You cannot get educated by this self-propagating system in which people study to pass exams, and teach others to pass exams, but nobody knows anything.
You learn something by doing it yourself, by asking questions, by thinking, and by experimenting. ? pic.twitter.com/8DWLW114dX

It is my sincere desire to provide readers of this site with the best unbiased information available, and a forum where it can be discussed openly, as our Founders intended. But it is not easy nor inexpensive to do so, especially when those who wish to prevent us from making the truth known, attack us without mercy on all fronts on a daily basis. So each time you visit the site, I would ask that you consider the value that you receive and have received from The Burning Platform and the community of which you are a vital part. I can't do it all alone, and I need your help and support to keep it alive. Please consider contributing an amount commensurate to the value that you receive from this site and community, or even by becoming a sustaining supporter through periodic contributions. Absolutely. But he missed a crucial point: You MUST use critical thinking on all thoughts introduced to you-especially from sources you know to be devious like Fox News or CBS. Personally whenever I hear from Chris Wallace or Jake (the Snake) Tapper my brain goes into bullshit mode. It’s a great filter.
As much as I hate Google, Youtube is the best teacher I’ve ever had. I’ve learned skills like welding, automotive painting, appliance repair, and many other things at no cost from the comfort of my home. The library of the world is available to those willing to turn off Ow, My Balls! and educate themselves.
Very true, Steve. Before starting a repair of something I have never done, I go to Utube and grab a video from someone who has done it and knows the shortcuts and the pitfalls.
But it would be great if the hucksterism and outright incorrect information on the how-to videos was minimized. Yeah, it’s all about the clicks, isn’t it?
Critical thinking has no place in today’s government run indoctrination centers.
Can you imagine how much trouble the DNC would be in today if most Americans could think critically? Or apply the principles of logic?
The problem with most private schools too. Frankly, even homeschoolers can easily get caught up in the trap unless they treat every moment as an educational opportunity. The “unschooling” movement holds the most promise from what I have seen, but definitely not for the lazy parent or the lazy student. The Montessori I attended never put limits on learning, but had enough structure that progress was made by all. As a result, someone like me moved ahead a couple of years, but there was still enough flexibility that anyone could advance in one subject while still figuring out others, and not end up either lost but ahead, or held back. Ultimately life is the greatest teacher, but that doesn’t put enough money in the pockets of the union membership.
Critical thinking is not tolerated.
As you move up the education ladder you learn more and more about less and less until you know everything about nothing.
At which point one then runs for public office.
Or gets a ‘gubmint job.
The most successful people I know are mostly curious, self taught types. One of my best friends (and a customer) is worth more money than he’ll ever handle or spend in 5 lifetimes. He “wastes” a lot of his days in his shop on his acreage experimenting with machinery, designing and inventing stuff. He’s past the point of even caring wether or not it makes or loses money. He’s in it for the the process as much as the result. He understands engineering, physics, math and markets and he’s never set foot in a college or university class. He tells me they’re overrated. And he’s right.
