SUNDAY MORNING CLASSICS ON TBP

A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
nkit, Austrian Peter, and Steve C.

Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.

We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.

Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.

We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.

A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.

We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

Saint-Saëns – Symphony No 3 in C minor, Op 78

1 Adagio – Allegro moderato – Poco adagio
2 Allegro moderato – Presto – Maestoso – Allegro

Orchestre de Paris

Paavo Järvi, conductor

The Green Green Grass of Home

This week I’d like to introduce you to a fantastic young artist by the name of Jo A Ram.

She is a product of South Korea who plays the electronic violin. She is incredibly soulful, and plays with more emotion than many other musicians I have come across. Her soul oozes through the strings of her violin. She is extremely well versed in American music, especially country, western, pop and even rock.

The first piece is titled “The Green Green Grass of Home.” It was written by Claude “Curly” Putnam Jr. and first recorder by Johnny Darrell in 1965.

Please enjoy.

Anything That’s Part of You

Her next piece is titled “Anything That’s Part of You.” It was written by Don Robertson and first recorded by Elvis Presley in 1962.

It also, like the Green Green Grass of Home, has a nice sax solo.

She’s Gone

Finally, she’s going to rock out a bit with a piece titled “She’s Gone”.

It was written and first recorded by the American rock group, Steelheart. It debuted on their first album in 1990. It reached no.59 on the “Billboard Hot 100” in October of 1991. It was exceedingly popular in Indonesia.

It is absolutely beautiful under the fingers and bow of Jo A Ram.

Fugue in G minor

And here is some fun with a few sax guys:
