Until the border was closed, Buffalo was a city I visited several times a year, spent some money, usually had a good meal and then came back across the border home to Canada. 650 is longer than 308?

The ballistic coefficients of the Six-Fives are better.
Creedmoor Six-Five is a lighter round in a 7.62x51mm case – the same brass as the 308, just resized a bit. This allows the Creedmoor a better max effective range.
The Grendel Six Five was purposely built as an intermediate cartridge for semi AR rifles between 5.56×45 and 7.62×51. It’s more accurate in a lighter, small action bolt gun and outranges the 5.56. The real bonus of the Grendel is being tailor-made for an AR.
This is one big reason the Army is going to a new weapon system. The Taliban with PK MG’s were causing problems and they needed a fix … so they plan to buy all new weapons and ammo to get an expensive new solution that’s been obvious to shooters for years.
I used to reload spent brass back in the day for my Remington 700 and would buy a Grendel or Creedmoor in a hot minute. Both are great hunting/tactical cartridges in the right rifle.
There is a new whiz bang coming out every couple of months now. The Creedmoors are good and the 6.5 has exceptional long range accuracy.
Before running out to get one in order to “keep up” here are a couple of facts. The .243 Winchester is also 6mm and if you already have one you won’t gain much if anything switching to the new Creedmoor 6mm.
The 6.5 has tremendous long range BUT if you can stand a little more recoil, your old .30-’06 matches it yard for yard all the way out using one of the many so-called “heavy for caliber bullets.” When a 225 grain .30 gets there it has a lot more whoopass than a 143 grain 6.5 round. Even more so by orders of magnitude at more usual ranges.
Technology like FLIR and ultra high speed cameras have revealed never before verified secrets and solutions in ballistics.
To gain full advantage of the new bullets one may need to rebarrel a rifle to change the twist rate, but if like many you have a number of rifles in a particular caliber there is no reason to change your whole weapons ecosystem to gain all the advantages of the new ballistic tech breakthroughs.
I’d be thoroughly pleased with something sub-MOA inside of 800m and weighing 10lb or less with reduced recoil. One of my big learning moments came after purchasing a ’90’s-era .308 Win Model 70 with a cheap-ass polymer stock that didn’t lend itself well to a proper bedding. It would beat the hell out of my shoulder after 10 rounds and ended up in recycle.
Well,try a 6.5 with a AR-10 and recoil stock,play with the buffer weights to ease the hit/the AR-15 Gren though have never shot personally might also fit the build.
At moment tis the ammo,very pricey.
Have access to a Weatherby 300,a great round but one heck of a hit to the shoulder,can still handle but am aging fast!A pussy pad only helps so far!

After that the occasional open carry free American was ignored.

Thursday was my sisters 75th birthday. Thursday night eight of us went to dinner at a restaurant in town. When we got to the restaurant there was a sign next to the door with a picture of a face with a mask and over the face was a red circle and diagonal slash indicating that masks were not required. There was a statement something to the affect – “We Respect The Right Of Our Customers To Choose to Wear A Mask Or Not. We Will Not Insult Our Customers By Asking Them To Wear A Mask”.
Inside the restaurant not a single customer was wearing a mask. I would guess there were somewhere around 50 to 60 people there; the restaurant was not at full capacity. Everyone was sitting shoulder to shoulder; there was none of this 6ft distancing nonsense. All the restaurant workers wore masks.
I was told the sheriff in out county has no intention of enforcing any of the California Covid rules.
Also I should mention our sheriff is 2A friendly and three of us at that table have CCW permits and I don’t know if the other two were carrying at the time but I always do. Not all of California is crazy.
