Fear Itself: Trump and His Critics Hit A Feverish Pitch Over Pandemic After Release From Walter Reed

Guest Post by Jonathan Turley

Many believe that Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s greatest single line came in his 1933 inaugural address when he declared that “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Fear is a precursor to panic and FDR gave the country hope.  President Trump has repeatedly said that he wants to maintain the same positive attitude but it was hardly a FDR moment yesterday when Trump told citizens “Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life.” Many of us have denounced the statement as absolutely reckless for a president to make in the middle of a pandemic.

At the same time, Trump critics have denounced the President while engaging in utter hysteria over the President’s release. Yesterday, for example, Washington Post columnist and MSNBC commentator Jennifer Rubin appeared to become utterly unglued over the release and tweeted that his doctor should be stripped of his license and Walter Reed “defunded.”I cannot imagine a more irresponsible comment than telling people not to fear Covid.

I can understand the push to reopen the economy despite the ongoing pandemic.  I can understand the opposition to inconsistent state rules governing protests or gatherings. I also understand the need to remain optimistic. However, with over 200,000 dead Americans, there is every reason to be afraid of this incredibly contagious virus, as shown by the President’s own contraction of Covid-19.

On the other side, the same unhinged rhetoric was in full display.  Ruben was a case in point. She excoriated the medical team at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and White House physician Dr. Sean Conley for releasing the President. Rubin declared “Any MD who publicly endorses this insanity needs to lose his/her license. Period.”

The “insanity” was a determination that the President could continue to recover at the White House where there is a full medical facility and staff.  Not only did the team confirm that every criteria for release had been satisfied as much as a day earlier, but there are a myriad of reasons why such a release is warranted. First, the hospital staff needs to address acute patients and the huge staff assigned to the President was hardly justified if he was showing no signs of decline after meeting the benchmarks for release.

Second, he is the President of the United States.  If he can recover at the White House, it is important to have him closer to the situation room and other secure areas in case of emergency.  Staff must be able to share classified material and engage the President on matters of state. While the Presidential Suite at Walter Reed is ample, it create logistical and security concerns for staff in interacting with a president.

Rubin however was not finished with her Twitter tirade. She added that “Congress might want to defund Walter Reed. It is a public health hazard.” She added that the President could not be trusted and that the public needed to be protected from him: “A 74 yr old [obese] man with covid – who might have lung damage – and a pattern of disregarding medical advice is returned to an environment in which he may infect others. What planet does Conley inhabit? Where is the rest of Walter Reed? The VP? They are remarkable cowards.”

Before we move from a “defund the police” to a “defund Walter Reed” movement, we may want a reality check. Whether recovering at Walter Reed or the White House, the President will be under close scrutiny and isolation. If he wanted to meet with staff, he could do so just as well at Walter Reed as he could the White House.  He remains the President of the United States.  Moreover, while Rubin has declared these physicians quacks, she may want to address their detailed justification in citing the criteria for release and the President’s meeting that criteria. The President is less than ten minutes away if he has a relapse or sudden decline.

For full disclosure, I have previously criticized Rubin who has shown a remarkable detachment from the underlying facts of stories in lashing out against targets.  I criticized her misrepresentation of a major federal ruling (which the Washington Post has yet to correct) and I also clashed with her over her personally attacking me for a theory that I did not agree with in a column that I did not write. I also challenged her on an equally bizarre column where she completely misrepresented an exchange in the impeachment hearing.

What is most striking with critics like Rubin is how much they engage in the same conduct that they denounce in Trump.  Rubin regularly engages in twitter tirades and has been regularly denounced for false statements and personal attacks. In this latest incident, she is suggesting that a team of distinguished doctors should be stripped of their license and calls them all “cowards.” The message is that either they are quacks or political stooges or both. This is because Rubin believes that they should somehow order the confinement of the President of the United States at a hospital despite meeting criteria for release.

Both Trump and Rubin show the benefits and costs of fear.  Fear has a benefit when it prompts people to be cautious in the face of an imminent threat like Covid-19.  That is why the President was wrong in issuing that statement. Fear also has a cost when it unleashes panic or hysteria.  That is why Rubin and others are wrong to savage the medical staff and hospital. Call me old-fashioned but I like the old FDR fearful moments.

