My daughter was home schooled with “home based education” from 7th grade through 12th grade. She graduated at the age of 16, and scored a 1240 on her ACT.
That would be an SAT score. Max for ACT is 36
On our local neighborhood social media site (Nextdoor.com), I see comments everyday from folks desperately looking for folks to help their kids navigate the fucked up “on-line” government schools, or folks selling their services to do the same. Billions flow into these cesspools of “learning” and still they can’t manage. They had ALL summer to get their act together, not to mention the end of the previous semester. So glad to hear that parents are walking away. If it sticks, it will be hard to sustain a system with 30% or more fewer students, especially with the parents clamoring for their money back. Only a fully competitive marketplace of private, home, co-op, on-line, group, or whatever, education, can ever hope to meet the needs of the diverse student population this country possesses. The on-size-fits all crap from the ‘gubmint has NEVER been about actually educating anyone in anything but subservience and compliance. Of course that asshole is worried about what parents are teaching their kids. They aren’t going to be taught that pretending to a woman or a man when you are not is “ok.” They are not going to be taught that whites are the greatest evil on the planet. They are not going to be taught that the Constitution is a “living” document that really doesn’t apply anymore because we don’t have muskets, etc.
All hail the homeschoolers.
