It’s official, former Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign has committed to three debates with President Trump before the November election, according to the Washington Post.
“Joe Biden looks forward to facing Donald Trump in a multi-debate series that the American people have come to expect from their leaders; we hope that President Trump would not break that tradition or make excuses for a refusal to participate,” said Biden campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon in a letter to the Commission on Presidential Debates.
Last week several top Trump aides, including Rudy Giuliani, began pushing for four presidential debates – and insisted they be held earlier so that early voters can make decisions.
“We want fair debates. We want them sooner, and we want a bigger schedule,” said Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale. “We also don’t want them up against football games competing for viewers. As many Americans as possible need to see the stark differences between the accomplishments and leadership of President Trump and the failed record and sleepiness of Joe Biden.”
The Biden camp pounced at the Trump campaign’s rationale for a fourth debate, pointing to the president’s repeated warnings against mail-in ballots, and calling their insistence on more debates a ‘distraction.’
“The Trump position seems to be saying that he will debate if he can pick the moderators: clearly the President, who largely conducts interviews only with favorable news outlets, is afraid of facing questions from a neutral moderator. The Trump campaign proposal for elaborate negotiations is merely an effort to dodge fair, even-handed debates,” wrote O’Malley Dillon.
If the Trump and Biden camps agree on a fourth debate, the commission would do ‘everything it can’ to make it happen, according to Frank Fahrenkopf, chairman of the debate commission.

Trump only needs one if he calls him out for his hypocrisy, just like he did Bill and Hillary during their second debate. Watching Joe in a dementia-addled defensive meltdown will be priceless. However, I bet “Let me put my finger in you” Biden will pull out (of all of the debates) before they even start.
I agree. Biden is coming to the point where he can’t read off cue cards without screwing it up. And he has a 40 year record to attack. Trump beat Hillary, and she’s a lot smarter then Joe Biden. What his camp will do is demand something that is unacceptable to Trump, and then claim Trump is afraid to debate and cancel.
Biden’s dementia will keep him safe. It’s all about feelings now.
I think Biden has a real shot if he answers every question with tears coming out of his eyes and simply tells all Americans they are terrible people if they don’t wear the mask. Most Americans seem to feel that way already, it seems.
And NO participation from any other political party, even if they are on enough ballots to win the Electoral College, or possibly even more than that. Can’t have issues or positions come up that might endanger the two-party duopoly that has conspired against this nation since 1860.
I have doubts that the Dems are going to run Biden, they still haven’t declared that he’s their candidate.
I also have doubts that the Dems are going to hold their convention in Milwaukee in July as scheduled. After all they cancelled a slew of state primaries declaring Biden the winner and we’ve hardly heard him babble since.

The big question is: will these debates be live and in person, or some sort of virtual masked thing with AI audio-visual substituting for Biden. If i’m Trump, and thank God i am not, it’s either in “The Room Where it Happened”, or it ain’t happening and call BS.
So what happens if something happens to Biden before the elections? Is there a process or procedure in place to handle the incapacitation of a candidate when the clock is ticking and it’s really down to the wire?
Again, as far as I know Biden has not been declared the Democratic party presidential candidate.
And besides, there is no requirement that the Dems or Repubs or any other party can’t run just anybody they feel like. The candidate selection process is not stipulated in federal law (that I am aware of).
Or if something happens to Trump, or both of them?

I anticipate great comedy, if they insist on running Biden. I stiil don’t see how they can.
They run Biden as the front guy for some POS like Stacey Abrams or similar who will then guilt all useless women and blacks into voting for Biden so that she can become president when he is declared incompetent. Not saying it will work, but I’m sure that is the plan.
I would not be all that surprised if this is done, but with Hillary. Of course, that would also mean Joe would not be in the seat long enough to get it warm. Might even have a “wreck” going down Penn Ave. toward the White House.

MrLiberty, I am not at all sure that Ms. Abrams or Sen Harris would be very popular with black voters. Ms. Obama would. Remember that (vote stealing and mail-in ballots aside) a 5% decrease in black turnout for Dems changes the race entirely. I am not sure it matters, but it will be fun to watch.

Has anyone stopped to consider that the “Gray Champion” may be Bernie Sanders? No joke. I’ve not read the Forth Turning book, but from what I’ve picked up here, the cycle-concluder doesn’t necessarily have a good outcome. Could be that these crazies and their collaborators could rally around a Bernie if Biden ends up disqualified and Bernie emerges from the shadows to lead an army of the disaffected lefties and they end up overthrowing the established order and ushering in a totalitarian society that will certainly bring forth a new order and initiate a new cycle that many, many of the young just might embrace.
This notion should be pondered, given that it’s within the realm of the possible but unexpected. We the geezers of the old order have seen how its foundation has eroded and is now seriously vulnerable and not just in the USA. Perhaps the next “Gray Champion”, arsing from wherever, will share with other candidates the thinking of Antonio Gramsci. Try this one on: Francis Bergoglio, currently acting as the head of the Roman Catholic Church, but assuming the role of a “world religion” figurehead to “rescue” the West and teach its inhabitants how to sing in perfect har-mo-ny.