If you want to fear something, fear this – a job advertisement for a Senior “Lethality Engineer”. This is the kind of real world we live in…
https://www.lockheedmartinjobs.com/job/-/-/694/17099949?utm_source=indeed&p_uid=ULu4MA51tQ&p_sid=1KzjT9b&utm_campaign=mfc_diversity&utm_medium=jobad&utm_content=pj_board&ss=paid

This is basically a job advertisement for a position responsible for developing weapons that can kill more people than they already do. BTW jobs for 5G communication system engineers are off the charts.

ANYTHING to cast doubts, to discredit or diminish Trump with the MSM controlled narrative will be unending. Perpetual war profiteering must be continued.

Thanks for mentioning Haspel… all eyes were turned away from the CIA after photos of ‘just another American girl’ were circulated for her appointment. Torture queen Haspel.. What exactly has she been up to while eyes were elsewhere?

Agreed…and the 200,000 number is complete BS. WITH Covid and FROM Covid is the most important distinction– and so few people get this, which is no surprise as the media keeps the lazy people like this author ignorant.

Ah, thank you for bringing up that point. The numbers of true Covid deaths is not know. If a person with terminal cancer caught the virus then cause of death was Covid, not cancer. They could have caught the flu and gone into decline and the cause of death would be cancer. Odd how that works, no?

What you both say is true, but there is the illusion of pandemic like it or not. One has to do what is necessary, just go to the emergency room or doctor’s office for an appointment and refuse to wear a mask.
The President did say not to “be dominated”.

“However, with over 200,000 dead Americans, there is every reason to be afraid of this incredibly contagious virus, as shown by the President’s own contraction of Covid-19.”
John, that line alone is justification to open up, and open up completely.
I have posted, many many times, the actual statistics (math is hard) showing how stupid this whole thing is.
But, once more for the cheap seats:
A person dies about every 12 seconds
7452 die every day, nationwide, or about 2.8 Million Americans, give or take
Todays Covid-1984 death counter: 209794
First covid-1984 death in the US: February 6 2019, 8 months ago, or 240 days
874 people, per day, in the US, supposedly from Covid-1984.
8 of these people were under 1 year of age. (Please keep in mind, 11,300 newborn babies die every single year in the US. EVERY SINGLE YEAR. The US continues to have a pretty bad infant mortality rate among developed nations)
5 were between the ages of 1-4
13 were between 5-14 years of age
So stop with “it’s for the children”. As long as abortion is legal, for anyone, anytime, anywhere, for any damn reason, and now in some states, pretty much right up until birth, using “the children” argument is just not believable.
But we all know if you are over 70 then you risk factor jumps significantly, and if you tack on obesity, smoking, COPD, cancer, PAD, etc etc then it’s going to almost certainly be fatal.
So here we have a President, who is 74 and not physically in great shape, i.e. he is overweight and doesn’t eat the healthiest of diets. But he doesn’t smoke and never ever drinks. He seems to be the type that thrives under pressure, enjoys sparring and confrontation, and has spent the majority of his adult life in the public eye.
The link between mental health and longevity has been studied:
“One of the clearest places that the link between mental and physical health is illustrated is in longevity. Many studies have found that those with mental health challenges, such as schizophrenia or even depression, tend to live shorter lives when compared to those who do not have these conditions. In fact, the Mental Health Foundation reported that schizophrenia is associated with a tripled risk of dying from a respiratory disease and a doubled risk of dying from a form of heart disease. Depression has been linked to a 50 percent increase in a person’s risk of dying from cancer and a 67 percent increase from heart disease. These conditions have a significant impact on life expectancies.” (https://onlinedegrees.bradley.edu/blog/how-mental-health-affects-physical-health/)
Despite what the MSM wants us all to believe, Trump seems to be completely fine in the mental health area. Yes, he’s abrasive and confrontational. But guess what? So is ANYONE who is in a position of power, because they didn’t get there by being Mr. Rogers. So grow up.
The President is a living, breathing example of a 74 year old man who is on the path to recovery from Covid-1984. Which shows us that if you are not as frail as a balsa wood plane in high winds and very old, you will most likely recover.
Now, the whole other side show of “lasting effects” of Covid-1984 which is presented as something extraordinary. It’s not:
https://healthfully.com/the-after-effects-of-the-flu-3910062.html
Regular old flu could possibly also give you lasting neurological effects. Lung damage. Kidney damage. Heart damage.
Anyone who can read and not get their news from the hysterical group of teenage girls we all know as the MSM has probably figured out a few things:
The PCR tests are junk
The “death count” is overstated
The “death count” continues to fall even as supposed “cases” are on the rise
Masks obviously don’t do jack shit as is stated quite clearly ON THE FUCKING BOX, and that several people in the audience, at the recent “super spreader” event had on masks and got it anyway.
There has been a monetary incentive for hospitals to count any death as a Covid death (stop saying it could never happen, every damn year a bunch of people are arrested for health insurance fraud, particularly Medicare and Medicaid, and this is the most recent one: https://www.justice.gov/usao-ma/pr/three-defendants-charged-multi-million-dollar-medicare-fraud-scheme).
And lastly, every single fucking model our wonderful overlords used to justify what they have done to us, is completely WRONG.
So why is anyone, anywhere, listening to these hacks? Because they are peddling fear not reality. And now we are all mad at someone who was in a high risk group who is recovering, who said don’t be afraid?
The stupid, it burns.

