million deaths
take off the tinfoil hat,
skip the politics, do the math

Do more math with “modeled”, estimated, suspect, or outright fake numbers. Flu cases are estimates. Flu deaths are even estimates (what happened to the 80,000 that used to be reported to convince people to get flu shots?).
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/
39k highly suspect deaths (see the title of the post) and unknown or onknowable cases. In other words, dubious best case for cases divided by dubious worst case for cases. Math don’t lie; but, GIGO.

that’s some awful math OP. try again. also the math is kind of pointless if you don’t also include testing/total tests.

It’s 13k for a covid patient and 39k for a ventilator patient. So they get more even if it kills them by putting them on a ventilator.

You were right gman. $39k for a Covid-ventilated patient is reasonable- it is very costly and involved. Average length of Ventillation is 4 days, that is continuous care and monitoring, the intubation procedure, some get feeding tubes directly into stomach for nutrition ( another procedure), labs, IV fluids for hydration, bowels clean-up, skin integrity checks and care, turning for pressure relief, testing and on-call emergency physicians.. the hospital probably loses money on each intubated patient if it is a flat $39k for the weeks in a facility with 24/7 care.

They are already being paid by insurers, etc. The $39K is a BONUS.

“not really a binary choice”

in theory, no it’s not. in practice it most certainly is.

see, the sociopathic right will pay only for what they individually personally use, when they use it, in the exact amount that they choose to use it – not one dime more or less, not one second earlier or later, not one other person before or after. “me, now.” but a hospital can’t run that way. so they won’t have hospitals. or just about anything else above the level of a 13th century village.

and here’s the kicker. they won’t notice.

gman’s comment is easily identified as logical fallacy.

gman comment = False Dichotomy. Intertwined with that, gman also attempts to change the topic from one of fraudulent “billing” by way of major conflicts of interest, to a false dichotomy revolving around economics.

this is a cute picture, but with no real hard links to sources, it’s not very useful in convincing anyone who needs convincing.

there’s a deep irony in a picture just saying “WE’RE THE REAL DATA” with no links to the actual data.

Year Month Number of Deaths
2018 April 233,000
2018 March 249,000
2018 Feb 237,000
2018 Jan 287,000
…………….1,006,000

There were 1,006,000 deaths in the first four months of 2018

United States – Historical Death Rate Data
Year Death Rate ——Growth Rate
2019 8.782 —— — 1.12%
2018 8.685 ——– —1.22%
2017 8.58————-1.24%

The problem is I can’t find the number of YTD 2020 deaths (actual count, not rate per 100,000) anywhere.
I don’t know how the media can write articles that says we are increasing, when I can’t source the 2020 numbers.

“I don’t know how the media can write articles that says ….”

Well, there’s your problem. You left out a presumed “legitimate” in between the words ‘write’ and ‘articles’. The media doesn’t write legitimate articles (i.e., articles based on legitimate information, facts, reasoning, etc). That’s not their job.

As for a source (if they bother with them) it’s some credentialed jackass’ guesstimate that comports with what the article’s trying to convince you of.

From what I understand, medicare gives hospitals 19 thousand for every Covid patient and 39 thousand if they go on a ventilator, which kills over 80% of them.

From the National Vital Statistics System:

New ICD code introduced for COVID-19 deaths.

This email is to alert you that a newly-introduced ICD code has been implemented to accurately capture mortality data for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) on death certificates.

Should “COVID-19” be reported on the death certificate only with a confirmed test?

COVID-19 should be reported on the death certificate for all decedents where the disease caused or is assumed to have caused or contributed to death.

Read that again, if it’s “assumed” Covid is the cause of death, it’s Covid.

And hospitals receive more $ from the fed for every Covid death….

According to Politifact:

“There isn’t a Medicare diagnostic code specifically for COVID-19. Using payment rates for similar respiratory conditions, Kaiser estimated the average Medicare payment at $13,297 for a less severe hospitalization and $40,218 for hospitalization in which a patient is treated with a ventilator for at least 96 hours.”

It is simply a bad flu at worst. Old people die it has been happening for centuries. Old people in nursing facilities are by definition so sick they can not take care of themselves. Nursing homes are simply holding facilities for those waiting to die. Sad but true.

To me the greatest insult isn’t that the 90+% low or very low risk are being controlled, imprisoned, or otherwise restricted; it’s that the 10-% very high risk in nursing homes aren’t being protected, are being recklessly infected and die.

On the one hand, not being allowed to assume risk and see loved ones in one’s waning days. On the other hand, even if you want to be isolated and secure from the virus, negligent jackasses (i.e., employees, NOT visitors) are bringing the infection to the most vulnerable whether they assume risk or not (which, of course, is no longer their choice in the USSA).

A back asswards policy of curtailing the liberty of the low-risk ostensibly for the benefit of the high-risk while simultaneously f*^%ing up the protection of the high risk (because that’s NOT their focus).

Good point. I pointed this out about 2 months ago here on TBP.

1957 was worse. 116,000 deaths in a population 175 million. The equivalent of 215,000 deaths in the U.S. today with 330 million.

Everyone’s list of top five things that occurred in these years obviously includes the shutdown of the national economy, the lockdown of the citizenry, the abolition of Constitutional rights, the +/-20% overnight increase in national debt to fund massive bailouts of favored industries, the soon-to-be catastrophic devaluing of the dollar, the beginnings of the second and third “Great Depressions”, and the implementation of intensive plans for further totalitarian controls.

At least, that’s what I remember from my highschool history class. Don’t you?

Talk about a horrible incentive. This is as bad as paying Wyatt Earp to kill the ” bad guys”(any old guy, really).
Considering the patient can’t pay to get well, it’d be more profitable to intubate and kill em.
