On one Fourth of July day the Old Man pulled out his bolt action .22LR Marlin and set up ground targets in the back yard. I never forgot that. My weird Uncle Sam gave me a beatup M16A1, and later on an M16A2. Sam also gave me a brief moment LARPing with the M24 poking holes in stuff on a makeshift SF range in the boonies.
Sent two of my three to private military school to become newly minted officers and hoping they pay it forward to theirs, too.

Don’t forget the clips(Old school for magazines), you don’t want to be reloading in the middle of a storm.
Maglula and Uplulas for all us arthritic old fuqueres. What about stuff that uses clips? SKS, military bolt guns, FN 49’s etc. I wish I had strippers for the AR mags that are like the SKS/AK strippers. The little tabs will break off the GI strippers if you reuse them too much, right into your mag. I’m always amazed how few SKS guys know you can reload in a flash with the stripper.

What amazes me is how long it took us to invent the Uplula and baby Up for .22lr. Those 22 rimfire mags caused me to go back to a tube fed.
Many of my .22’s have a button on the side that makes it pretty easy. 10/22 mags aren’t bad to load. In pistols Walther’s are about the easiest and Rugers about the hardest and everybody else in between. The high cap mags and even 1911’s are more than I can easily manage without a loader. Without the double stack/1911 loader I would have about 10 rounds in my 9mm high caps.
I loaded some AK mags yesterday without a loader no problem. AR mags I need the Maglula. Lots of spring tension.