How long will they continue to tout their 200,000 number? A couple of weeks ago, I read about Four Seasons founding member Tommy DiVito dying of WuFlu. The man was 92 years old and certainly near the end of his life, so what really was the cause of death – Old age or the flu?

If you get this flu, you have better than a 95% chance of beating it, unless you are already sick or have an immunity problem.

As I told you all back in August, when my 87-year-old father died, once the medical sharks found out he had COVID, they abandoned any other treatment for underlying issues. He was diagnosed with a mild leukemia about 2 years ago (and was seeing an oncologist for it); when he was admitted, the ER nurse said his T-cell count was over 100, which is well above normal for anyone. And she asked about his leukemia then.

Once Dad was quarantined like a plague victim, there was no more talk about cancer, it was strictly following the COVID checklist from then on: they had to get his oxygen levels up, then they were going to use Remdesivir once he stabilized, all the while keeping Dad whacked out on morphine. They wanted to put him on a ventilator, of course, which is the next big moneymaker for hospitals, but Dad had let us know previously he didn’t want that. While this is going on, Dad just kept getting weaker and weaker (so we were told — we couldn’t go visit him, only FaceTime), and the nurses seemed baffled. How many times did I want to scream at these people, “YOU’RE TREATING HIM FOR THE WRONG SHIT!”

So the ‘medical professionals’ who let my Dad die are doing this wholesale nationwide, probably worldwide. They could have saved him, and any other year I believe would have. I have absolute contempt for any psychopathic MD’s who blindly practice politics instead of medicine at the cost of human lives. I just want to burn down every medical school right now. I’m not playing.

The capper on this whole deal? On Dad’s death certificate, cause #1 is: COVID pneumonia, and #2 is leukemia.

This diagnosis came from an MD, of course.

All factual evidence suggests this virus is no worse than a bad Flu season.. I am cautious but not afraid even though I am in a higher risk group. My spouse on the other hand is in public employment and is scared silly of C-19 and angry at any suggestion there is any overstatement or overreach regarding the crisis. Never before have healthy low-risk populations been forced to quarantine instead of just the most at risk.

FDR knew the location of the Japanese fleet. NSA documents prove this.

“In 1979 the NSA released 2,413 JN-25 orders of the 26,581 intercepted by US between Sept 1 and Dec 4, 1941. The NSA says “We know now that they contained important details concerning the existence, organization, objective, and even the whereabouts of the Pearl Harbor Strike Force.” (Parker p 21) Of the over thousand radio messages sent by Tokyo to the attack fleet, only 20 are in the National Archives. All messages to the attack fleet were sent several times, at least one message was sent every odd hour of the day and each had a special serial number. Starting in early November 1941 when the attack fleet assembled and started receiving radio messages, OP-20-G stayed open 24 hours a day and the “First Team” of codebreakers worked on JN-25. In November and early December 1941, OP-20-G spent 85 percent of its effort reading Japanese Navy traffic, 12 percent on Japanese diplomatic traffic and 3 percent on German naval codes. FDR was personally briefed twice a day on JN-25 traffic by his aide, Captain John Beardell, and demanded to see the original raw messages in English. The US Government refuses to identify or declassify any pre-Dec 7, 1941 decrypts of JN-25 on the basis of national security, a half-century after the war.”

Leaving out “what if the patient wanted to be released” can they force someone to stay ? That is a pretty sketchy line right there, seems like you would need at least a court order.

Know one knows how many people died from the covid-19 being the cause. An autopsy would have to be done on every body. Who is going to pay for that?
